The people are very friendly. It's expensive, and is less value than what they charge. We picked this community, because of the close location and it was a newer faciltiy.

Overall it has been a peaceful place. Just like with any memory care unit or facility for your elderly, you have to be there to advocate for them. Some of the same things that occur at most memory care facilities - missing clothes, having to remind them to do certain things - also occur at colonial Gardens. But overall it has been a peaceful place for my dad, and he likes it there.

This facility is nice. Mom is happy here. The communication with the family is good. They keep me aware of anything that is going. They do housekeeping weekly and do a great job. Mom has no complaints about the food. They seem to be professional and know what they're doing. I appreciate everyone's concern for her here. They like mom and they look out for her. I would recommend them to family and friends.

I was very impressed with our tour at Brookdale Berkley Boulevard. [name removed] was great throughout the whole tour. The staff seemed more in-tune with the residents and what was going on. It is smaller and not as updated as a few others we saw, but I think we were looking at the wrong things. I almost wish now that we would have chosen this facility for my mom over the one she is at now.

We had a very good tour at Carolina Reserve of Durham. They were very kind and very receptive. They answered all of our questions. I thought it would be a good fit for my loved one. But after their nurse evaluated her, they felt she required too much care. Which came as a surprise. I don't think she seemed to require more assistance than the other residents I saw on the tour.

The staff at Brookdale Berkeley Boulevard were friendly. The facility was smaller though and seemed like it had fewer amenities.

Overall it has been a very good experience for us. The staff are receptive to hearing from the family about our feedback and are willing to work with the family to improve things for our loved one. The community is supposed to be able to accommodate dietary restrictions such as low salt, and chopped food. There are times that these accommodations aren't met, and there times the meals are received very late after requesting the items to eat. The meals could be more appetizing for the residents tastes.

The communication needs improvement.

The staff is super friendly. They take care of the residents.They try to make sure that, the residents are happy. It's a loving community. The residents seem to be happy, and my oved one loves it there.

My family I feel does not get enough of the food that is needed. It needs to be monitored a bit better. One particular meal am thinking about they gave her a small chicken leg, a small scoop of veg-all. Small bun, they asked for another piece of chicken which was provided. But they must ask for seconds which many of the residents will not ask so they are not getting enough at all times. They do not have options nor ask the residents what they do like or would not eat. Need to have more individualize the meals better.

Keowee is a wonderful facility but my loved one needed more skilled nursing care which is why we had to move out. They were short staffed but that is not their fault, I know that is an ongoing problem everywhere you go. If they had been fully staffed I think it would have been an even better experience!

Overall we are happy with our experience with Carolina Reserve. I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones.

Gives me peace of mind that my sister is in a place where if she needs help there are people who can get her that help.

They have new staff. I had more experience, with the previous staff , who were very nice. In the begginiing, the food was good, and my loved one was happy but now the food is sometimes warm. My loved one does not participate in activities but they do have a lot of activities/trips. I am not too happy with the rent increase, after being there for after five months.

We toured with Richland Place and really liked the facility and the staff. It is a place that fully focuses on memory care and we did not think our loved one was ready for that. It turns out that she was and this seemed like it would be a great place.

I would recommend you check the community out to see if it would be a good fit for your loved one. This is a new community and it is clean. The staff are very friendly and nice. The independent living side has several activities available for the residents to participate in, if they want to. The staff communication with the family is pretty good, and they are responsive to our questions and concerns.

The communication with the staff is pretty good. I will sometimes have to send a couple emails before I hear back from the staff about a concern I have.

They seem to be doing a pretty good job of keeping an eye on him. They're very communicative and anytime I call they're on top of things, so I'm very pleased with how things are going. They provide him with all of his needs, they do their best to appease him. Of course with the memory loss, he can be hard to appease at times - but they are so patient.
