MorningStar Senior Living

No facility is perfect -- especially in these trying times -- but Morningstar's executive director, [name removed], is a truly kind and caring man. When my father developed COVID, [name removed] immediately implemented a compassionate care exception to the standard isolation protocol so my mother and I were able to visit him regularly before he passed. He showed genuine personal concern for us throughout this difficult experience and in the immediate aftermath. The institution works generally well with Bristol Hospice and Brookdale Home Health Care, which attended my father. They also made a fuss over what turned out to be his last birthday, with his favorite German chocolate cake and a movie. "Happy" is a relative concept for people who wind up in these residences, but my father was certainly happier here, and more engaged, than at a previous, larger facility, and Morningstar was a much more aesthetically pleasing place to visit.

I had a virtual tour at MorningStar, but the virtual tours really don't tell you a whole lot. They all look good just walking through with a camera. The people who led the tour were good, and the facility was brand new. I ended up choosing a place where many of the employees had long 10+ year tenures.

MorningStar at Silver Lake is a very nice place to live if you are not able to be at home. The apartments here are very spacious and very nice.

The staff is very good. We've been having some problems in the dining room, and the staff has chipped in to help. People are friendly and cooperative. My apartment is just what I wanted and was expecting. I like the exercise class, which they have 5 times a week. They started showing movies, and I like most of what they show but not all. I don't care for bingo though. They bring in outside entertainment twice a week, and they let me play the piano, which is wonderful.

We chose MorninngStar because of the value for the money, it is a newer modern facility, and the food menu was great. The meals are chef prepared and they get a menu with options to choose from. I gave the administration 3 because the staff is transitioning, they are in the on-borading process so there are some blips going on at the moment due to that turnover. Overall I would recommend them to others who are looking.

Our family had an in person tour and the experience was great, it had a very homey feeling to it. However, at the time we were looking the community did not have independent living and we wanted our loved one to move out of assisted living to independent living.

The staff is very nice and very friendly. Communication is good and they let me know if there are any issues. The community is very neat and clean and I would recommend this community if you have the money,

I absolutely love the staff. They are all very kind, and they all come up and tell me how much they love my family member, even though she can be kind of difficult at her age with dementia. When I get to go visit her now that Covid restrictions have eased, I go into her room and she doesn't like to just sit. So we walk around the halls and say hi to lots of people. The staff just let me do that, and they talk to me. It's been a good experience, and I actually really love going to visit her there. They communicate very well. I feel like it's a really good value. I see the staff working so hard. They have a lot to do and their hands full. I just wish there was more one-on-one care and more staff to help out. I think that's just the case for memory care units in general. But MorningStar does such a great job.

We toured the community and the facility was very nice. The tour was good and the staff was very friendly. The only issue we had was the pricing was out of our range and the community was not pet friendly.

The most beautiful community by far. Cabinet trims, countertops, lighting, closets, etc. For Independent living they offer one and two bedrooms, full kitchens, laundry hookups. Way more than my father needs or wanted. No option for a studio. Lots of happy seniors !

I think that the room size for the money from what I've heard about other estates is good. Merrill Gardens is in many high expectation cities, so I assume they're meeting client demand. The staff have been very responsive, both to our loved one and our family. They know what's goin on. The move-in was impeccable. Communications about Covid have been very transparent and regular. I'm grateful my loved one is safe and well, and well cared for. We've experience more dementia-related care than physical, but they've been supportive and kind. They've handled her medications well, as well as transportation to medical appointments. With activities, they've resumed what they can when they can.

From our understanding the food is not the best, however they have made huge improvements on their activities. They is always something going on every single day. They could use improvements on the billing side of communication regarding insurance and medicaid and what happens when your loved one will run out of money.

Morningstar Assisted Living is a nice community. The management team was very nice to deal with. The communication was great between the care staff and myself. The grounds are well kept and good.

The staff seems cordial and happy to help. The community is recently new with. The communication with the staff is good for the most part. The staff seems understaffed at time. I wish there was a transition from assisted living to memory care.

The food is not very good and they don't really focus on our dietary needs. The menu is very predictable and there is not much variety. Communication could be better here also. The value of the community is good and better than other facilities. House cleaning does a good job also.

My mom is so happy there, she has lots of friends and she has a dog. The only thing that needs improvement is the food right now. The living space is great with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, and an attached garage. I would recommend this facility.

My mom is happy there, it's a convenient location there are a lot of businesses around the community, The community is smaller and I think that's a good thing. I would definitely recommend this community to others.

Nice Facility and friendly person to talk with. Studio - $ 5876 Companion $ 7020 1 Bedroom - $ 7176 Price includes all but needed supplies, i.e. depends, etc. $2500 off of first and second month. Furniture not included. Does include Refrigerator.

So helpful beginning with the initial call to the facility was not evasive when making decisions. Empathetic, passionate, patient staff. Rapid response to phone calls, emails, etc. I would highly recommend MorningStar Sr. Living.

My mom lived @ Morningstar for 9 months. It was a great place in most respects. [Name removed], the manager of Reflections was excellent in communication and caring for my mom’s needs. [Name removed], the main nurse, was so attentive and caring— loved her! Most caregivers were great- especially [names removed]. Some just looked at it as just a job and didn’t fulfill the mission statement of honoring God. As a CNA, I admire caregivers who go above and beyond and truly care for each resident as very valuable. Thank you to ALL who did that (I may not have remembered your names, as I’m bad at names :D).
