We visited about four communities in the Henderson NV area before we decided on this location. It was a hard decision, which became easier and easier with our experiences over time. The staff is wonderful. Their caring and friendliness is genuine. The staff presence is noticeable, which I really appreciate. The residents are independent but guidance and encouragement is available. My Mother was very decisive in what she wanted in her new home and April Fillingim was right there to make sure it happened. I also appreciate Rosa Jenkins and her medical supervision. I have trusted this community to care for my Mother and that is a very important task. I am thankful that I found this location and the people who work there.

I liked them but I did not take my dad to see them because I was afraid he would get lost there. It was a really big place. It's a very active community and the had really good arts and crafts programs there but I didn't think my dad would be able to negotiate the building. That was the only reason I didn't take him there. The place was clean and everyone seemed happy. I couldn't see any reason not to recommend this place.

This was our second choice. It was quite nice. The issue is that is was quite a ways a way from where my mother had been living before. Of the five places we visited we narrowed it down to this and one other. It was newer and had a very open, inviting dining room with lots of windows. It had lots of activities. If the Bonaventure Place had been closer we probably would have opted for this one. Location was the main factor in choosing another place. By far, Bonaventure had the best floor plans of any place we visited. They were very open and spacious.

Overall they are pretty excellent, not in every regard but they are getting there. Overall what they offer and provide like the food, the cleanliness of the community, the staff is friendly, respectful, attentive and courteous to residents and guest. They could improve in activities by offering a wider variety. These communities can always improve in the care giver to resident ratio. From what I have observed they currently have about 2 care givers to about 12-15 residents. This can always improve because then the care givers can understand each of the residents and visitor so they are clearer on each individual needs. My opinion towards Parker Assisted Living memory unit is very favorable and we would recommend it to anyone.

Everyone was wonderful and facility is beautiful with many amenities that make it a wonderful place. But my father and I did not care for the single room layout where his bedroom had no door and was the first entryway room that gave him no privacy. We understand that this makes it easier for staff coming into his room to check on him but also is awkward when he has visitors to his room. The price was also high considering his limited ability to take advantage of the amenities offered by Morningstar.

Daily staff are very helpful and encouraging. Food is currently awful and they are not providing the nutritional options they supposedly offer and we are paying for.

The staff at front desk are nice; food is ok but could be better; the 2 bedroom is a nice size, kitchen and bathroom are dated though; they are updating the hallways and dining room which is nice. They don't seem to have a lot of activities outside of the place. Wish there was more for everyone.

Staff seemed really friendly. Rooms and overall facility was very clean. A lot of activities are made available. My friend enjoyed the food. The only complaint that kept them from a 5 star was they let his fingernails get long and break without trimming them. He said he had asked them about doing it and they said when they get time. But never came around to do it.

There is always room for improvement. Just returned from visiting 101 year old mom which my husband and I have been doing twice a week for a year. Wednesdays which is fully staffed and Sundays, not so much. Since Morningstar took over, there has been a lot of turnover with staff. Dining is still a issue. Server takes order, NEVER returns with order. Have to ask another server after 15 minutes of waiting , where is order. Some one else runs food. Doesn't refill drinks. NEVER wipes tables after bussing and I know this because I sit every time with her for lunch, Wednesdays and Sundays. Tables are sticky, seats have crumbs, so I wipe the table and the seat for mom before she sits. Dining staff is under staffed. Housekeeping, once a week is minimal. Includes changing bed sheets and laundering towels. Also sweeping. I bring home mom's laundry because Morningstar charges $[removed] per month. Mom's rent was increased by $[removed] per month starting in September. This is what I see when I am there, which I understand is not really a fair perception of what goes on beyond my visitation which is 3 hours per visit.

The food could be improved. Some things were very good others not . When you can't identify what it is that's a problem for me.

Staff was friendly, helpful, and supportive. The size of the apartment was quite nice, big windows for light, good amount of storage in the several closets and kitchen area. Walk-in large shower, and bathroom area. Menu was very good, with a variety of selections, with great attendants in the dining rooms. The whole facility was clean, open and bright, with several activity areas and comfortable lounges. It's quite a nice place! -Review from an Adult daughter of residents.

It is a good place with good staff. Mom has had a hard time adjusting though. It is a bit pricey, but they have a great community and lots of activities. Residents are for the most part very friendly. Still no word on how to get veterans benefits for my mom- my father was a veteran.

What we like the most about the community is the welcoming environment, their friendly staff and their attentiveness. Yes, we would recommend MorningStar at Laurelhurst to other families based on the experience we have had.

There were some mixups on paperwork that were a little frustrating but overall it was fairly good. I would give the Staff as a whole probably a 4 1/2 to 5. They were very attentive. They knew the names of people very quickly, learned the routines fairly quickly and were familiar with visitors. Everything is kept pretty clean and I like that. I can’t say enough good things about the staff. They’ve been very responsive and helpful, including the couple times I’ve called to ask if someone could help my aunt and uncle with something. And my aunt, who was not happy about being there initially, now keeps saying how nice everyone is and how it’s “not a bad place to live.” That’s high praise from her, considering how resistant she was at first.

The very best part of Morningstar is the friendliness of staff and residents.

It is a beautiful place with a caring staff. We have had difficulty getting my parents' medicines and med schedule in place and accurate.

[Name Removed] in the marketing department is a gem. She really connected with my dad. All of the employees learned his name in just a few days, and say hi and smile every time they see him. I'm sure they are fine for most people. He just has an interest in a few of the activities, but doesn't make an effort to take part in many of them, hopefully that will change over time. He did go to the ice cream social and said the room was too small for the number of people who showed up.

Most of the staff are patient, caring and genuinely care for the residents. A few of the caregivers even go beyond their job description. Memory Care is even more difficult for the staff but most of them handle the situations with dignity to the resident, activities are provided for residents that will participate. The outdoor garden space is being used by more and more of the residents as the weather warms.

I really enjoy the people here especially Happy Hour on Fridays. I really like events like the Tea Party we had a few months ago. I appreciate the physical therapy they have here and the convenience. And thanks to all their good cooking I’ve outgrown some of my clothes!

I moved here to MorningStar because of the location. I have a 1 bedroom plus den and I love the lighting and layout. I have made some wonderful friends here as I have been here for 6 years. I enjoy playing the accordion for the Sunday church services each week. I also help with the library with a few friends here.
