MorningStar Senior Living

This place has been under renovation. They are still working on the kitchen but all new furniture. My first two weeks were not great. Non existent orientation. Things have improved. I take Gene on Fridays to the main building for music. He seems mostly content. Very few residents can communicate in the lock down area which is sad. In my mind the small house was very mediocre. I would not be happy going there to visit him. The room they showed me had no private bath and it was the same price. Probably they focus on Medicaid. Did not look at other places. It is a quick trip for me to Morningstar. His room is very nice.

They just increased monthly 10k a month for memory care. They do have church and communion. They sit and watch TV in the main room most of the time. Have difficulty getting her compression socks. Employee turnover seems high. But the people I regularly see are kind.

MorningStar is a beautiful facility with a capable and responsive staff. The memory care (called the "Reflections Community") rooms are extremely nice compared to those I saw in other facilities. Everything is modern and there is a lot of natural light because of the large windows. Each room has its own full-size refrigerator with a freezer, which is very convenient and helpful. The food is very good with a nice variety, and residents can choose from the menu ahead of time if they don't like the regularly offered meals for the day. Memory care residents would benefit with more help in selecting a menu for the day, and from a slightly revised process for "opting out" of the regular meals and choosing their food for the day. The move in process was good, but it could have been improved with a more robust orientation process and a dedicated staff person that would touch base regularly with the resident and family throughout the first two weeks. Resident care has been very good, but some things (i.e., showers) haven't always taken place on the assigned days because of staffing or other issues. That being said, memory care residents are a particularly challenging population, and I have been impressed with the caring staff and the overall environment of the "Reflections Community" at MorningStar, which after two months still feels very welcoming and friendly. I am grateful that my dad has such a safe and comfortable place to live at MorningStar. I would definitely recommend MorningStar at Laurelhurst.

My dad entered memory care at Morning Star in 2023. Either my mom or I was with him daily. So we spent many hours there. Morning Star is a beautiful facility. It looks clean and smells clean. However, it doesn't appear they have enough staff for all of the people in memory care. Because we were always there, we made sure my dad had what he needed. Many people don't have visitors and it seems they can be put in front of the tv very easily. The regular staff is amazing. [names removed] are angels. But weekends are short handed and nurses were often on staff that we didn't know. Generally they do a wonderful job, but there are certainly stand out people working there. Like any senior center, I'd recommend that you show up for your loved one because things can be overlooked. My dad passed away in November of 2023, and I believe he was happy there.

The staff were wonderful towards the end of my mom's life. They gave us lots of hugs & seemed to truly care about my mom & us. There just weren't enough of them (under-staffed in general). And the hospice that we went with was fantastic & worked well with the staff.

I would certainly recommend the facility to others, as well as your service.

All is well. Even though they changed ownership just a few weeks after the move, all is well and going smoothly. I would recommend this facility to others.

It was an amazing facility. I don't think I can really say anything bad about it, except for they need to have better communication with the aides. I don't feel like some of them were properly trained on basic CNA skills. We had to put a camera in my loved one's room to keep an eye on her and to make sure that the aides did their job. The nurses and the rest of the staff were all friendly and helpful.

Overall I'm very happy that my parents live there! Not only is it convenient for my house but I feel like they're in a safe happy environment. The people are what really make it special and although the food can improve a little bit overall it's decent and sometimes great! The food is ok. Some days better than others. Gone thru 2 chefs since last April. Now dishwasher is broken earring in paper plates last 2 weeks. Some good items great others not. prices went up 10% this year which is a lot for ppl on fixed income. They have great entertainment! I love how caring and friendly the staff and residents are. Really liked the open feeling and choice of small or large dining room. Super friendly caring staff. The location is great.

Everyone is welcoming and kind. We did experience a few speed bumps when my mom first moved in, but those seem to have been resolved. Typically, when I bring an issue to someone's attention, they will address it quickly.

My parents haven't been involved in community activities and have rarely dined in the dining room due to my dad's failing health. Other than staff, my parents haven't interacted with other residents. I think their experience would be better if they would have moved in prior to my dad's illness. The staff works really hard to meet my dad's challenging healthcare needs. We chose morning star because they allowed my parents to live together even though my dad is assigned to assisted living and is on hospice. Morning Star also allows residents to stay through end of life. We also chose Morning star because of all they offered, though my parents haven't been able to take advantage. Lastly we chose Morning Star because of its close proximity to my dad's medical providers.

The meals are very good quality and I like that the café is open all day rather than specific hours. They also get to know the residents very well. Like a lot of places, I think they are sometimes understaffed, but overall they are fairly responsive. However, I would encourage all family members to stay very aware of the promised services and make sure they are being delivered. Sometimes they do not get to my mom's needs on a scheduled day.

Nice place. My mom liked it when we were shopping around. Makes them feel like they are at a resort rather than a care facility. I would recommend to others.

Our mom has been at the MorningStar on Kipling Pkwy in Littleton since 2019. The facility is kept up well and staff does a nice job of decorating for holidays with a variety of activities for the residents. Medical care has been pretty good overall. The biggest issue in the past year or so has been the food -while some meals are fine, many others are skimpy, overcooked, tough and not as balanced nutritionally as they should be. Meal service is also quite slow at times. Good quality meals supervised by a knowledgeable chef and assistants needs to be a top priority as meals are often the highlight of residents’ day. It hurts the quality of an otherwise nice assisted living facility.

Excellent physical qualities - large apartments, beautiful surroundings, staff friendly and excellent. But too new to have interesting activities

My loved one is currently a resident at MorningStar Senior Living of Sparks and overall things have been very good for her at this facility. As with most of the caregiver facilities, there is a need for more employees. The employees that they do have are good. The cleanliness is great. The friendliness, staff, care services and food are good. The activities are okay. Overall, I would recommend MorningStar Senior Living of Sparks to others.

It is a nice community and Morningstar has been completely renovated. The food could use improvement along with the service staff in dining room.
