Manager was very helpful. This might be a good fit for my parents. Small and full of nice people and staff.

Too far away, didn't feel real homey to me! Owner was nice, but herd herlife story and then felt insecure about what would happen to the place if she left again.

Place is perfect in location. Smaller facility which means more on hands care. Patients do seem elderly and facility is a little older than the others. Run by excellent owner, who is very knowledgeable in what Mom would need and how to care for her. I would not have to be concerned about her care. If Homstead can take Mom, it would be a permn home, she would not need to be taken to a nursing facility due to her health. They would also accept her once the monies are gone and medicaid would step in. Dining area is really only for the patients. Hair salon on site which is good and nice outdoor places for use. Not a whole lot in regards to activity rooms but the one bedroom has more room than the others seen except for the suite one bedroom at sunrise. This facility is lower in cost and more in line to what mother could afford and not be worried to about being turned out.

They need to collaborate with hospice and the doctors better and not leave it up to the families to figure the medical side of things out. They could improve on actually following through with the promises made and meet the expectations - that improvement would go a long way.

We toured this community and the staff was nice. We think that the community should be updated. The menu looks like it needed improvement. They offer activities. We did not feel that this community could give up what we needed. We do recommend that other families tour this community for the care of a loved one.

Carpets are stained and dirty. Furniture is old and could be replaced. Gutters on the outside are broken and sagging. No back up generator when power goes down.

Our loved one lived here for many years, but unfortunately now it is at a point where I could not recommend this community. Within the last year or so they've had a very high degree of staff turnover, and the service has declined dramatically. Their assisted living section also seems to be a very high percentage of residents with memory issues, which was not a great atmosphere socially for my loved one. The facility itself is beautiful, and I think if you are looking for someone with memory issues it might still be a good place.

If your family member is younger & mobile, this place is not for you!

The facility overall is very nice. The nursing staff really seem to care about their patients. However, the director told us before we moved in they were seeking a contract with Medicaid. We were told to move in quickly while space was still available. That was six months ago and the State still had not received an application from them. My mother's level of care was also increased without notifying me even though I'm partially responsible for her account.

My late mom moved here during Covid in 2020. we were glad to get her out of another facitlity at [facility removed]. However, at almost 97 she did pass August 2023 and liked her one bedroom at this place. but the care had been much better at [facility removed] but a terrible sequence of 22 deaths there during the peak of Covid. I would not recommend this place. they appeared to make no effort to avoid Covid variants.

The staff was friendly and building clean, but that was about the only positive. My calls were not returned, information was not provided in a timely matter, reception desk was unprofessional and I felt like my mom's care was not of highest priority. They also didn't communicate with each other and I would receive emails about unpacking her room while there was a 30-day notice of moving in place. The building was very clean and they kept my mom's room clean. When I was able to get a hold of someone or during visits I did not have any bad interactions. I believe the staff with my mom daily did the best they could but my mom regressed tremendously while in their care and has shown some improvement since being moved. I don't think they took the time to get to know her before making decisions on her care. I never had the food but my mom had no complaints. My moms continued to complain she was bored and staff stated they didn't have enough to keep her busy. The rooms were nice and kept up, but the services provided did not seem to match the fee I was paying. Since moving her to a different facility, I pay [removed] less but they keep her busy and understand what care is needed.

We liked how pretty the place is but they could hire and keep a good executive director...they went through several while dad was there. Based on the experience we had, we would not recommend Avenue 81 to other families.

Aged and worn physical facility, seemed to lack upkeep. The staff were very friendly and nice, however.

The facility was generally good and the staff appeared friendly, but administration issues appeared to exist such as a wooden palette lying in the lobby and similar, dining room tables not cleaned from lunch at 2:00, etc. We made an appointment for a tour and flew people in from out of town, and when we arrived the person we were there to meet was not in that day.

We toured Homestead of Lenexa and it seemed more tired and run down than the others we looked at. The room we were shown was not very clean and the room they were going to give her was run down and they were not going to change the carpet or anything like that. We were looking at this facility in the first place due to the fact that they do accept medicaid.

I would tell others that my father passed away in Timberwood less than 2 months after he went here. They waited until he had passed away to call me and tell me. It was horrible care and I would never recommend it to anyone. I talked to other families that were here at the same time my father was and they were pulling their family members out as well. Timberwood is good if your loved one is more independent, but they are not equip to deal with any additional care.

If you were looking at just the assisted living side it would be okay. If you're looking for the memory care side it is not a good one. We ended up moving my loved one out of the community. There were bruises on my loved one. There were times there was no staff in the memory care area. when we visited
