My loved one was previously a resident at Homestead of Kingfisher and the whole experience for her at this facility was terrible. On most days, there was no administration to be found. The food was TERRIBLE. There is no medication control. I would not recommend Homestead of Kingfisher to friends and family.

A new corporation recently took over the management of this facility. They do have a FEW direct care workers that are kind and knowledgeable workers. The facility is so poorly managed that the great workers they have seek positions elsewhere because they cannot survive in this hostile atmosphere. As a family member be prepared to advocate for your loved ones and do some of the personal cares yourself. They do not have enough staff and weekends there are even worse. It is no lie for me to say that I have witnessed times when your loved one does not have staff available to care for them in a timely manner. The food there is of poor quality and often times very small portions are provided. The facility is kept clean. I have witnessed overnight staff that sleeps while on duty and management does nothing about this when they are informed. Some of the workers are capable of swearing at the residents and are as rude as can be to family members that have questions. I would not advise placement

if it doesn't bother you that your loved one stays in the same clothes for days at a time, is allowed to sleep all day and night, isn't bathed for at least the same amount if time spent in the same clothes, fed food burnt beyond recognition, all the while surrounded by the rudest collection of people possible to assemble under one roof, this place is for you!!!!! the difference between the memory side and the assisted living side is a locked door, which is complimentary. missing trim, cobwebs, chipped paint is also included at no extra charge!!

Their patient care, nursing and Drs. Now that I look back I wish they would of offered 24 hour nursing care. I would of paid extra to get it but didn't realize that is what we needed until it was to late. We needed better patient care. I want to add that [name removed] was definitely a asset to the community. She had quit about halfway through our stay there. We were lost without her. [name removed] was very helpful and I trusted her but after it was to late. She did help us finalize everything. Doesn't matter about the name. Not safe for dementia patients. Not enough qualified staff for addequate care. My LO doesn't get regular showers. Food is no better and maybe worse than an elemtary school.

This community was just very dark and depressing not the environment we were looking for for our loved one.

My loved one was a resident here and fell several times, finally resulting in death.

When I first arrived to the community my room was very dirty. The shower had mold and hair in it, the refrigerator was not clean and the trash was very full. The room was just terribly dirty and to work the TV you had to plug it in and out. The people were very friendly, the food was excellent, the nurses could not of been nicer, but the 4 days I was there I was very disappointed.

Do not even consider this community. We had to move my loved one out. They weren't staffed appropriately and wanted us to be there for our loved one 24 hours a day, and said they couldn't handle our loved one. The rooms were big, and the overall look of the place inside was nice. I would suggest them dressing up the outside of the community. I don't think the community is ran well. The billing was wrong every time.

Stoneybrook Assisted living had poor administration, and lack of staff members to care for the residents there. They claimed to be a memory care facility, however the staff had no training in that area and did not know how to handle those residents. They had a medication failure with our loved one, they gave her an overdose and she did not wake up for two days. They had not idea how to handle her behavior caused by dementia. The rooms were adequate, but the maintenance of the rooms were not great. She went without a closet light leading into her bathroom for two weeks, and anytime we brought this to the administrations attention, it was never fixed in a timely manner.

Director left early, told no one about the appointment. [Name removed] gave me a tour, but no specifics were told to me. Could not even provide me with an activity list. Waste of my time.

This is not a place for your family member. Bed bugs management never there, no Nurse on duty. The nurse that is currently there very rude. Giving wrong meds from the nurse on duty. Never checking on patients that fell or incident reports being done. Management not taking responsible for the nurse mistakes. Non medical personal working the floor due to staff shortage.

At first my Mom loved this place and she was so happy. Loved most of the staff and believe most loved her as well. They have had a lot of turnover since moving in about 2 years ago. Mom became ill and was sent to the hospital then to a Skilled Unit to build up strength. When she was ready to go back to Chaucer, her level of care had returned to the place where she was before the hospital...so same level of care. This is what I heard from the PA and from the Staff at the Skilled Care Facility. BUT, when the Director of Nursing came with a Nurse to assess her for her return to Chaucer...things took an ugly and unfair turn. The Director does not know my Mother very well but the Nurse did. The nurse at the SCF was in on the assessment and said the Nurse from Chaucer agreed every time that the things they were doing at the SCF were the same...Nothing had changed. But when she was going to be dismissed from SCF, I was told they could NOT take her back. The reasons given were that Mom could not walk to the dining room. They have many residents who can not walk to the dining room and that they had no RN at night. Now...how can they operate legally with no RN at night??? They have residents with lots of needs...,not just my Mom. The staff at the SCF tried to justify that my Mom should be able to go back there...and this was all she wanted. The answer was still no. The PA was adjusting medication which should not have been a problem as well. There was no real answer why she could not go back other than she was turned away unfairly. I know I could go back there and find several whose needs were at the same level or higher than my Moms. Many thought this was a horrible way to treat my Mother who only wanted to return where she was happy and NO reason she should have been turned away. I also was not told when this assessment was going to take place so I could advocate for my Mom. I feel had I been there it would have been a different outcome...but I was not included nor told when it was going to take place. This a sad way to treat the elderly when they still have their independence and should be allowed to live where they can live and thrive. This whole ordeal has diminished my Mom's mental well being. I would encourage anyone to think this through before deciding to place your loved one here.... I am not just a disgruntled family member as they may try to justify it by saying that. I miss the original Executive Director [Removed], The previous Nursing Director,[Removed] the Marketing Manager who we grew to love. They left this place all about the same time.... They had a kind heart. Not sure this would have happened if they still had been there. We had only 1 week to find another Assisted Living....and YES Chaucer my Mom can still go back to an Assisted Living NOT a nursing home as you suggested. They willingly took her without reservation. Shame on YOU Chaucer!!!!!!

I toured this community. I was not happy with the cleanliness of the community. I could not see my father here and the community looked like a bad fit for my father. The staff was not friendly and did not seem to care. I think other families might not accept this community.

This is the place to go if you want the run around regarding payments, coverage and care. They are not above bullying the advocates and ignoring the patients. They are about to be sued for negligence.

We were not impressed with this community and it was not what we were looking for for our loved one. It just did not give off the right feeling.

My mother was moved here when Homestead of Leawood closed it's doors to remodel during Covid. Unfortunately we went from bad to worse. Save yourself a lot of frustration and don't put your loved one here. Missed showers, medication errors, verbal abuse from staff. My mom slipped out of her wheelchair partly because she didn't have a leg brace on and was sitting on a pillow because her cushion was lost. Nothing was done about her brace and the second fall sent her to the hospital. I am still trying to get them to put on her brace! They lie to you. No one cares. Especially not the upper management. It's sad, cruel and criminal.

My mom has been there since 2012. It was wonderful for the first 5-6 years then it started to decline. This last year has been the worst. Short staff, no cleaning, laundry was horrible, food was horrible and it's been a revolving door for staff, including nurses and directors. As this wasn't bad enough, cooperate decided to close do do a remodel; during Covid! All residents were moved to other Homestead Facilities. We were lied to and the move was a nightmare. Staff packed and things were just thrown in boxes, stuff was broke and lost and they didn't care. Homestead of Lenexa is where my mother was moved to and it's probably worse. Missed showers or our loved ones being left alone in the shower. Medication errors. NO communication what so ever. My mom fell out of her wheelchair because she didn't have a brace on that should of been on and was taken to the ER. And they still haven't put it on! All of my emails go unanswered. My advice, stay away from any Homestead facility!

When I walked in the building it look nice and clean 2/14/2019.. I spoke to the nurse her name is [Name removed] she was very rude she seemed like she was very busy and didn't have time to talk. I spoke to a lady named [Name removed] about the finance and she was very rude!!! Her phone kept going off!!! I feel that it was unprofessional and disrespectful. I went on a tour with [Name removed] he is the maintenance man he was very nice the rooms was nice and roomy I like the knobs that's on the cabinet doors it's a nice facility but they need to get retrain their people in the office to have better business skills and to be more professional because they will run people off with their attitudes I am not going to put my father in this facility because of that reason!!!!

The power went out and the facility has no back up generators to help people that are on oxygen!!! There was no emergency plan put in place and the manager left the facility during the crisis!!!! Do not send your loved one to this place. Not enough people to care for the residence there. All they can say is that they don't have Money for anything!!!
