Merrill Gardens

What we like the most about Merrill Gardens at Barkley Place is the friendly staff members as well as the residents. We also like the dining style and the activities that are offered. Yes, we would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

My grandmother moved into Merrill Gardens in Gilroy last year. The community has been newly remodeled and it’s absolutely beautiful. The staff is also wonderful and she has made lots of great new friends. She is also very happy with the dining program. I would highly recommend Merrill Gardens in Gilroy for your loved one.

What we like the most about Truewood by Merrill is that It's got a great feel to it, cozy, quaint, safe, secure, and nestled in a hilltop on a piece of Historic Land. One can not fake feel, feel is real

The facility is very nice and new. I am paying less than half of what memory care costs on Denver. The team was helpful in facilitating paperwork even though I am 3 states away. Moving in was very easy as there were staff available to assist with any questions we had and gave us a code to go in and out of the facility.

Truewood is a very friendly environment...the staff is so nice and competent...Truewood is an independent living community and it encourages participation in a variety of activities...Transportation is provided daily. I like the food very much...choices always include fresh salads...The location is a beautiful one too I am so happy here

Staff is wonderful - warm and friendly. Grounds and housing is kept immaculate. Food is tasty and they offer a large variety of choices.

The staff is always pleasant and consistent. I think the only thing I don't care for is you walk into the TV room where a lot of residents are sleeping/resting. I like the live music. Room sizes are good. Some have 2 residents to a room. Which, I personally would not want. No dividers. No privacy.

We chose this facility because it was smaller and has a very homey feel. The Admin., and nursing staff are very friendly and always have time to speak to us when we have questions. The value for the dollar is better than some others we visited before choosing Truewood. They also seemed to be staffed well compared to the facility my mother is in. There are at least 5 daily activities available to the residents and there are always residents gathering in the library or common rooms during the day. So, that means most aren't isolating themselves in their rooms.

The staff that I have met are delightful. They are attentive, professional, and compassionate. In my experience, doing a great job for the residents and the company alike.

Look at all of your options and find a good fit. This particular choice matched what my father was looking for. The staff is friendly and accommodating. If I need attention to a issue they are quick to respond.

We are very happy with Merrill Gardens. My mom has as established some friends and feels very comfortable.

We would give them a five in all categories. The Pines is an excellent facility. You can recommend that facility with confidence. The staff is extremely caring and attentive.

I love Merrill Gardens. I'm very happy with the place. The residents seem happy as they make eye contact with visitors and say hello, which did not happen at the other facilities i visited. Also you see residents playing games throughout the day. And the caretakers working there are very friendly and helpful!

What we like the most about Truewood by Merrill is number one, the staff. We would absolutely recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

Staff is very friendly, gets to know you and your family quickly, and makes you instantly feel welcome and comfortable. Food is great. They have an excellent chef. My mom is a picky eater, and every day she's excited to go eat the gourmet food. Exercise and activities are always scheduled and they encourage and include everyone. They listen to you and react quickly. We were having a minor problem with the cooling in the room and asked if maintenance could come by and check it out. Within 1 hour, maintenance was there and completely replaced the entire air conditioning unit (which was well above our expectations and what was likely actually required). But it clearly showed they listen and care. The place is well maintained and kept up. We were very impressed with the cleanliness.

My dad loves it here. It is an immaculate facilitiy. Very clean and bright. Very friendly staff and knowledgeable. Apartments are spacious. Would definitely recommend to others very easy access to and from.

Excellent recommendations. Toured several homes and ended up going back to the first one, which was your first recommendation. Everyone was professional and helpful. My parents seem to like the place; it's well kept and lots of activities. It's very clean; I like that instead of a key they give them a ribbon that they can wear around their neck that has a 'fob' as opposed to a key for their apartment....they just hold up to the door lock area; it unlocks then they turn a knob for the bolt....no fumbling (or losing) with a key. They also have cleaning service and sheet changing (I think weekly) that's included in their rent. My parents are on ground floor and have a small patio.....it has a metal fence/gate around it.....it's nice when we visit as we can park and just go to patio door and not have to go thru building. They seem to like the meals although my dad has commented a couple times they were out of what he wanted. But other than that I haven't really heard any complaints.

Administrative staff - 0 (I expect this will get better, now that there's new management. [name removed] was really just terrible.) Food, quality and options, over the last few months, really declined. It does seem to be improving. .Activities N/A - since my mom passed away my dad is not participating in the activities at all. Oh yes, we would recommend this community to other families. It was really great while my mom was still very active. She declined very quickly due to dementia in the last three or four months. She passed away the end of [date removed]. But yes, it was a wonderful facility when she was using it to its full extent. My dad just is kind of a couch potato and doesn't want to socialize or do anything.

Everything is great! We love it. Many of the faculty have been there for over 20 years. Staff are friendly and seem happy to work there.
