Administration, nursing and care staff changed. Communication was never great but fell apart. Thef left mom in her bed all day long and I went in many times to find her stool unflushed and bathroom messy. Her hair not washed. At times I found bed soiled but this was hit and miss. I'd never put her there now.

I was there almost every day at different times so I saw many things that most family members do not. There was limited staff during the weekends. My mother was almost blind and was not assisted with eating meals such as cutting up meat, etc. I emptied her trash many times as it was not done on a regular basis. Most of the staff were pleasant. There were a few who were excellent. As mom's health declined, we opted for hospice care which was wonderful. Our family's experience would recommend for those who are mostly independent. A nice community with some room for improvement.

Lack of staff where aides prioritize who gets care. No activities. They plop them in front of the tv while aides play on their phones. Sometimes there is a movie on and sometimes there is just a screensaver with music. Little to no activities for memory care. They cater to independent living where the better foods including desserts are served. Memory care is an after thought at Heartis.

I admit it: I did not want to hear that my loved one needed to move from independent living straight to memory care. I could see that he was becoming more disoriented and disheveled, but he enjoyed being part of a big, conversational community. As he was assessed by his doctor and various care facilities, it was obvious that he straddled the line between assisted living and memory care. I chose Arbor House Assisted Living, but quickly regretted it, because my loved one just did not have the ability to adjust. The staff really tried to help him as much as they could. I had many discussions with the leadership; they were very sympathetic. But assisted living is NOT the step between independent living and memory care. He was moved to memory care after three weeks.

I don't this facility has the staff to effectively care for residents who are not mobile. My mother-in-law is not weight bearing and requires more care than those who can move about without help. It takes two people to move her and therefore she may sit in her wheelchair for long periods of time before they can get to her. It's our desire that she eat in the dining room, but there again, it takes 2 people to get her into a wheelchair. It's easier for them for her to simply eat in her room. This keeps her from socializing and costs $10 each time she eats in her room. The staff is very pleasant, but they admit that they're understaffed at the present time. I thing our mother requires more care than the typical resident and puts a greater work burden on the staff. [name removed], the head of nursing, is wonderful and keeps them on top of anything regarding her health.

There is constant staff turnover. Occasionally they miss laundry and house cleaning. The food is average, they have trouble keeping a chef. Very ordinary meals. Lots of turnover for the activity director. Missed activities on holidays. There is a constant increase in the monthly care rate. Friendly staff, but a great deal of staff turnover. Monthly care costs frequently increase, but it remains the nicest, most luxe accommodations in Topeka

Smells like stale smoke. Food is horrible. Staff is pretty good for most part. They are trying.

It's a good place overall. My main two complaints would be the rent has increased multiple times over the past year and a half, and the quality of food and food servers has decreased immensely. Very disappointed about that.

We had a tough start. Very understaffed but I think that is the norm. Most disappointed in the food. For the premium price paid for a nice place, I would expect food to be better.

Mealtimes are important. When they leave you feeling, overlooked or ignored, it is stressful. Weekends are usually short staffed and very chaotic. Regular staff serving meals would be a plus, because using "resident caregivers " as servers does not work well. So ask who is serving meals and drinks. You want employees dedicated to serving meals, not dressing residents in the morning and dispensing their medication.

The nurses did not call hospice when my Mom became ill. Communication needs improvement, when a person is on hospice, that should be first call made if any problems. Recommendation - remind nursing to call hospice

Crescent Fields is an impressive facility. It is brand new, clean and offers so much in terms of activities, transportation to appointments and menu selection, the only drawback was room size- bit with so much to offer, who would stay in their room all day. We were extremely excited for our parents to start a new life there. Unfortunately, due to staffing issues and turnover or administration a lot of the activities are canceled. They can only accommodate transportation to appointments 2 days a week and the menu keeps getting smaller. We are hopeful this is temporary… because our parent are happy here!!!

I would say that they are not on top of their job. I feel as though they are shortstaffed and cannot accommodate like they should. Communication is not at its best with some staff members. It took me almost 2 months before they finally got physical therapy for my sister, which worries me because what if it was something more serious. I have only remained with Legends because I don't know that any other place is going to be any better.

We went into the facility under the assisted living. Room and board were great. Housekeeping staff was awesome and food was excellent. There were concerns on treatment levels. I felt she had the same level of care despite the increase in her plan and costs. Communication regarding her care was minimal. She also transitioned from assisted living to memory care and I feel the transition was handled very poorly. Then when in memory care, they did not have the staff to adequately care for patients. At times there was one staff member for 12 patients for a full shift. Upper management was very poor. Most of the caregivers were very good, but often short staffed. I ultimately moved my mom to a new facility. The initial move in process was smooth, but I also felt they told me they could accommodate certain things and then couldn't after we moved in. Even some of the staff members told me they would not put their own moms there. Also, some areas of the facility were run down... outdoor furniture was rotting in sun... couldn't sit without splinters. Back patio was utilized more by staff than residents. Memory care patio was a mess. Landscaping was over run. I would not recommend this facility to others.

If they had the proper staff to care for my Dad and for the other residents that live there, I think it would be a great place and my dad would still be there. It's a shame. I would not recommend this facility to others at this time.

It's beautiful at Acclaim Living and the residents are super sweet. My mom is well liked and included. It's just the food, the staff, her room, and well it's a lot of money. It's a great place, but NEW MANAGEMENT! I wish they went on outings more or changed the bingo, art class, eat..walk the halls routine. They try hard, mom says.

Best of the worst. Facility is good but company struggles to get enough employees. Food was not at all up to par, big disappointment. We picked due to proximity and being a nice facility (no smell, good maintenance).

We were initially pleased with Renaissance. It had no institutional smell, and appeared very clean. It also offered availability for dogs, which for my mother was a must. We found that they had availability very close to a door, which also pleased her, for walking the dog. Unfortunately, they are quite short on staff, especially on weekends; often, nobody answers the phone when I try to return a call from the nurse. The maintenance person also told us that his staff had been severely reduced. On the plus side, nursing staff appears adequate and well trained. The food is average.
