I would advise others - you better make sure you know what you're buying and getting for the money you're paying. I think they have to evaluate their patients more extensively, and refuse patients if they don't think they can provide the care that's necessary for them.

Sunrise of Lenexa just felt sad and dark to us. The rooms reminded me of hotel rooms and were so tiny, it felt like you were just living in a bedroom. The facility is surrounded by a lot of trees. The location was also great. It was just not the right fit for our loved one.

It's been favorable overall, but we do have a few areas of concern. The care is good except for medications - they have made errors in ordering medication as well in as administering it ,which is not acceptable. So the nursing staff needs some improvement. But the staff in general are workable when you come to them with concerns, and we're making some progress. And the cleanliness and décor of the facility are good.

The Linden was spotlessly clean. You could eat off the floor. But the rooms were TINY. And the common area was way to small for all the residents to enjoy.

Our family had an in person tour and the experience was just okay, we heard from word of mouth from other families that residents were leaving because of the cleanliness factor

I've visited a friend before and took a tour. great assisted living.

I would not recommend it. We had 2 price increases in a 3 month period. We moved our loved one out. We didn't feel her medication was properly managed.

We have little and limited experience with Renaissance we rely on feedback from our loved one but overall we do think the community atmosphere is good. Our loved one has type 2 diabetes and we do notice the meals to be pretty carb heavy, we do wish they were more protein based. They need to have more dietary options for those with dietary restrictions.

Not as nice as the others

They are really short staffed at this community and I would say to look elsewhere if it is possible due to what this community is going through. The staff that are here are great there is just currently a shortage of staff to care for the residents. The tour was good and they were able to give me all of the information that I needed they just were not able to provide the care that my loved one needs.

I would tell others not to send their loved ones here. If they have any medical problems, they will probably die. That's what happened to my loved one.

Our family had an in person tour and in terms of the building it was being remodeled so everyone was stuck in their rooms, and the staff was saying it was due to covid even though at that time covid had really calmed down. We just did not see any activities, there was really not a soul in site. The biggest red flag was it stunk to the high heavens, just throughout different rooms in the community.

This community was okay just did not think it was a good fit for my loved one. The tour guide gave a lot of info and great tour just was not the right fit.

Sunrise of McCandless was an older facility and seemed kind of drab. It just didn't seem lively enough for my loved one, who is full of life. The staff was more laid back, and I just wasn’t impressed with the level of activity available.

Our family had an in person tour and it was not the best tour, the agent was fairly new so she really did not have a bunch of answers for the questions we had. Also the duplex we looked at was rather small and did not have a lot of natural lighting.

Our experience has been fine, but we just moved our loved one in a few months ago and there have been multiple rate increases when we were told we would not see any in the first year. The only other issue we have had is they don't have a good solution to reach our loved one after hours in case there was an emergency. Overall we have been pleased with the experience other than those frustrations.

Only send someone there if you can go and monitor what they are doing correctly.

HCD turnover has made community about my loved one difficult. Activities Director very good at job, most aides pleasant and helpful, care is good in MC, but sometimes I've observed staff just sitting and looking at cell phone. Communication between care staff and hospice workers could be better. Generally clean. Directors email updates are useful. Maintenance staff is excellent!

Willow Bend is a beautiful building and facilities. However, the food is quite inconsistent as sometimes it is quite good and other time it is very bad (undercooked bread/rolls, way too much salt, etc.). Some of the staff are very friendly and helpful while others are not. Some staff work very diligently but there are others who look like they are always trying to get out of work. I have rarely seen the top administrator walking around the building to just check on things as she is almost always just in her office and seems to not be around several work days each week. I also do not see her in the evenings or weekends at all when she would benefit from checking in on the workers on the various shifts so she would know more about what is going on in the facilities. She is not always very friendly and when I talk to her she doesn’t listen well and makes me feel like she doesn’t have time to speak with the residents. The general communication with the residents could be better and more consistent. It would also be nice if the residents would all receive a regularly updated staff and resident directory. I am concerned that there has been a high level of staff turnover in recent months. Almost all of the top staff have recently left to take other positions, many of them citing that they were unhappy with the top administrator. There was also a very long period of time when there were many vacant resident rooms and this was concerning to me.
