toured and found feasible. Could only afford the smallest apartment and really too small. Encountered some bad odors which kind of turned me off-smelled like a nursing home

They have would take a five in activities, even if my loved one doesn’t do a lot of them – the do have a lot of activities available. They are very well managed and they do a very good job. They’re so much better than where we had out loved one before.

Visited office, warm friendly staff. Menu adequate, allows for substitutions, they told us of many activities that residents can participate in. Invited to opening of the Ortega facility on Sunday. Will have a better feel when we can see the physical building and meet staff. RN coordinator and LPN's on staff. So there are professionals on site. More after Sunday

Too Expensive.Very nice place though.

The facility is spotless and classy, with caring, concerned staff members. Some of the activities entice even those who tend to be loners. The Nurse on site 24/7 has been the most impressive feature here, and the most beneficial. My mom has fallen several times without having the paramedics called in. If there are questions about meds etc. a nurse calls the Dr. And takes care of it. Peace of mind for me! The food is a 3 of 5, adequate but not great. There are occasional glitches in care such as shower times, but they get worked out. It is not one on one care, but all my mom's needs have been met. Even incontinence is handled with compassion. I feel good about my mom's new home.

Overall, we are pleased. One area of improvement would be the overall quality of the food. Also, the friendliness of the staff could use a little improvement. A couple of the staff members don't seem to have the brightest attitude. I understand it's a tough job and most of the staff would be a 4, but some of them are not the friendliest. However, we were initially impressed by the facility and the staff members we met. They were also one of the only ones in Lawrence that will take medicaid after their funds run out. We felt real comfortable here and it's close to home, so we didn't even look anywhere else!

it was a lovely facility and I think mom would be very happy there. Unfortunately, they did not have a room that she needs, and offered me the next size up, for a reduced rate for 3 months. If one is not available in 3 months, I would be responsible for the entire rent for the larger room. I am thinking about putting a deposit on the smaller, original room, but who knows when one will be available.

The only reason I did not give a higher ranking on some areas is because my loved one has not been their a year. I would give 5+ stars for the facility lay out and set up. The food is very good and they are very generous with it. They have lots of activities and a bus to take residents out for a little excursion and sometimes to get ice cream. Hailey, the RN is very receptive and very caring.

Other than a corner room with a southern and western exposure, views were a little limited. Food is probably best here, but it is also the most expensive. Mom does not drink, never has, so the 3 glasses of free wine per day would be a bit of a turn-off to her.

Sunrise is a great facility offering an opportunity to move in and stay until your final departure. Memory care center was set up very well. 3 floors in the facility. Indoor and outdoor patio areas. Will address special dietary needs. Walking path around facility. Right on the corner of 87th and Lackman. Not sure I care for the location however it is closest to Dad's current dialysis center. Transportation to Walmart/Target, casino, etc. No medical transportation provided.

The staff is very friendly, but not responsive. Like when I call to speak with someone, they don't get back to me. Recently, there is a new administrator and she sent a letter saying that they are working on it, and that they recognize that it is a problem. Aesthetically, it's very nice, and overall I definitely recommend it. It's a little expensive, but we have LTC so that worked out. We are happy to have my mother there. The dining room is just gorgeous, the lobby, the activity room, it's all great. There is a library right down the hall from my mom's room. They have a church. We are in a very fortunate situation.

This too was a nice place but the location is going to be inconvenient for me and my sister to get to.

This place was really nice but it seemed a little bit more independent so it was nice but it would not have been applicable to my grandmother's situation.

We did take a look at this one and we were very impressed with it but again it was too expensive for us. The staff is top notch, the activities are great, and it's very clean with nice rooms. Everything about it was impressive.

I really like their overall hominess – I think that’s the best word for it. It really felt more like a family. The downside was their rooms were very small and it also felt very crowded. Maybe because of that a lot of the residents were out in the common areas so there was a lot of interaction which I thought was good. So socially, I would rate it high but for day to day living, not quite so high because the apartments were small. They did not have transportation.

We moved our mother to the assisted living facility in July. The apartment, dining, and activity areas are beautiful and well-attended to. During her first week there, my mother developed a severe UTI and had to be hospitalized for one week. She was too ill to return to the assisted living facility, so upon her dismissal she returned to the nursing home facility on the same campus. I was so impressed that the Park West administrator visited my mother while in the hospital and was so accommodating by having my mother's things moved to a room in the nursing home and ready for her upon her dismissal from the hospital. She also arranged for my mother's transportation there. At that time, we had no idea how long her recovery and to what extent it would take. To ease our stress, the administrator let us leave the remainder of our mother's furnishings in her apartment for several weeks until we could make the determination if or when she could return. Our family, along with the nursing home staff, determined that our mother needed to remain in the nursing home. It has taken time, but she has now adjusted, made new friends, and has come to love the friendly, caring staff. She has adjusted and now realized that it is in her best interest to be where she is.

Like the staff and they seem to have good care. Clean and like the layout.

Very Clean, expensive, no pool no real gym just two machines. good food. mostly people we observed were in wheel chairs with oxygen. Nice staff, friendly. Month to month

Mom really liked this facility. Very homey and they have a special floor for "pre-dementia" patients.
