The most important thing is that they are not a skilled nursing facility, so if the patient has diabetes or another condition, they really – I met with them up front and told them my loved one was diabetic – they said they could take care of it – but they aren’t licensed to check blood sugar and make decisions about medication. I moved my loved one.

Overall, everything seems to be going well here for my loved one. We had another relative that had lived in an Emeritus location previously, and that was a pleasant experience, so we decided to use them again. They seem to be doing well so far!

It was beautiful, and they seemed to be very attentive. Everything was very elaborate, they had a guest bar with deserts and such. It was overwhelming for us, like a 10 star hotel with too many decorations, and was just too overdone. It was very upscale, and just not a comfortable environment for us.

The cleanliness, the friendliness, it is gorgeous. It is like being on a cruise ship except you are not rocking. She has done bingo, she helped create the Christmas ornaments, she's done caroling. They have someone to come in every week to play piano, and there's wine and cheese on the weekends. The other thing is that when I called Dawn, who is in charge of the admissions, she invited us to lunch before my mother came and saw the place. The food is excellent!! My husband were very impressed. I think they could improve the disbursement of medication; it's a good thing my mom has all her marbles because she knows how many pills and which she should be taking. She's has had some issues where she has had to send people back to get different pills. Overall, we are very happy. The Windsor stood out as a step above.

My siblings and I are very happy with Sunrise Senior Living in Upper St. Clair. My Mom seems to be pleased as well.

Toured the facility. It is not a five star resort, but then the prices reflect that. The rent is month to month, and the apartments are not furnished, but furnishings can be supplied. Pros not too big that a person can get lost, easy access with two elevators, nice court yard area with screened lanai. The facility is geared around social interaction, and encouraging people to mingle and talk. The various amenities include lots of living rooms with televisions, games, a library, a small "spa", a "gym" with a treadmill and recline bike, and several types of dining areas ranging from a place to get a cup of coffee, a more formal dining room, and a "kitchen" style dining area. The apartments are small but laid out well with features such as nurse call pulls, a spacious walk in shower, and hurricane windows. A nurses station provides care and the staff can set up doctor's appointments as well as arrange for transportation to and from doctor's offices, they also deal with medications etc. The staff are friendly, and not all the residents are wheelchair bound. [removed] I did smell the faint scent of ammonia/urine in places, but I can't be certain if that was from the facility or not.

I have my Mother there and she is getting excellent care. The staff could not be more helpful.

Lovely facility with lots to do. Friendly people. Two negatives are (a) the housekeeping service included in the fee is minimal; be prepared to do your own housekeeping or find a service and (b) getting responses from management sometimes requires multiple prompts. Otherwise I would recommend this place for retirement living.

Most of the staff members are jolly and knowledgeable of all the tenants.. room sizes vary but have many options which is nice and all the common areas are open modern yet homey and clean. I would recommend the community to others - if you are looking for a grandparent homey clean feel this place is for you.

I would give Revelle 4 out of 5 stars. They recently hired a new director and have also made some changes to the staff. I really like the new director and feel that she is committed to making positive changes and creating a more consistent experience for the residents. The biggest area I feel could use improvement is the dining service. The food itself is very good, and my mom enjoys the meals, but there are times when it takes a long time for residents to receive their food. Overall, my mom enjoys living at Revelle, and that is what matters most to me. I have been encouraged by the recent changes and feel that the new director has the potential to make things even better. Based on our experience, I would recommend Revelle to others considering it for their loved one.

The room is a perfect size (1 br w/efficiency kitchen) she also has a door to the patio with 2 rockers. We're having some issues with the billing; there is a charge from May which still hasn't been fixed. We are having a problem getting high definition tv in her room and they stopped making her bed in the morning. We've been told they don't do that, but how can a woman with a walker be expected to make her own bed. She seems to be adjusting well and participating in some of the games/activities so that is great!

It was a very polite showing of the facility. It did not fit what we were looking for in a care facility for my mother.

The facility is very nice and clean. They did have a lot of activities for the residents but mainly geared to women, ie. Crafts and flower stuff etc. My brother didn't really have an interest in those activities. They did go all out for holidays though and I loved that. The staff were very nice but not very responsive to resident call buttons. They seemed to take way too long to respond. The food was good and plentiful. Although the residents I met there weren't always happy with the food. I thought it was pretty good. The room was a studio apt. And was clean. No complaints there. The admin staff and activity directors were great! The nursing staff and PT People were nice as well. No complaints.

The facilities are clean and beautiful, and staff overall is friendly and helpful. While weekly housekeeping is included in rent, residents are somewhat at their mercy as far as when they come, sometimes catching residents off guard. My mother feels it is an invasion of privacy so has mostly refused their services. When she has requested specific things to be cleaned, they are not always quick to respond.

It was an excellent facility. Well appointed. Staff was attentive to residents and really cared. When my Mom was passing, we were with her all the time including overnight, and they were very kind to bring us some refreshments. My only two concerns were that they appeared to be understaffed in the memory care unit and it could be difficult to get a call back when working with the nursing staff/PA to adjust my mom's medication.

Staff/care - Solid overall. It would be nice to get updates from the staff (weekly or bi-weekly) to know how he's doing. I get updates from family and friends who visit him, but not the staff. Activities - seem to have a lot for the residents to do. Food - seems to be good for the residents. Room size - good. Cleanliness - Seems to be good. Only main negative i have is how expensive it is per month.

I have parents in both memory care and assisted living and so far so good. I would have to give a shout out to [name removed] the front agent at the desk, she is amazing and always so helpful, goes above and beyond. Love her too pieces. All the staff are polite and friendly but [name removed] really stands out. The place is always so clean and they take pride in how the house looks and smells. Every time I visit my folks there's always the smell of fresh baked cookies and popcorn and it's always inviting. My folks are in a studio on each side and I believe that is a good size for them.

While my parent was at Legend in [date removed] , my experience is that the residents were safe there, and were attended to with kindness and respect by most all staff most all the time. I never saw any indication of neglect. [name removed] the care manager truly could not be any better. She responds quickly to communication, is organized and on top of things, and is extremely patient and caring. She takes initiative to get home health services set up (of which my parent needed many). She and the on-staff PA worked well together. Another stand-out is [name removed] who runs the front desk on weekdays. She is incredibly warm and helpful. As far as the space—it’s a beautiful facility, and the common areas are kept very clean. Some of the more social residents spend a fair amount of time out in the main lobby area. The building has some large and spacious apartments—even one-bedrooms. There is an a/c unit in each room. A con in the apartments is no pad between the concrete floor and the carpet. They offer regular activities, and I saw the activity director frequently when I was there. The outdoor area is not as nice as some facilities—though some of the views from the 2nd floor are gorgeous. There is a lovely courtyard, but a resident confined to a wheelchair would need to call for a staff person to take them out and bring them back in. The elevator is nice and large for moving in and out. While the main areas and hallways are beautiful, I wish they would do something to make it easier for residents to find their rooms. I got turned around many times, and I don’t have dementia. The only staff member my parent complained about was one of the main servers in the dining area--whom I also experienced to be quite negative and abrupt to the point of rudeness. I think the dining service is the weakest link at Legend. Meals took an extremely long time, and my parent was scolded when they got up to get a server's attention because they had been forgotten. I heard more than once of residents leaving after an hour because they hadn't been served. They frequently did not serve what was listed on the menu. And sometimes they just ran out of things such as salad dressing. I hope these comments help others who are trying to find a place for their loved one!

Food service was very slow, but has improved. There are no medical services for Independent Living residents. The staff is friendly. My apartment size is large and comfortable.

Administration communication is sub-par. The room rate increased without prior notification. Emails and calls to the front office staff go unanswered. Maintenance requests can take weeks to be addressed. The receptionist ([name removed]) cannot answer any questions no matter how generic. The staff are kind, friendly and know the residents and their families. The new activities director is receptive to ideas and making sure residents are enjoying themselves. The food is tasty and nutritious.
