Initial cursory visit. Non- responsive after follow-up contact. Stopped returning calls.

There are benefits and concerns my family and I have with this community. The community is very clean and feels very comfortable. The apartments are large, and pleasant. The concerns we have are that, when we toured the community, we were invited to try the meals. The meal we were given consisted of a main course and salad which was nutritious, and now that my loved one has moved in, that has declined significantly. Now my loved one receives things like a piece of fish bread or a hotdog and chips. No fresh fruit or salads. This makes us feel betrayed. We understand that sometimes changes occur, we would still expect it would only take a couple of weeks, Also, during our tour they told us there would be a lot of activities which have not happened yet, my loved one.We have been very patient and reluctant. The community itself is nice.

This community has recently gone through a major change in staffing. Just about all of the management has been changed. We did hear some complaints about the night staff not being as nice as the day staff. We had to call to get some things cleaned in the apartment. The food is still good. You do not hear back from the person you requested to speak with. We are hoping this is a temporary change as the communication between the staff as well as with the families is not there.

We toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one. Brookdale Joliet seemed like a nice enough place, it was clean and the residents seemed well cared for. However, I didn't really like the care setup here, things just felt a little impersonal and I wasn't sure my loved one would be comfortable here.

I will give this facility one more try as to a tour and visit when last we were there a lot of the people staying there were ill with some form of Colon issue therefore we did not have the opportunity to see any of the residents staying there or really any staff everybody was very sparse

We were going to move here, but things fell through. Every time I would call to ask questions, I would kind of get the run around. The salesperson was very good and worked well with me. But if it was that difficult to get an answer when we weren't there yet, how difficult was it going to be when we were there.

We have one resident living in independent living and one resident living in the memory care unit. In the memory care unit they need to pay more attention to the residents, there is not enough care provided.

Residents not as happy or at home. Tile floors everywhere made it fell more institutional than other places I have visited.

Bella Vista is a beautiful community in a equally lovely setting across from a park on Lake Winnebago. There are 5 floors, long lovely corridors and spacious accommodations. The only thing that concerned us is what appeared to be insufficient staff available. For our mother who needs 24/7 assistance, there just did not seem to be enough staff to give her this care.

Emeritus at Joliet Courtyard doesn't deliver on the things they promise upon admission. They are supposed to be providing supplies but then they expect family to bring supplies. I am paying for a package deal which has supplies included so when I have to buy them separately and bring them this just doesn't make sense. They also up charge for the patient needing more assistance when they really don't need to. They just have not delivered in what I thought they were going to.

Dana was very nice. I thought the facility was nicely set up. But I didn't feel I got a very complete tour. The residents seemed very happy. But my mother is more social and mobil than most of the residents I did see. The price was also an issue. But if my mother had the resources I would give this a second look.

Very nice but a little far to drive. They are remodeling and they just changed owners, so everything is a little unsure. Denise was very nice and helpful. Studio a little small. Not in love with being a second floor and the only room available on the first floor is at the very end.

The people here are really nice but we only kept my Dad there 3 months. He can still walk around, feed himself and take care of bathroom details. He just needed to be reminded to shower/shave, clean clothes, etc. The shower detail wasn't monitored well...we had issues with that, often having to remind them about that detail. Most of the time, it appeared to me that the residents just roamed around with few activities besides meals and the occasional games...his room was barely cleaned other than a light bathroom cleaning. When we moved him out, the hardwood floors looked really dirty. It appears to be more "existing" vs. living. For the amount of money they charge per month, we expected a LOT more. We had a family member visit almost every day to stay on top of things. If you can do home heath care, I would highly recommend that over these types of facilities.

First of all I live in the community and her doctor is there. It’s a very safe environment. They could put processes in place – for example when you are dropping off your significant other there is a book you’re given, but people don’t follow procedures. We indicated many times that my loved one is allergic for fish... the servers need to be much, much more careful. They just dumped my mother’s laundry on the bed and they said that she could fold it. They need to have a way to pass instructions from one shift to another. This ought to be the responsibility of the head nurse. The medicine was fine. That was given to her daily.

I would give the food a two. The care was lacking, some of the services that were included in the level of care we were paying for weren't being done. I feel like they would have them up and around and not dress them appropriately, no socks, not wearing and undershirt, that kind of thing. I don't feel they were properly watched or supervised. I really liked the people and I felt good and thought it was the right thing to do. When we toured they said that they could accommodate the level of care that we needed and there was no indication that they wouldn't be able to do so. However they never seemed to have enough aides to do what they said they could. She wasn't getting good nutrition. They were so helpful at the beginning. They even did a thorough medical assessment. It's such a shame, it's a beautiful setting overlooking a beautiful wetlands preserve, but the care is just not there.

My loved one lived here before we moved her elsewhere, and they always seemed a bit understaffed to me. It wasn't a bad place, but she wasn't getting the attention I'd like. When we visited it seemed like much of the time they had just parked her in front of a TV or a window for hours.

I know we were very impressed with the head nurse. She was very, very willing to help us kind of reach out because we needed to get mom up from medical transport for Florida and she was willing to use her contacts to help us. We had no idea how to go about it. I think they were the cottage set up which wasn't what we were shooting for for mom.

The grounds are nice with shade and chairs for people to enjoy. The food looks good and they allow small pets such as dogs less than 30 pounds and cats. It has a lodge type environment to it. Plus the sit down shower is nice and they check on dad to make sure that he is ok.

Visit went well. MHM is a wonderful facility, but it seems geared more to a memory care resident as opposed to a minimal-care assisted living resident. There will be an opening soon, but only in a semi-private capacity.

I liked this place and it was second on my list.
