Disappointed

I haven't been happy with the quality of care and my experience there. That was one of the biggest decision mistakes of my life. I decided to keep my husband there because it would cause to much stress to move him to a different location. I am not happy or satisfied with the facility. Although I paid the monthly dues, the receipts were made to give credit to the resident. The front office manager refused to correct the invoices! Just a nightmare!

I would not recommend this facility to anyone that would be on the third floor.

Elance at Old Town is a terrible place for patients on the third floor. No activities, no entertaining or music, no evening supervision, requests for bed safety ignored, meds often not distributed by the attendant, no nurses, residents are forgotten, Don't send a loved one there as my died due to sleeping pills not given due to attendant leaving early for a party. I forgot to mention that I visited my husband very day for at least two to three hours and additional time during the weekends. If your loved one has the unfortunate experience of choking when eating, even occasionally, you need to bring a throat electric vacuum to dislodge the food contents for this facility has none among other items needed on the third floor. If your loved one dies in this facility

Do not recommend.

Cogir they didn't have enough help, so they would put them in the large dining area to be able to watch them all. They said they had share rooms. When I asked for a private they said it would be [amount removed] more a month. They said she could order food from the dining room and they never brought her a menu. Last thing that happened is she fell at Cogir and they sent her to the hospital, no phone call to us and she was there 4 hours in the hall. Not sure if it was that sight or all of them.

Employees stuff this ballot with fake reviews!

This place was unquestionably a 4.5-5.0 star classy operation when it was run by Brandywine. Alas, RUI, Inc. took over a little more than a year ago and absolutely everything has abysmally deteriorated into the current [swear word removed] it is, with minimal care and accountability, inedible food, constant lying/cheating on invoices, rude and unprofessional management, and soaring prices. Stay clear of here for the sake of your loved ones. Simply abhorrent!!!

Sad place to live

I've lived here for 2.5 yrs. Only because I can't afford anything else. But you get what you pay for. They're going through the remodel, but the staff is the same. I agree with [name removed], the Assistant manager is so rude, unless you're his friend. His dogs poop everywhere in our building at night. I often see the Assist Mgr going into kitchen at night with his girlfriend, not sure why he has a key. He comes out with several bags of food, me and other residents have watched this happen several times. When it was Holiday we got treated well, Atria is exactly what I've been hearing- they're out for profit. I am trying to move out but the nice places are more expensive, so I have to live here with bad food, rude staff, the old time residents have it made and they're the ones that get asked to speak and represent the regent. The Assist manager has been walking around asking resident to write up reviews, and if they're going to be good he will set you up with a computer to write the review

We went into the facility and it was very quiet. It was midday. No seniors in the activity area. Only thing seen were word search puzzles. The doors are dirty to the rooms. A fresh coat of paint needed for sure. Trash on floor. Asked if there were gardening activities and there was a very small area to plant about rectangular sized … about 3 by 4 feet. There was water puddled from the rain gutter. Very possible slip hazard. There were cushions tossed in a corner of the property. When we did see the rooms one bed a table and tv with joined bathroom. There were no real interaction between staff and patients. Most seen were in there rooms and just not what I would want for my loved one. I would have a home for mom not sponsor this place. Pass this one by.

Check other places. Buyer be Ware

This company markets to a specific demographic. Statistically around 30% of that population is diabetic. Unfortunately, their menu is heavily weighted towards pasta and other starchy, simple carbohydrates. Due to excessive self-interest corporate policies and an Executive Director who aggressively punctuates the corporate disregard for customer service. Look at the NC Dept. of Health & Human Services. Understand that this company clings to the Independent Living designation because it frees them from almost all governmental oversight.

Business side of it tells you one thing but it's misleading. They want assets and seems that's the goal when signing on the dotted line. I was told lies to convince me to sign contract. My mom fell 3 times that I know of broke wrist and back. They didn't call me to notify me. The Dr from hospital called me and that's how I found out. Seems very understaffed considering the facility is at capacity. I'm moving my mom from Harvard Square to a different facility.

incompetent staff, lack of care, would never recommend

Staff were incompetent's. My dad came from rehab with a fully closed bed sore, 1 person or stand by assist level for transfer and improving. When he left, a month later, he was a 3 person or Hoyer lift. He not only had 1 bed sore reopened but had developed a second. He was allowed to not bathe and his wheel chair pads were destroyed and smelled horrific. He also smelled horrific and many of his unwashed items were covered in fecal matter, including himself. The new facility had to wash his hair 5 times to get it clean and had him healed up and back to self transferring within a few months. They quarantined him when he first got there due to flu outbreak at the rehab but when I called to find out why he wasn't off the quarantine yet (as I was told it would be a 5 day) on day 7, I was told he has covid and had symptoms. I later, through management, found out he did not have covid or symptoms, that the person in charge of his care was wrong and they didn't know why. He never was encouraged to use the gym, attend any of the activities or anything at all. Due to his increased needs after just one month due to their neglect, they raised his cost to over double the original quote and did not notify me.

Definitely WOULD NOT recommend

Vineyard place was a nightmare. I would never recommend it. The list is so long... it was a major disappointment...management was poor.. staff for the most part unfriendly to unkind.. during her time there the bus was broken down or they had no bus driver so no excursions.. I had to drive her to store etc..in aug they started a remodel most activities were canceled...for last 5mo the system was broken.. food was bland and unappealing.. snacks and fruits rarely available.. mother was without heat during the last freeze for 10days.. it was 4days before the maintenance man brought her a portable heater...and to add insult to injury they raised her rent almost [amount removed]!!!

Look elsewhere, do not recommend

My family member was in Cadance 3 days. On the third day he fell broke his neck and died. Cadance said they did not have cameras working and could not tell us anything about his fall. After his fall, they would not release his records to us.

Our Experience

My loved one was a resident at The Windham and the experience was not good. The administration over promised just to get him in. The caregivers were the one's who actually said that they couldn't give him the help that he needed. Not a good experience.

Do not recommend

My sister has been living there for a year now, and although the place is getting a remodel (thank you for that) the staff, Assist GM mainly, makes this place hard to live at. If he likes you, you're in, if he doesn't - he makes sure your food is cold, your needs are not met. My sis went without a lightbulb for two days because the AGM does not like her because his dog pooped right outside of her room and he refused to clean it up so they had some words. Which by the way, he never did clean up. So I drove from Durango to change out her light bulbs. And now she is constantly being mistreated. From what I hear from residents that have been here for several years, this AGM lives there and will never be fired. He "is a con artist" is what some of the old timers say. He has a lot of control and he holds it over peoples heads. The only reason why she is at the Regent is because it's cheaper, but now we see why, and it's not worth it. The remodel does no good if people feel unsafe.

Horrible customer service

I don’t know how Cogir of North Bay is in the running for best nursing home or care facility. I would never recommend a loved one to stay there. The customer service and line of communication is inadequate, mediocre at best. One would think that they would be extremely compassionate and helpful in an already stressful situation for a family. This was not the case for us when we got our loved one set up to live there. They are cold, unorganized, and have no sense of urgency in returning emails or phone calls. We are beyond disappointed in the quality of care that both our loved one and family member has received from the staff. We would not recommend Cogir of North Bay to anyone.

Our Experience

Staff was friendly, but they made promises they didn't keep. I don't completely blame them because my Mom's care level changed so quickly. But we met with the Director in person (who was really nice and helpful) and asked for 30 minute checks and they weren't doing it, even though my Mom needed it. We had a camera in there. Bottom line is, we didn't trust Cadence with my Mom's changing and dire needs (she had just moved 10 days prior), so we kept on the private duty nurses before she moved to hospice 10 days later. Moving process was fine and meals were fine. They suggested finger foods when she couldn't eat much at the end of her life, which was helpful but she wasn't thinking about feeding herself. She needed someone in there reminding her to eat, so we hired private nurses to be in there with her.

never recommend, overpromised underdelivered, lack of care

They should not be influenced by what they say they will do. We were promised our mom would be in the best hands, they assessed our mom as a level 10 care patient and charged us $[removed] for 30 days just for her care, rent was another $[removed]. They barely provided any care and some not all but some.of the care givers were not qualified to care for our mom. They left her alone in the bathroom and one gentleman not only left her but got on his phone.

Review for Holiday Carmel Place

I would not recommend it. I chose it because they stated they were an ALF that provided nursing home care. It was a horrible experience.
