Disappointed, do not recommend

We first loved the place and especially found [name removed] extremely helpful. however the lead nurse and her staff did a second review of my brother's decided interview (he was recovering from illness at a hospital in Pa.) and declined to accept him. she promised a mtg with the family to explain but never set such a mtg up, despite repeated/daily requests from family members for two weeks. then Cojir billed the family as though my brother had moved in and was a resident and didn't repond to calls from the family on that. totally unprofessional, noncommunicative. never experienced anything like it in talking with several residences. avoid at all costs-they will waste your time. shameful!

Paying a 5 star price. Getting 2 star food and service

Edmonds Landing has always had an excellent reputation. Great location. Excellent care. That's what I expected when I moved in here. I am independent, but I am told the assisted service is very good. The place is bright, clean and friendly. Employees are helpful, cheerful and caring. Where it falls apart is in the food area (the only thing I'm really interested in). The food budget seems to be minimal. Everything is on the cheap end, overcooked, and the employees are overworked and underpaid; leading to poor service and lack of caring. When I toured they said the restaurant was open all day. That is not true. Try to get something to eat other that meal hours - you are out of luck. I also was not told about the 'spy cams' (my opinion) in the ceilings that monitor your movement in case you falls. And the ongoing construction. I am paying a lot of money for all this and since they already have your "community fee" and huge rents, if you move out, it's of no concern to them.

Decline in care

It used to be a 5. Then they had a mass exodus so from about [Dates Removed] I would give it a 1. They have been steadily improving and training. I would now say it's a 2. They have hired a director and medical health and wellness person so hopefully it will get better. The billing remains a mystery. Things go up and down every month. It goes from[Amounts Removed]then once printed out they credit you but not immediately it takes a month or so. We are on a waiting list for [Name Removed] now. Cogir is a mile from my home so it was not an easy decision but the care level is not up to par

Great potential, disappointing experience

Regarding overall experience: we moved my Mother in, and then moved her out three weeks later. She had a few incidents with a resident who was "handsy" (as she put it), and she did not feel safe. When we told the staff why we were moving out, they all knew which resident she had issues with - so apparently it's been a problem that they have done nothing about. They said "there was not much they could have done" - ours was the first written complaint, so they could now talk to that resident. I'm glad that at least they now seem to be doing something about it. We requested breaking the lease with no penalty, and the return of our move-in costs...her moving out wasn't voluntary, it was an issue of safety. They did agree to break the lease without penalty, but would not return the move-in costs. As far as activities: my Mother did attend the exercise classes, but she felt they weren't as challenging as the exercise classes she had at her other place. She was also hoping to find someone to play cards with and other things, but it didn't seem like people were out and about much. Granted, she didn't stick around long enough to see if that would change.

Do you due diligence

My husband was a resident at this facility until his passing September. The staff, including care givers, med techs, receptionist and housekeepers, are compassionate and skilled. However, there is a lot of staff turnover, which alters adversely staff to patient ratio. Should you be a cash paying client, there is a definite lack with regard to their accounting procedures and, as one complainant mentioned, lots of lip service. I’ve found that receiving itemized statements, particularly after my husband passed, was nonexistent. The reimbursement check I received seems as if the amount was picked out of a hat. In addition. even though I set up and paid for an account for my husband’s use for miscellaneous expenses, the account was never set up or implemented I am at a loss to explain how that happened and they are not able to either. I have tried written requests without one response. The food is meh. I’ve eaten there enough to know. The only elevator broke down several times.

Disappointed with new management.

Diminishing atmosphere from home-like to clinical. No observed resident activities. Hair salon services have been gone for months. Personal care of my resident lacking for daily handwashing, hair combing, hearing aid placement assistance. Occasional urine smell in resident’s room. Attendants and office staff constantly changing and care staff inattentive to residents at times. Manager not available for in person discussion for months. Clothing items lost in laundry service. Dining area tables and adjacent serving kitchen/counter not kept clean consistently.

Corporate needs to respond to their managers requested needs.

. Couldn't eat the food there. Every month they pulled the wrong draw on my checking. Constantly had to monitor my checking account and correct. There was a few other residents having same problems. Understand it was corporate problem. Another problem there is not enough handicap parking up close. Many times when coming back, all spots are taken, have to bring wife with dementia to front entrance, leave her and go downhill to visitor parking. The people that work there are great. It's a corporate issue.

This is a business first.

Don't fool yourself that this is anything other than a business. The current management wants to fill the large percentage of empty rooms. The bottom line is what counts here. Of course, the business needs to flourish, however, the current management and higher management put dollars ahead of caring and compassion for the residents. Many listed activities never happen. There is a lot of staff turnover here. Recently, there have been two new managers. A beloved long-term staff member was fired this week. She would do anything and has done everything for the residents. Many residents have expressed outrage that this person was let go. The kitchen, housekeeping, and wait staff are hard-working, caring folks. Budgetary needs rule here, so the carpets need cleaning, and the lighting is so low that it's hard to read a menu. The building is at the corner of two very busy, noisy roads with lots of fire, ambulance, and police sirens, as well as weekly car racing.

Not what we were promised

They start you off at a lower monthly cost but every month they find things to charge you more and the costs keep going up. Everything costs extra, they sign you up for more care but you don't see any difference in care. The residents spend way too much time in their rooms with not much interaction with others. The recreation rooms are spread out all over the building which is very confusing to elderly people so they don't attend activities because they can't find them. The facility is understaffed and it takes a very long time for anyone to respond if called to a room for help. I would not recommend this facility.

Overall disappointing

In the beginning, it was great, but by the end it was not. Many people there were trying, but the staffing they were forced to hire was not on board with what the requirements or expectations were of their jobs. I made a quick decision to move her out on labor day weekend because it had become very toxic. I'm sure there is blame on both sides, but I am very disappointed with what has happened to Cogir. And interestingly, I believe that they've bought up at least five more properties in the Clark county area, so maybe those are working out better than Glenwood was.

Not Sure
October 14, 2025

I had difficulty even getting a tour then when I did a tour our guide was not enthusiastic in the slightest. We were shown a TINY studio that had a window looking into an alley with trash cans….not a selling point. Then our guide showed us a different studio that was about to be moved into! It was furnished with the resident’s bedding, personal belongings, pictures, all ready for their move in and felt like a huge invasion of privacy to have us walk in and look. If it was my loved one’s room and I found out strangers had been in looking around I’d be furious! For being in such an amazing location the building itself doesn’t have amazing views or even a decent rooftop. I asked questions and many of my questions went unanswered due to my guide not being sure and I was directed to reach out to other staff such as the director. I was so incredibly disappointed. For the amount it would cost I’d expect way more.

Observation of a resident

Cogir makes a big impression when first visiting. it's a building that's over 30 years old. The maintenance on the building has been ignored. Bugs and mass of cobwebs all over the exterior stucco used back in the day did not hold up to Northwest weather. Halls are smoky and dirty. Fire doors are too heavy for the people that go outside on a walker and then wanna come back in I'm a young one so always assist when that comes to those heavy doors. The landscape has been left to go to hell the ground has sunk. It's not perforated. Roots are showing on nearly every tree around that building. They ought to be ashamed. We're in a drought. Can you imagine the kind of effect that that's having on the trees? Of course it won't show up right away. It'll be down the road when they lose a bunch of trees I got a parking place and I looked up and I could see there is a tree leaning into the parking well how long is that been there and do I really wanna have my car under that specific place? Evidently a lot of these things have been known but never attended to this morning. I waited one hour to have a Denver omelette and a glass of juice and the people I was really concerned about were the elderly that were sitting around me they do not have enough employees on the floor of that dining room to serve the people and it happens day after day after day. They have a square that you push if you're handicap and then the door is open, but it's very dangerous place to negotiate. They should have Safeway doors on the exterior of the building. Right now they are putting lip stick on a pig. Paying [removed]k a month. They are not keeping care of the building not worth the expenditure each month.

Happy He's There, But Communication Could Be Better

It's a good place for him to be. Communicating with some of them on important matters has been awful and very frustrating. Hopefully things will get straightened out.

Terribly disappointed

It is very frustrating! They no longer accept independent tenants, they do not allow wine in here unless you buy it your self, and they do not leave a cart by the back door (as promised) to bring in goods-- you have to park in back, come up to the greeting desk and wait for someone (my last wait was 10 minutes!) to go in a locked door to get a cart for you. Rather than leave it downstairs for the next person, you have to bring it back to the front desk on the first floor so that she can lock it up again. I have a whole list of frustrations-- we just waited 2 weeks to get our room cleaned as the cleaners (2 of them) both quit!!!
