Greedy

I took my mother to Palm Court 7 days before the end of the month. Unfortunately she had medical problems after a week there and had to leave two days before month end. I spoke with the management hoping for some degree of grace for their 30 day notice policy, but they wouldn't bend at all, insisting on the full $6,000 payment of the next month's rent even though she would not be able to come back and her room was available for them to rent to someone else. To make matters worse they called several times while I was at the hospital with her to remind me that she had to pay. This is a greedy and unforgiving organization to deal with.

Rolls down from Corporate Business

Care Services? DO NOT depend on the managers for anything. Even a fake smile or superficial hello. This is a BIG Business, it has not one thing to do w/personalized care or concern. Corporate promises but no delivery! They ignore all complaints and prices are not the same, for all. Unless waitress staff has changed, there is one that is incredibility rude and impolite. Guess that why the !manager holds her close, he is the same. Not a warm fellow! The food is not half bad. Stingy. Let's see, there are so fabulous folks in kitchen and dining room. Appears LOTS of folks need or are Assisted Living, which isn't fair for them to live there. I see a lack of compassion, lack of connection. The problems start w/the Corp Business Folks and keeps going until pay dirt is hit. Couple of the Staff cause problems. Hasty unfriendly land lords.

Care went downhill after new ownership

We moved my grandfather (we were the POA's) into Silverado now the Bellingham at Orchard. He lived there for 18 months. When we first moved him in the care was excellent and not one complaint. The food was great, the staff was great, his room was clean, he was bathed, he was well taken care of and thriving. He loved going out in the garden area picking blueberries and apples and sitting by the old car watching birds. Fast forward to the community becoming The Bellingham at Orchard. The care went from great to POOR. Grandpa fell nearly daily, it took hours for call lights to be answered or for nurses or staff to be found just to let us out after the 5pm front office closed. The food went from great to slop. The social worker went out the door. The nursing staff went from great to high turn over or over worked and grumpy. When I made the choice for him to leave my house where he was I was providing 24/7 care I felt confident and loved the facility until it merged. He had a horrible fall and instead of calling the medics I was phoned 12 hours later saying I should make him an appt at the doctors he was taken to ER and from there transfered to hospice at a different facility. Silverado was great Bellingham at Orchard was hell and not a place I would wish on anyone. Shameful really.

meet the membership director

I went in to inquire for my mother. The cost for a studio was $[removed]. They have a "points" menu. It seems elusive and secretive. I inquired what it would cost for three showers a week for my mom and setting up her meds once a week. I was told it would be roughly $[removed] a month total. Obviously, $[removed] a month for those minimal extras seemed high. That said, I asked if we could bring in private people (We have great people who do it for much cheaper)? The membership director was very condescending to me and said "why would you want to?" If an organization has a membership director who is curt and rude, it clearly raises red flags to me as to whose best interests are at heart. I said "wow" and excused myself. I know I seek the best care for my mom. I can only say that this is not a place I would ever take her....... "profit above concern for the elderly" is how I would categorize my limited exposure to this place.

Memory Care
October 24, 2015
Don't bring your loved ones here.

We had to put my Father in Glenwood Place Senior Living memory care. For the first almost year we were constantly at battle with them to keep him clean and his bed was wet many many times when visiting him. We finally got that taken care of, but there was constantly problems. They didn't see the need to wash his face, comb his hair, put his glass's on, brush his teeth or put his suspenders on him so his pants wouldn't fall down. He was often not even shaved. We got through this by trying to work with them, but it never failed, he was never really ready for his doctor visits or outings like we had requested...and this place charged him over $7,000 a month, you would think they could at least comb his hair for him. The final straw came when he passed away and they sent his grieving wife a bill for over $500 bucks because she took two days to remove his personal items from the home. We were grieving and it was also a holiday weekend. [removed] Stay away from here...at all cost, your loved one will thank you for it.

Corporate Profits First, Not the Resident's care

Profits ahead of Residents. ALWAYS Staff not trained on dealing with dementia residents. Some are so dismissive with the resident when they ask for help. But who is training the staff and giving them feedback? The nursing staff seems so demoralized. The nursing aides say it is all about the census & their hours are cut, And Management does not recognize residents are so high care they cannot keep up! Nurses need help too. My mother is suppose to be changed every 2 hours for incontinence but it is more like every 4 to 5 hours... Where is the dignity? How you treat the resident is how you treat your staff!

Half good, half terrible.

Mom was fine in the retirement apartment, but when we had to move her to the assisted living quarters, the price shot up and the care was terrible. Every time we dropped in, which was sometimes daily, something was either not done or done wrong. The straw finally broke the afternoon we dropped in and she was still in bed, hungry and confused. They had forgotten her completely! If you're looking for assisted care, keep on looking.

Not skilled enough.

My father was sent to this facility after a post op Hip replacement. At my visit I reliaze that another family was very upset with the staff there and it happens to be the director of nursing and the charge nurse. Her concerned was something that caught my attention which is, the building lack good services and not enough skilled staff and they are on stop payment from Medicare. They have lost lots of their good staff. I will recommend anyone to go to this place. Bad for patient care and productivity. They need to change the management and bring in people who understand the basic fundermental of nursing and not what they have now.

CHANGE THE DIRECTOR OF NURSE NOW.

THE SKILLED FACILITY IS NOT THE PROBLEM. MY MOM WAS WELL TAKING CARE OFF BY ONE OF THE EVENING NURSES. VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT HIS PATIENTS AND HONEST. THE PROBLEM IS THE DIRECTOR OF NURSE AND HER MANAGERS THAT SHE BROUGHT WITH HER. THEY ARE NOT DOING THEIR JOBS. BECAUSE OF HER, GOOD NURSES AND NURSES AID HAVE LEFT THE FACILITY. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE THEIR UNTIL SHE IS GONE FOR GOOD. [removed]. I WISH THEY CAN SEE WHAT SHE HAS DONE AND LET HER GO. THEY HAVE LOST ALL MOST ALL THEIR NURING STAFF BECAUSE OF HER. NOW THEY AGENCY. THAT SHOWS HOW BAD THINGS ARE.

Not suitable to seniors needing daily assistance

We found this facility unable to care for our parents who suffer from dementia. Their hygiene was always an issue, odor of room, cleanliness of room and condition of bed were a constant problem. We would not recommend this facility to any family that is looking for assistance for their loved ones. If you just need board and room and are independent in your care than you would be fine.

Don’t judge a book by its cover definitely applies here!

Don’t judge a book by its cover definitely applies here, a beautiful cover with an ugly story. Food is poor quality institutional grade with too often high salt content and too often undercooked (most fish and meat imported from S. America and China). Dining room service is poor due to understaffing. Executive Chef [removed], revered in other reviews (video) recently quit, that didn’t take long, he was a nice guy, tried hard and left disillusioned. Since S.L.C. took over as management approximately 2 years ago and changed the name from Arte' to Andara there's been a steep decline in the food quality/food service as well as the atmosphere and friendliness of this community. Employee turnover is the worst I've ever seen as employees are under paid and unappreciated. Many good employees in all depts. quit after S.L.C. took over, most walked out. For employee opinions search: Senior Lifestyle Corporation complaints. Attitude of on-site management and Management Company is ridiculously poor and even adversarial. On-site management is insulting and heartless towards residents especially when they complain. Resident complaints are ignored, there are many and they are legitimate. Resist believing the hype and misrepresentations; First misrepresentation; this is not a “Family-Owned Community”; it is corporate owned and not owned by the Management Company. Snowbirds, you will most likely be disappointed, ears are ringing from hearing the complaints. Always beware of planted positive reviews to boost ratings on all review sites. We, the elderly have paid our dues, made our sacrifices and deserve better than this.

Corporate is awful. The company is all about the money and gives no mind to the employees who are the people that actually keep this company running.Over worked underpaid employees, less staffing hours less care for residents.Disgusting and corporate should be ashamed!

Skilled Nursing Review - Family/Friend

Weekend Nursing has not been trained!

Very poor on all care coordination! Every skilled nursing resident is to get 2 showers a week. My Mom was to get a shower & have a medicated shampoo (prescribed by her physician) applied and her hair shampooed. The shower aide from an agency did not show up so there was no one to give the showers to the poor residents on the weekend. I asked the charge nurse why she did not call the agency to send some else. She or the Meds Nurse did not even realize the shower aide had not showed up! Is this the family caregiver's job to train their weekend Staff? Management needs to be more involved!

Atrium Village is Terrible

My mother lived at Atrium for years. I wouldn't recommend Atrium Village for the care of your enemy, let alone your loved one. I understand these places are in business to make a profit, but this is obscene. They place money above the welfare of their residents, without exception. Don't put your loved one in here. Find someplace better.

Horrible Facility

I walked into my loved one's room to find my loved one covered in dried urine and feces. When I told the Resident Director, she said the care team must have skipped my loved one's room for some reason. Another time, I walked into my loved one's room to find my loved one in so much pain. When I told the Resident Director, she said they were running about an hour behind on the medication being dispersed and there was nothing she could do.

DO NOT GO HERE

My relative went here for rehab after hospitalization. She was underweight, weak and suffering from urinary retention. The nursing staff only handed out medications, with no proactive assessment or patient interaction. There was no evidence that a doctor ever visited my relative. The technical staff was friendly and helpful. The hearing aid was lost and not reimbursed (Washington House claimed it was not on the inventory), the social worker was not family friendly, communicated poorly and infrequently. After one week of PT the staff claimed my relative had "peaked" and would not improve, yet they continued to hold her for 3 more weeks until I insisted on a voluntary discharge. One day after discharge my relative ended up back in the emergency room for urinary retention, a condition never identified by the Washington House medical and nursing staff even though this was what had landed her in the hospital to begin with. Additionally, staff never communicated with the local GP as per requirements. All in all, a very unprofessional staff dedicated to maximizing medicare billing as opposed to resident care.
