The biggest problem for me is that I am wheelchair bound and they do not have a bus that has a lift. I have a car, but I would like to be able to ride the bus. I may not have a license that much longer, so I would just be stuck without the use of my car. I have spoken to corporate over and over, but they will not rectify the situation. I am going to move. I am currently looking for another place. The staff is great. Corporate is the problem.

They don't seem to have enough activities. They don't really reach out and show him how to get involved. It just seems like he is there. The activities also seem to be more geared towards the ladies. The food is okay, he isn't all that thrilled, there is plenty of it. The staff has been wonderful and the place is clean. They were one of the more reasonably priced places.

One improvement could be that they clean out the residents room better. I think they need to take more time in doing that, like they are suppose too. I think that their food is really good. The location is nice as well.

Number one, and I don't know why this occurs, but they had very, very frequent changes of managers, so that made it so there wasn't quite the consistency in care and programming and so forth. Another thing would be that the in-home care was not quality and not consistent either. What came across to me was that there was not training for people of all different conditions. If there was anything relating to even mild dementia they weren't consistent in dealing with it. It wasn't a horrible place, but it was not a place I would put my father back in.

Very friendly staff but a overall lack of communication from them after my Mom moved in. Evaluation done by staff was requested twice and still has not been received. Incorrect medications delivered to my Mom on Memorial Day (which she took). Laundry service has taken from 3 to 6 days to be returned. A multitude of paperwork was given but my Mom has mild dementia so does not remember most of it. Staff was asked to add Mom's name for hair services, but did not follow through on two different occasions. I believe intent to communicate is in place, but there is no check/balance to insure that essential communication is received.

My aunt lives there. Basically, Everything is pretty good. Except the food. They never give her enough food. The food she does get is awful. We talked to the manager but it's just ongoing. It doesn't change. The facility itself is wonderful. It's very clean and quiet. If they could just get the food part figured out it would be more 4's and 5's. My overall rating of this property is 3 stars. It's a great place, they just need to improved on the food.

I would like any of the food to be organic with a much higher level of nutrition. The facility is clean. The staff and residents are nice. There is a lot of activities that they offer.

I think there is a lot of disorganization at Atrium Village. They do not return phone calls in a timely manner (if at all) and some things are just left hanging and not completed. It is a very nice clean facility with very friendly staff, but the organization of the business needs some attention from management.

Upscale luxury community. Mom felt it lacked a sense of home. not what she was looking for.

I like to be around people. So, I've made myself at home here at E P. I feel it is too expensive for what I'm getting, though. I left a beautiful house a block and a half from the ocean which is in great shape to come and spend nearly $4000 a month on a house that is covered with last year's bug parts. The house has a constant line of ants in the kitchen. I've NEVER had ants in my house before !!! The windows are really smeared and dirty on the outside. The toilets run constantly, even though I've repeated for four months that they need repairing. They are wasting money !!! I do need to be here in Durham, because of my poor health. But there may be a facility in the area that can offer me a better value. I don't need health workers. I am independent. But there are MANY people who reside here who are either in the beginning stages of Alzeimer's or dementia. They are not functional independent seniors. So, if you walked in for a visit, you may think that this institution is catering to those with severe aging mental disorders. Back to my specific problems. I need some repair work here. I'm tired of being ignored. I want the ants out ! I didn't bring them !!! And I saw them the very first day I was here. I try to be patient and polite, BUT my patience is wearing thin. By the way, I live in a cottage. The other night I got very sick. I had to clean up the floor by myself after an 'accident.' I'm in a wheel chair most of the time and have severe left shoulder problems. I had NO ONE to help me with this job. What should I have done? Well, it took me a long time, but I finally got most of it cleaned up. It could NOT wait until the next day. The managers need to advise residents about what they should do when similar situations arise. Thanks for reading my review.

Older building. Many people elevators seemed confusing. It looks like they do a excellent job with clients. Very high one time fee.

I think the whole atmosphere is great. They took time to show you everything and they were kind enough to sit down and show you all they offered. Everyone was so nice and friendly.

Decor is a bit dated; perhaps older people are more comfortable with it. My mother has been very reclusive. It is independent living, so she doesn't get all of that much care. They have reached out to her. What she gets is pretty much brought in by home care agencies. My mother chose the location. For her budget it's probably perfect. She would like to be able to cook her own food; she is only given a fridge and microwave. She would have preferred something more independent. The food is not good. That is probably one of the biggest challenges. There is only one elevator, causing bottlenecks getting to meals and so forth. The location is fine, for her, it's further for a little more challenging. She is in a wheelchair, and their bus is not wheelchair friendly. It might make it easier for her to get out if they did provide a bus trip. Friends and family are taking her everywhere.

Disappointed in facility. Place is only 7 years old but the wear and tear was apparent. People allowed to smoke in their rooms. Rooms seemed dated.

So far I think it's very nice. I'm not sure about the activities, she's not quite settled in yet. She was very excited that they had a pool. The food is pretty good. The one thing is the amount of lighting in her particular apartment, the maintenance guy said he would try to change that, it's been about a month and that hasn't happened yet. It's very dim in there, there aren't a lot of lights on the ceilings, and there is only one switch that will turn the lamps on. The other thing I noticed was that they were going to replace the carpeting before she moved in and they didn't, they cleaned it, but you can see the stain they didn't replace it. The pool was a big factor of why she picked this, also when you walked in the door we saw a lot of people being active. They have covered parking, and everyone is really nice, and I like how the dining is open pretty much all day, and there is a lot variety, and choice. If she is in her room and wants to make a sandwich, and can go down and get a little cup of mayonnaise. There is a full size fridge and stove as well, a lot of places only had a mini.

Liked the building's open space/park setting with walk-out trails and big sun deck. Fourth floor independent living one-bedroom with study available - liked the extra study option. Have to move downstairs to go to assisted living and base price for assisted includes extra $1,000 for two people (Dad would have to take basic assistance plan, too, to live on the floor, even if he's not using it). Only 30 days notice if you want to move out. Good food, nice staff. Some of the appointments in common areas seemed somewhat dirty and worn. Good sized library.

At first glance, it's a very nice facility. But with the recent change of owners, it seems to be going downhill. When calling for assistance with dressing/toileting, etc. there can be a very long wait with no explanation that there will be a wait (because of an emergency, etc.), leaving the resident to feel forgotten. The food is acceptable, if you don't mind highly processed foods with a lot of pre-frozen choices. There are plenty of choices and they do have a daily fresh salad/fruit bar. If you are concerned about the quality of the food (not fried, processed, preservatives, etc.) this might not be the place for you. Since the change in owners the aides seem to be in charge of everything, including meds management. Pets are welcomed for an additional fee and there are plenty of activities. There is no place for a community garden, nor is there a pool or wood/crafts shop for those who are so inclined. Neither is there an exercise room, although there are regular exercise classes, some of which are self-led with video, resident volunteer-led, or professional fitness instructor-led. The latter has been rare in the past several years.

Location was the best, but we didn't get the feeling of total comfort that we needed. Although in Memory Care, it seemed most residents were not at the stage of dementia our dad is now in. I was not convinced they could handle him.

They dodn't know we were coming despite Molly's confirming emails, but the on-site manager did a good job of pinch-hitting. Clean, nice.
