We've been very happy with this community

My Mother really likes living here. However, the maintenance people don’t get to things very quickly. She likes the food, though, and has said that it’s excellent. The dining room is open from 7am to 7pm and if they get hungry during the day, in between meal times, then they can go in and eat from the soup and salad bar. They also have a bistro area where you can get ice cream floats and gather to visit. My Mom gets good care and she likes the people that work there. She also really likes her room; it’s a one bedroom and is a bit smaller but it’s comfortable. It opens up into a patio with a view of the courtyard. The cleanliness is okay. The building is a little bit older but it feels like home and it has beautiful woodwork. The carpet is kept clean and housekeeping does the laundry for free. The whole place feels more personal than a standard nursing home. I recommend bringing your loved one here.

I met with [Removed] who I had met with over the summer so I already had some info. and had toured the independent living. It touched my heart to see some of the residents in a group chair exercise class with music. I loved everything about the facility - many scheduled activities and services. My dad and I are in! My mom, unfortunately, will not leave her house no matter what I do or say. I am planning to bring my parents in next week for dinner and bingo. We'll see how it goes.

Very Nice Community

I rented a cottage here for a few months, and I thought it was very nice. The cottages were nice, bright, and spacious with full kitchens. The staff was always very helpful, and the other people there were very nice. They also have so many activities. While I was there, I was never lonely or bored. The only reason I've decide to leave is because I have two dogs, but no yard for them. It just is not a good fit in that regard.

Very nice

During the time that my parents were here everything was fine. I would have liked for them to stay there, but just because of their personal preference they decided to leave the facility. I found that the apartment that they had was lovely as were the grounds. They had a lovely view of the pool and water fountain. The staff all seemed to be really nice as well

Mom is happy here

My mom is having such a good time with all of the daily activities. It's a nice surprise for her even! She goes to the exercise class. She is loving being social. The food could use improvement it isn't that great. She says it isn't hot when it get to her. There are a variety of choices. She loves that she can get coffee and snacks throughout the day if she wants. The grounds are well kept up and has a nice patio. I would recommend this community.

Attractive facility but feels instatutionalized

I toured this facility when we were looking for a facility for my dad and unfortunately decided against this place because it just felt too big. I don’t have anything negative to say about this community besides it was really big and it felt more institutionalized. However, the facility itself is very attractive and looks nice. There are a lot of activities and they have a calendar full of things to do. The staff members were really friendly and answered all of the questions I had pretty well. The person who gave me the tour was really informative. From what I say, I would recommend this facility.

Very Nice Community

I toured Harvard Square and I really liked it. I thought the community was nice, and the people were sweet. However, I just did not feel that it had the comfortable and homey feel I was looking for. It felt more on the high-end side, which I felt wouldn't be a great fit for my loved one.

So far, so good.

I moved my husband in yesterday and so far everything is fine. The helpers were attentive and I think they will work for him. They were kind and efficient. The office staff has been helpful. Lots of paperwork which is probably normal. Usually had to wait to see them. Have not been here long enough to really rate the care and activities properly.

I love the setting, the access to public transportation, the park and neighborhood. It is an old facility. The probation is not a problem to me as an independent. I believe the renovations promised will make it an outstanding facility. The current price can’t be beat.

A few drawbacks

I found that this place had a noticeable drawback. This location is mainly apartments with elderly people living here. If there were a fire it would take them a slow time for them to exit safely. They have stairs, however, it didn’t seem completely accommodating. Another thing why it didn’t seem like a great fit for my loved one is that they give out tickets for participation. If you were to participate in an activity they would give you a ticket, when you gain a certain amount you could redeem them for something. I found this quite childish. However, I was speaking to the residents that were already living there and they seem to like it a lot. But it didn’t seem like anything my loved one would go for.

Beautiful and elegant facility

This facility was beyond elegant. When we pulled up I felt like I was going to a huge southern mansion with a roundabout drive. The facility itself is on a beautiful 5 acre plot of land. It’s just so beautiful, elegant, and above average from every other place we toured. Unfortunately, when we showed up to do the tour, they didn’t have the available staff to show us around so they had some of the residents show us around the facility. The only reason why I decided against this community is that I would have been too far from my family. I would recommend this place.

Great care - Not so great finance director

My father was at Harvard Square Memory Care Facility for exactly a month. We loved the staff and he loved the staff. They were very caring and always worked with us on any concerns. I would give them a five except for the fact that their administrative office refuses to deal with us on the refund of our finances. It has now been three months since my father passed and they still will not even return my calls regarding the refund. The bookkeeper there has "stepped out of her office" every - and I mean every time I have called. This has been a truly frustrating end to what was terrific care that my father received.

Lots of activities like car shows and Wii bowling

I’m really glad my Father was able to pick this facility as a place to live. When he and I first toured this place, they actually had a car show going on. The cars were from the 60s, or even older than that, and there was popcorn, BBQ, and hotdogs. They also have a bunch of other activities like trips to certain places, poker, card games, and they even play Wii bowling. The community is actually being renovated at this time. The only thing I am disappointed in is that they have yet to paint the baseboards and replace the rug in the main area. I’m so glad my dad is happy here and I would recommend this facility.

While searching for a place for my loved one, this community seemed the most accommodating. My loved ones are pleased with the area, they have adjusted well moving here, and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. The food there is really good, they have about two to three options each day on the menu then that menu changes weekly. It’s not institutional and it is nice that they are getting a bit of variety with their meals. The housekeeping team comes in twice a week to take care of my loved ones apartment and there is a regular scheduled maid service. The facility is great and the grounds itself is nice. My loved ones have a wonderful view from their window on the first floor. I also noticed that they post a calendar flyer with schedules of events and activities that they would offer. Also they have a shuttle service that would take tenants to their doctor’s appointments. All in all this is a great community and my loved ones have assimilated well and are very comfortable.

A lot of vacancies at the time I toured

I toured here when trying to find the right place for my loved one and it was pretty good. They had some vacancies but their price was a bit higher than I would’ve liked. They charge you for the room and then everything else is extra, like medicine, laundry, and any additional help. The lady that gave me a tour knew a lot of the residents and would say hi to them. I got a tour of a lot of the vacated rooms and from what I could see, the rooms were pretty filthy but the rest of the facility was nice.

Down to earth and homey feel

My brother really likes it here and he seems much happier. The staff members are not only efficient but they are friendly. My brother considers them more of friends than care givers. He picked this community and he likes that it’s more of a basic, homey, down to earth feel. His room is on the ground floor and he has a sliding patio door that looks into the forest. The community has recently renovated their building and everything is well maintained. They replaced the dining room furniture, put in new carpet, new linoleum, and painted. Everything looks brand new now. My brother is really comfortable here. I would highly recommend this community.

Beautiful Location

This place has been recommended by several people who also have their loved ones here and they all have said good things. The place is very beautiful located in the middle of the woods and near a bay. It is a bit hard to find though. But once you find it, its just a beautiful location. My husband and I always refer to it as a resort instead of an assisted living home because its very clean, they have new carpet, and the place just has that type of feel. The staff is so happy and helpful and they are right there to take care of any of the needs one may have. My mother has trouble getting from one place to another so I am happy that someone could help her right away. They also have optional activities for the residents to participate in. There things like games, puzzles, they have people that come in to sing for them, exercise programs, and there's idol coffee chatter. They have a wonderful menu and side orders if you don't want to eat what's on the main menu. They have a professional chef that has been there for 15 years so he is very good at what he does. They also have complimentary transportation that would take a group to tours, movies, or other outings. They can also take people to their doctors appointments. My mother is getting her money's worth for the amount of care that she needs. Like anywhere else, depending on the amount of care one needs, the price would increase to a certain amount. All in all I love this location.

Harvard Square

I toured Harvard Square while looking at living options for my parents. I liked the community. I know the people who do the church services there, so I have knowledge of this community. I felt that the rooms were very nice, and I liked that security level of the building. Someone is always at the front door. However, I went with my instinct and chose one of the other communities I toured.

It feels like home

I chose this community because I have an Aunt who lives here I have had previous knowledge and really like the community. Also, the homes around the facility are 55+ so there are no children running around and it’s not a busy area. It feels like the country but it’s close to the city and has all of the amenities. The staff is very kind here; when you’re walking down the hall staff will actually come up to you and talk with you. They even ask you if anything is wrong or if you have any complaints. If there is anything wrong, they fix the issue right away and they’re very appreciative in helping. Instead of just talking with the front desk staff, they have management come to your room and speak with you. The staff is very compassionate and friendly. When I was moving my Father in, [Removed]the bookkeeper told me I could eat with him and he wouldn’t be charged for it. They also told me if we needed help hanging the pictures they would send in a work order and the facility maintenance would be up to his apartment the next morning. I really loved that because it was less of a hassle for me, I didn’t have to get a hammer and nails and drag them up to his room. The other thing I really like is he has a button for the staff. If he needs help with anything or even if he falls he just has to click the button and the staff is there for him. He feels so much more secure being here than being in his big home. He can still have this independent private lifestyle but also know that there is someone always around for him. My Father also has a key to the doors so if he comes back after hours, he can still get back in. When he leaves all he has to do is leave his name, room number, and the time. They just want to know who is in the facility in case there is an emergency. The rooms are unfurnished but I think it’s a good thing because I can make it feel more like home for him. He can bring in his favorite chair and bring in his art. There is someone who comes in once a week named [Removed] who sweeps the floor and gets everything picked up. Every Wednesday you can put your laundry in the hall and it will be returned later that afternoon. There’s a kitchen with a 2 burner stove and full sized refrigerator but does not include an oven or microwave. There’s plenty of kitchen storage, bedroom storage, and even has a balcony. As for the facility, it is very clean and when you walk in it feels like home. There’s not dust lingering around and no messes on the floor. There’s a beautiful courtyard with a huge veranda on one side and big beautiful trees along the walking path. As for the food my Father thinks that sometimes the portions are a little on the smaller side but he can always ask for a second portion. The dining room is open from 7 AM to 7 PM. They serve 3 meals a day and offer plenty of substitutions if you do not like what they are offering. At any point during the day, they have snacks available like fruit, baked goods, coffee, tea, and water. For activities that have a bunch of things like pool tables, bingo, card games, puzzles, music and wine, big Sunday brunches, and dance nights. There is a bus that can take you to doctor appointments, Walmart, the mall, or the bank. Also, once a month they will take you to the casino or a restaurant. I would highly recommend this facility.
