My Family's Experience

Mom's room was filthy!!! Her bathing/hygiene schedule was up & down at best. It was a friendly environment & she enjoyed the activities. Her med tech [name removed] was my favorite. The management was in disarray!! Constant employee changes!! At this time I would NOT recommend it until corporate steps in & fixes these glaring issues

Disappointing

The facility is not up to operating staff. Both numbers and training. The food service is horrible. There is a lot of turnover and long wait times for food. Not to mention the selection of food options is not good at all!! At this point, I would not recommend Harvest of Aledo. If and when they get things corrected, then I might have a change of opinion.

Not a bad experience but not great

A good facility but lack of staff in memory care. Short staff caused staff to work doubles & effective & efficient care was not always provided. Also pay by monthly check not direct draft as my father passed away on the [date removed] of the prior month & on the [date removed] of the next month they automatically drafted a payment & took almost 60 days to return the payment.

Not a great experience

My loved one is no longer at this community, and was having a hard time adjusting. The facility was nice. I picked this community because, It was very clean, nice and they said that they had activities. It was okay the first few days, and my loved one was very unhappy. The aides were nice and kept my loved ones room clean. I would not recommend to other families. The director never returned any of my phone calls.

The place other then my parents room was clean. The room was not kept clean. The staff was friendly but a few of them didn't always tell me the truth. My parents went without some of their medications for several days. This happened numerous times. I was visiting one time when they attempted to give my dad my moms medication. My mom was given some other clients Imodium when mom was complaining of nausea. She had chronic constipation so this was wrong on numerous levels. A week of their Laundry was lost, never to be found. I took over doing their laundry after that. The meals were very good in the first few months then that too seemed to decline also. They would run out of things and the quality wasn't the same. My parents did not participate in the activities so I can not give a rating. Mom passed in June and I brought my dad to live with me. This was our second facility and pray I don't have to put my dad in another place. Very dissatisfied. After mom died I gave the 30 day notice the next day. I assumed I would have that time to remove all of their things. Within two weeks they wanted to get someone else in there. They asked if they could move the remaining things that I hadn't gotten to yet. I was told we would get a refund which we never received.

Beware-The Avenues of Fort Bend

My loved ones room was not too clean but the community seemed to be clean. Some of the nursing staff were not nic. The food was sometimes too spicy. My loved one enjoyed some of the activities, such as music and games. It was very expensive and I feel I did not receive the level of care that was expected. It was a beautiful faclity. The staff can be very nice. Be sure to, keep a close eye on the staff, and your loved one as well. My loved ones clothes, sometimes were not returned after being washed, for almost a week, and clothes were missing. In addition, my loved one did not always receive medication.

Frustrated

I would tell others to stay away. I love the facility and the layout, but they cannot hold staff and are always understaffed. The ones who are there are overworked. One staff member worked six days last week, three of which were double shifts, and she is just exhausted. Several of the staff have been very friendly, but not the people in the office. They're on their third chef now. The first one started out pretty good. The second one was very mediocre. And the new chef starts today, so we'll see how that goes. Activities were a little better around Christmas time, but I think they lost their activities director shortly thereafter, and there have been zero activities since - which is especially disappointing in memory care. They're also on their third director since July.

Our family had an in person tour and the facility is brand new which was great, but we could hardly see anything going on. We saw no activities, or no activity schedule. We were not told us anything they do for the residents outside of the community like day trips. The people giving us the tour was nice but newer so they had no idea how to answer our questions. It just seemed very unorganized and unprepared.

Could be very nice, but....

My loved one was in The Cottage (memory care). While the majority of the staff was good, [name removed] who provided activities was awesome! However, the upper admin/management do not know how to run the facility. They need to train the staff on how to take care of residents with dementia. They need to make sure all the cameras are in working order. They do not make it easy on the family members. There should be a no cell phone policy while working. I got tired of seeing staff on facebook. Glad we found a much better place that has experience with dementia and work with the residents, instead of against. Also, they talk about chef prepared meals. There were many "chefs" that quit while our loved one was there. Not to mention eating on styrofoam. We understand with COVID, but this was ongoing. Getting things in order start with the management. It shouldn't be that difficult. People are in positions that know nothing about memory care or how to handle staff.

Ladies in the office are always "in a meeting"

The independent living cottages are fair. The layout is convenient for seniors, but you are getting the basics. No granite counter tops, the VERY cheapest appliances etc... for what you pay. The REAL problem is the management in the office. My mom lived there for 4 year and had no less then 30 different schedules for house cleaning. (sometimes it would change twice in one week). The last months my mom lived there she asked for an early morning cleaning time as she had been there 4 years and I get off work at noon to help run errands. The ladies in the office claims cleaning can only be done in numerical order of the cottage. GIVE ME A BREAK! The people who lived next door had only been there a month! The day my mom died and the paramedics/police were there she walked down to her cottage and said to me: You mom was so angry! Never in my life has I've ever seen such little compassion and rudeness. Even the paramedics commented on how rude she was.

Buyer Beware at Memory Care

They are a lovely facility with great caregivers. However, BEWARE, If your loved one is an Alzheimer's resident, they will not necessarily keep them until "end of life" as they assured us they would do. Their website claims to "provide specialized care for ALL stages of dementia" and accommodate "two person transfer", yet as soon as my 100lb mother could not support her own body weight, and it took two caregivers to move her, they wanted me to move her out. We were told when we signed our contract, that we would never have to move our mother and that she could die there. They spent the last two months of my mothers life and time there, coming up with every kind of excuse to not keep her. It seems, based on everything I know and researched, they didn't want to hire or train additional staff to deal with someone who requires the extra care. Anyone who has a parent with Alzheimer's, should not use a Civitas facility and search elsewhere.

Poor management, bad food, amenities not as promised.

I would not recommend this facility. Poor meds management. High staff turn over. General management not involved and in touch with residents' needs. No transportation or real outings. Food is poor and out of things often. We are moving out! Corporate very difficult to get in touch with.

It is a crap shoot

I would tell others that they do not have it together at all here. They assessed my mother and took her after evaluating her, when it was time for her to come after rehab they said that they were not able to take her and that she should have never been able to go there. It was not a good experience.

The Hamptons Assisted Living Seem to have Incompentent Care Management

My loved one moved from the independent living area to the assisted living area. I moved my loved one out of the community in roughly 3 weeks after the transition. There were a couple of reasons that made me make this decision. The first one being that I used the buzzer to try and get the attention of the staff, and no one responded. The manager stated that they had pull all the buzzers due to a meeting with the care staff. This upset me so much. The clothes were lost every week, and I had to search them each week. I feel the care manager was be running over.by the staff, as she seemed to be inexperienced. The Hamptons didn't seem to have a lot of activities. The Director of the community seemed to be new and looked like a deer in the headlights when I approached her about concerns.

Decline in services and surroundings.

Dining room continues to be a source of disruption. Lack of serving staff. Diabetic woman was not served timely and caused her blood sugar to crash. Working on fourth chef. Due to dispute in salary, new chef simply did not show up on first day. Civitas has now raised prices on meals. Dead trees and shrubs abound on the campus. Depressing.

Low value for the money

Expensive for what you get. They had a chef when my mom signed up, then he was gone in two weeks, we hear due to low pay. Food has gone downhill. Management all left due to overwork and low pay. Very understaffed now. They were way too slow and it required way too much demanding to fix serious construction problems, flooding, sewer overflows, showers that leaked on the floor. We've ALL communicated extensively with corporate to no avail. They talk a lot and not enough action. Corporate greed, trying to cheap out on the expenses and wages, and still LOOK like a high-end place. A whole group is planning to move out.

High rent, mediocre food, corporate is not listening

We moved my mom in there when they had a chef that made delicious nutritious food, but he soon left (word is underpaid), then they replaced him with mediocre cooks they're insisting on calling chefs, and the food went downhill. The management all left en masse due to overwork and underpay, and the remaining staff is super sparse, and still underpaid but really caring. They won't last is they find other jobs. Legacy didn't quickly enough fix some serious construction deficiencies, and toilets overflowed, apartments and common areas flooded in the rain, and showers ran onto the floors. We've all communicated with corporate till we're blue in the face, but we've mostly gotten lots of excuses and too little action. It' seems they're trying to run it on the cheap and still be seen as high end luxury, as the building does look high end. The only ones not complaining are memory care, and they can't complain! Corporate greed at its finest. Residents are getting fed up and threatening to move out, but geez it's expensive to move! We're giving them another month to get it together. We'll see.

My father is a pending resident on the wait list & has completed his new resident package so we are close to getting him moved in. When he calls to get an update he is told I’ll have [name removed] call you back & that does not happen 90% of the time, he even asked to speak to the director which he was transferred too & she told him she would look into the situation & call him back within an hour.....no call. Do you all realize how bad this is for your public relations? What is the care level I should expect for my father if you cannot simply return his calls? We are very excited for this next chapter in my Dad’s life but I’m concerned.
