There is some good and some bad about the community. The other residents are friendly, and the community is clean. The food is excellent quality, and the portions are diminishing due to the rising cost of food. Housekeeping is excellent. There was a flood in the community and they haven't address my concerns over my belongings that were destroyed. The meals are based off a point system. There are some questions that go unanswered, and other questions are answered promptly by the staff.

It's ok for what your paying for. This is pretty much your only option here.

This is supposed to be the best in the area but I would recommend to not loose contact with your loved one moving here. You are the only one that can keep them safe. The people that worked with my loved one directly were very nice to her. The people that lead everything flopped the ball on many things including medications and the way that my loved one was cared for.

They have had some staffing shortages so some things have happened that I am not very pleased about. My loved one slept in a chair for a couple of weeks because his bed did not work and they did not call to tell me that. I think they need to improve on their communication skills to families. They have assured me they will rectify these issues and we are trying to work things out.

This is a brand new place and has been open less than a year. My loved one is in the assisted living side of the building. They have very good meals, and a wide variety of activities for the residents to participate in. The staff is friendly and caring. Things have been changing with some staff for example the chef, and the variety of the food could be improved. It would be nice to see more options of sugar free drinks and juices.

When we agreed to put my loved one here we were promised a lot of things and led to believe some things that were not true. Once we moved him in here, they did not carry through on some of their promises that were originally made. The experience has not been what we had hoped for.

We chose Ariel Pointe at the time because it was closest to family members. They could use improvement on the food, the quality is not very good and service is not up to standards especially for what we pay. The staff are very friendly and the facility itself is decorated very nicely.

I just expected more

Newer facility, good activities (bible study, bingo, crafts, music, etc. 49 residences - available end of June; clean, activities, courtyard.. need to provide TV, phone. if you want one. Everyone seemed busy - not as personable, but friendly

Overall I liked Double Creek. I thought it was a pretty facility. And I liked the person who gave the tour. I was disappointed in what the room looked like though. It had no storage in the bathroom, and the room itself was just like a box. At the place where we ended up, the room has a little more definition/shape to it where you almost feel like you have a separate bedroom. And there's a built-in cabinet, as well as some storage in the bathroom.

I would tell others The amount of money I pay isn't the best care they could provide. I don't feel the community communicates as well as they should.

When we first signed up with them they promised us that they would never increase her rates, within 8 months they have tried to raise the rates twice. The rooms are minimum, and we would not recommend this community to others because they lie. We have not been able to see our loved one lately, but our issue we have is we know she is wearing nasty clothes and not the nice clothes she has. We wish that we were physically able to take her out ourselves

I would want others to know that with COVID we have not been allowed in the facility. They go around on regular checks but have not been responding to her call button which is alarming because she is 96 we are not allowed in. I think that the requirements are too stringent on family members, I think we should be allowed in the room with proper precautions taken.

I chose Valley View because of the location and the price. Also the fact that it was very bi-lingual and we thought that was important. The room sizes here were adequate for his needs. My husband lost a lot of weight while he was here so I am not sure what was going on with the food. Some of the staff was exceptional and some were just doing their job, but generally they were very kind to him.

[name removed] was amazing to work with my loved one. She sends me texts and pictures of my loved one. This is her own doing. The management staff hasn't communicated with me about my loved one's care. The community is close by to my location, it is clean and that is important to me. I feel like I get different answers from management and they don't follow up with my calls. They state that the community has to get approval from an individual for everything, and that individual isn't there when you need to speak to them. I don't feel like it is worth me moving my loved one, due to the complications surrounding a move. My loved one broke their arm. The management never called me about this incident. The only reason I found out about this, is because [name removed] sent me pictures, I had to ask what was on my loved one's arm.

Having parents that experienced both the assisted living and memory care in this facility I feel knowledgeable about both. The director of the memory care unit is amazing! She plans appropriate activities and keeps the patients engaged. Although the administration will say the staff is trained to work with dementia patients they have no special training. Some staff members are excellent some are not. Administrative staff will say response time is less than 10 minutes but that was not our experience. Communication between staff members could be improved. At times conflicting messages were frustrating to family members. Administrative staff is inconsistent. One day overly helpful, then others less than compassionate. In a facility that caters to the elderly especially memory challenged adults, consistency is very important.

Due to COVID-19, this is an unusually difficult time for families who have loved ones in assisted living/skilled nursing facilities. My LO has only been in this facility for 3 months. It’s a first time for us so I have nothing to compare the care or management to but we have had some difficulties to say the least. There’s been a lot of turnover in both management & some in caregivers. Mostly management it seems. It would be a much better time to give a review if we weren’t in a pandemic. From what I can tell not being able to go inside to see for myself is that, for the most part, the caregivers do a good job. My LO has complained frequently about a lack of entertainment & activities which has more than likely been considerably affected by the pandemic. She hasn’t been happy that she still isn’t able to go out of the facility for a day trip now & again which, again, is not the fault of the facility. They seem to be a bit understaffed & some employees have had to double up & work longer hours to compensate. I believe the fact that they just opened in February, then the pandemic took off, & they’ve had quite a bit of turnover in management positions has resulted in less than cohesive management practices & am hoping with a little more time & experience combined with getting this virus under control & allowing family & friends back in & the residents out for excursions, the situation will improve.

The tour went well. [Name removed] was very informative. We discussed possibility of using the assisted living area, with level one added to it. I liked the assisted living facility. The memory care part was not to my liking. I definitely won't use the memory care. I am thinking about assisted living. The memory care area reminds me of adult day care. The activity room is very nice. The outdoor patio is poor, no shade area, no pillows on chairs. The staff was very nice. I liked the dining room at the assisted living area. It's a family private dining area that can be reserved for special occasions.

Didn’t get to tour but front desk friendly, had brochures ready. Very open, clean front room and eating area. Daughter of resident was very pleased with service, her mom happy there with activities

What a surprise I had while visiting Harlingen today. I planned to visit a long time friend, as I have done countless times before, who resides at Valley View Assisted Living. I was denied entry because management has installed a new automated sign-in system requiring multiple computer kiosk entries that makes signing in a chore, requires you to have a telephone and to disclose your number. I have an unpublished telephone number that I was unwillinging to enter into the automated Valley View system and was told by [name removed], the manager, that I could not see my friend. Valley View has definitely made it more difficult to visit residents and I that is a shame!
