Most of the aids in the memory care unit were poorly trained and only did as much as they had to, especially on the afternoon/ evening shift. My husband died 16 days after being placed there and they called my adult children before they called me. When they did call the nurse was very rude and just blurted out my husband had expired and that I needed to come right away. She didn’t even say she had bad news or that she was sorry. The care we were promised and the care my husband received were very different. The food was frequently served cold and cooked to death, hamburgers as hard as bricks. I saw an aide eating a big dish of ice cream in front of the patients but they were not offered any. This place was a huge disappointment to our family.

Very disappointed in the lack of professionalism of this facility. After being assured that this was the right place for our parent they refused to accept him at the last minute leaving us in a bind and scrambling to make other arrangements. The nurse who evaluated him said "maybe I read the wrong chart" after making several false statements about his care needs. We had been very forthcoming throughout the process and nothing had changed about his status. No viable reason was ever given and we are confused and angry. The lack of transparency and double talk from the administration was very unprofessional. The facility is lovely and residents seem happy but our family feels mistreated and deceived.

Not a good place. Saw lots of patching on the walls, ripped screens, damaged windows. Memory care is dark and depressing. They seem disorganized there.

The staff here were very nice and they did a very good job with our tour, they took their time showing us around and they answered our questions. Mom and I felt that the community was somewhat outdated and it had an odd order. The rooms were not at all what mom was looking for and she knew that she was not going to be a good fit here.

Did not get very good information when we toured this facility, the rooms were limited and the cost for us was higher than others we had looked at.

Don't believe the hype. This facility was voted as a "Best Of Kenosha County 2015" facility. We had a loved one at this facility and concluded that we should have looked elsewhere for better care. Nothing could be further from the truth about this place being the "best" at anything. The on-site top management was lazy and invisible in the day to day operations of the facility. However, the front desk staff was professional, courteous and extremely helpful to the residents and their families. On site memory care does NOT exist. This facility is not a true continuum of care facility. Furthermore, the scheduled daily activities looked good on paper but RARELY did the schedule play out the way it was listed. Activities were frequently cancelled, shortened or just didn't happen. The activities director had a laize-faire approach to her position and did not actively seek out residents to join scheduled daily activities. We witnessed a high turnover rate at this facility due in large part to the poor compensation of lower level employees. The daily menu was average at best and lacked healthy, low fat, low carb options. From our family's experience, we noticed many residents gain significant amounts of weight after residing there for awhile. Overall, this facility was a terrible value for the amount of money we paid.

My father was here for a short time and was taken care of by a great staff. We found the community to be taken care of. Activities were offered, but he was not there long enough to participate. I would recommend for others needing care for a loved one.

This place attaches many additional fees to your monthly bill. The building is dirty and needs repair. Veterans are forced to pay an additional fee if they do not choose the residence's medication plan which is higher in cost. If your love one has dementia and does not understand well, stay away.

Unfortunately our experience with Brookdale Genesee Valley has not been a good one. The staff need better training, and better supervision. It feels like a lot of the time he is just left alone instead of receiving the care that we are paying for. He isn't bathed as often as he should be, he doesn't receive assistance getting dressed, and his sheets are changed only very rarely. The place looks nice enough, and the food seems good, so maybe it would be a good place for someone who needs less help, but it hasn't been a good solution for us.

First of all I will say that the food at Morningside is absolutely awful. When my mom was there 2 months ago I would go and sit with her at dinner or lunch and I could not believe the meals: pale, tasteless, gray, unimaginative. The picture above of fruit and greens is fraudulant. The lettuce is white and the fruit canned much of the time. There is a huge turnover of staff and that is concerning. They would have a time each month when the patients could voice their opinion of the food. When they heard complaints, nothing changed. Food is frozen for the most part and heated up. The place is disorganized. The crafts infantile. Overall, I would warn you in thinking the pictures represent the place.

Visited....did all paperwork (which they cannot locate) Had TB skin test....do not have a good feeling about them as they appear quite disorganized. $125/night

Visited this facility but was not impressed. I didn't like the fact that it consisted of smaller individual units apart from the main building. Residents must go outside to go to the main building.

The staff are genuinely caring but 3 caregivers to cook, clean, bath, & interact with 26 residents (including wheel chair bound & incontinent) is not enough. The livingroom/dining room was so congested with walkers & wheelchairs that I called the fire marshall to complain. The square footage is NOT zoned for that many residents in wheel chairs. My parent with memory impairment was placed here against her will by her self directed POA/daughter/employee of Paradise Park. After 1 year of expressing how depressing the environment was & several (one successful) attempts to scale over 6' fence, the POA that imprisoned her here shipped her 7 hours away, also against her will. Also note if you like doing business with good morals, this is NOT the place...[removed].

My experience with Morningside of Jackson has not been a good one. Without going into specifics I'll just say they made a lot of promises before we moved my loved one in, and did not deliver on any of them. Their performance was just very poor in general. I would not recommend them.

services promised, not rendered. ex: assisted bathing etc. frequent rudeness from most. Two employees were notable for their consistent helpfulness and courtesy. The financial officer and one LPN.

Rude and selfish care associates that do not have any training. This place is a disgrace and a black hole for your life's savings. DO NOT let anyone you care about live here.

We toured this community when we were looking into care options for a loved one, and I was not impressed at all by what I saw here, I didn't even make it all the way through my tour. It seemed very unclean, the staff were not friendly, and it just did not seem like it had a good atmosphere overall.

I removed my Mother from the facility because on 4 separate occasions my Mother was given the wrong medication. As luck would have it I was there and caught it. I approached the front Desk on the first occasion and brought it to the nurses attention as well as the Executive Directors attention. The Head nurse showed no concern and the Executive Director walked off; the wellness nurse was the only one to address it. Another time the medication person was about to give her another residents medication, As usual nothing was done. As for activities 85% of the time they never take place and the residents sit around and watch TV or just stare at each other between meals, The resident turn over is huge as most relatives are not pleased with the services they receive for the amount of money charged. My mother fainted and broke her ankle one evening after dinner and had I not been there she would have stayed on the floor until the next morning as they do not do the required mandatory checks on residents after dinner. One caregiver told me that she did not have time to be bothered. I retired and am now taking care of my Mother who is very mobile and healthy but has early to moderate stage Dementia. The food was terrible and they often ran out of one of the menu items. I was having to spend more time there with my Mom than I was working.

We were disappointed with this community. The building that was designed for memory – but the ones that were of higher acuity didn’t get enough attention. Building smelled like urine. There was a very high turnover of staff. The directory of the facility had only been a few months told us it was best – but to put our mom in the facility and not to tell her where she was going and not have any contact with her for ten days to let her ‘acclimatize’.

Did not like this at all we did not have our tour with Jill we had it with a young man who had just been put in sales. He was very unprepared not price list couldn't answer a lot of our questions it was not as bright and inviting as the other tours. Definitely will not put Mom there. :(
