Communication is best in person though with the shortage of workers you have to be persistent and patient. If you need to communicate from outside of the facility, it is best done by text or appointment.For communication not in person that requires more immediate response, calling is best but again be persistent and patient.Very friendly caring staff that are very willing to work things out with family for your loved one's best interest. They are however are a little short staffed. Beautiful well planned out facility with many activities, hair salon, library, movie theatre and PT on site. Open to accepting pets within their guidelines.

Some of the nursing staff were a bit frustrated with the amount of care my friend needed. I got the impression they felt she did not qualify to be on their unit. She was in hospice care. In the dining room they could have helped cut up her food so she could manage it better. Another resident tried to help her out. The place was clean and had a nice outdoor space to take her outside to visit.

We toured Cedarhurst of Canton and it was a lovely facility. The staff was lovely, also! This facility just didn't offer as many options/room space as some of the others that we toured did. We decided to continue on with our search.

Overall the staff are good and provide good care. I rated Meals and Dining rated at a 2 because they are short dining staff; wait service not consistent; food bland and boring, reminds me of a high school cafeteria; frequently run short of staples like milk, bread, etc; staff need supervision. Somewhat better in memory care, where my wife is. Activities - seems good but I don't participate often as they don't appeal to me. We have a majority populace of very elderly folks. Value for Cost - they just raised our rent [removed]%. Now pay $[removed] per month ($[removed] for my wife in memory care; $[removed] for me on the assisted living side). However, I take care of myself except for room cleaning so take meals out (I rarely eat here). I don't feel I'm getting much value for the cost I pay. $[removed] a month is pretty expensive rent for a small 2 & 1/2 room apartment with a parking lot view. However I do feel safe and it's quiet here. I do get upset though when my wife gets out unescorted. That's happened at least 5 times in the 14 months she has been here.

So here's the reason for the ratings of 3 and 4 ..... My mom had been experiencing incontinence with urine for a long time before entering assisted living. But incontinence with bowels just started on her first day in assisted living. The hospital had her on stool softeners because she he been in bed for a long time and was taking pain meds due to several fractures to her pelvic bone. I explained all of this to the Cedarhurst nurse. After a few more days of incontinence with bowels, I asked if she was still on the stool softeners, and the answer was yes. I talked to the nurse again and we agreed she didn't need to be on the stool softeners any more. Common sense, right? After a few weeks, my mom is still battling incontinence with bowels, and one of her caretakers is complaining that she's doing it on purpose and made the statement "What am I, you're slave....wiping your [word remvoed]?. (My mom couldn't do that herself because her legs were so week. She remained wheelchair bound after leaving the hospital.) When my mom told me this, I sent a message to the Cedarhurst of Arnold executive director. I also included pictures of my mom's bathroom where there were used latex gloves and sanitary wipes on the floor. Her response was appropriate. I'm not sure if the caretaker was fired, but I know there was a long discussion. She also had a discussion with all residents during dinner time asking them to come forward if they are mistreated. So it turned out that my mom was still having incontinence with her bowels because they were still giving her the stool softeners. This time, they stopped giving her the stool softeners. The assisted living rent was $5,300/month. And then on top of that, we were paying $1,400/month for their highest level of care.

Great community. Lots of activities and friendly staff. Clean faculty, wonderful spaces Perhaps a temp issues but lots of turnover at the daily staff and nursing staff as well as with administration. This has lead to some headaches for a new resident and with providing best care.

Monroe Place is a smaller facility offering a warm, homelike atmosphere. Mom was only here for a few months, but it was long enough for me to comfortably say I would recommend this facility to others. The staff was very caring and patient. They take the time to get to know each resident which is so important. They make every attempt to accommodate each resident’s individual needs, to make them feel at home, safe and part of the community. Family is also invited to participate in events extending that community family. Thank you to the outstanding staff at Monroe.

Cedarhurst is a very nice place. My family member loves her apartment! All private pay is just soooo expensive! But they do a great job taking care of Mom! It's comforting knowing, even though she's in her own apartment, that she is visited and checked on at least five times a day!

It has been a wonderful experience, for both my mom and for our family. They are very communicative, responsive and my mom feels very well cared for. I would recommend this community to other families.

Our family had an in person tour and the tour experience was just okay, the community seemed a little more institutionalized then what we were looking for. However the staff members we met with were all very nice and very professional.

Whitlock Place has caring and professional staff. The care for my mom has been outstanding. The staff are respectful , trustworthy and helpful. The culture is one of dignity and respect for older people.

A couple of staff members had poor attitudes in wanting to assist us , and they would ignore us and visit and complain about personal and work things at the desk. Others were fantastic and very accommodating. Pay attention to people trying to get assistance. It's a good place for memory care, not so much if physical needs are needed.

The staff was very friendly and caring. They showed a lot of interest in our loved one. The only negative was the food as it was a little less average. The quality of food could be improved upon. There were meals a day served to the residents. There was a standard menu for the residents could order off of if they didn't like the special of the day. The staff communication was good with the family when we had questions or concerns and they were responsive.

We never considered this community. Nothing negative I can think of but just not the "warm and fuzzy" vibe.

The staff were all extremely gracious and kind. They also offer different levels of care here. I was just not very impressed by the look of the facility itself, it was very old and had that nursing home feeling to it.

Our family had an in-person tour and it was a really nice community and was our second choice but the community was just too far away.

My loved one likes the food. We picked this community, because it was closet to my home. They need to improve on communication. There has been a lack of communication For example, when I call to ask a question, I have to leave a message and they don't return calls. They offer activites, such as; Bingo, craft projects, class with making cookies, memory cards , and coloring. Overall, I am pretty happy with the community.

My loved one liked the food, and enjoyed playing Bingo. It was very expensive. The rooms really felt like a bedroom, and it did not feel like a hospital. They went above and beyond to get my loved one in the facility. I would recommend to other families.

All of the staff here are extremely friendly. The executive staff takes time about a month after move in to sit down with the family and go over everything and make sure everyone is on the same page with the care. One frustration I have had is we have been unable to get some important doctors appointments set up for my loved on - but that is no fault of theirs. I would absolutely recommend Cedarhurst of Columbia to others looking.

They cost a lot for the limited services they provide. they have too many issues with their dining services. They promise benefits they cannot provide. The community could improve the following: quality of food, variety of good, speed of service, and follow up- drink refills.
