A Place for Mom has scored Cascade Living Group with 8.1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 291 reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time, Cascade Living Group has 1,010 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 4.2 out of 5.
While I was at this facility, I was touring their assisted living building and I was not impressed. In the dining room, all of the tables were scraped up on every corner like all of the carts and wheelchairs were hitting them. They didn’t have an upscale appearance and the cleanliness wasn’t that great either. The whole place looked shabby and filthy like their walls, carpets, and elevators. On the other side, they have independent living and it was completely different. I would not recommend this facility to other families who are looking for assisted living.

The hospitality, and the knowledge, and the staff is great! I do feel like once the resident gets in there, they drop all communication with the resident, when they were first trying to get in, it was, what can we do, and how can we help and when they paid the money and moved in, and it all went away. The services and the staff were great, but once they got the money it just all stopped, and when we said we were going to move out, they were all over it. The worker complained all the time about being short staffed, and they felt like they were putting people out when they asked for help with little things like hanging a large picture. Springs meadows is the one they were in. The look of it, it's a beautiful building, it's really neat the way it's decorated. The food I would give a four. It was neat to walk around and look at the old pictures on the walls, and the old furniture, the curio cabnets. I think they lack the extra training or a different way of orienting the staff. They had singers come in and all kinds of thing. Maybe once a resident moves in they can give a little more of an effort to encourage participation, at least for the first month or two. They had a lady that introduced herself, once, but never followed up. My mom attempted to join in but found it to be kind of cliquey. We warned the staff that this was going to be a hard transition for them and they said they would be there and get them involved and make them comfortable, this didn't really happen. They were the only ones who would work with us as far as the down and the deposit. We chose them because they sounded very genuine, but they fell majorly short. I hope they are able to see this and just improve a little bit as far as getting residents involved and paying attention to those not adjusting well. This was the only site that had gap care for independent living an organization that came in on the side that you pay for extra care services, a subsidized group that could come out if you needed some help for an hour, or even fifteen minutes to help with things that were just a little too difficult.

Well we were told how they could provide professional care for our Mom. We have been with them just over 2 weeks now and we have had issues with the staff. First they did not know what day we were moving in. Second the paperwork from the Doctors office was not looked at before we came on that Monday, so they could determine where to put mom and what care to give her. So we had to leave her furniture and come back the next day to move mom in. Well now we are dealing with CNA's who do not know who they are caring for. They have forgotten or did not know they were to escort Mom to meals and check in on her every couple of hours. So she has missed a few meals, not ok. We picked this place because they have a good staff ratio, but I am not seeing that at all. We see the CNA's busy on their phones even when in the room with our Mom. Soiled bed sheets were left in the shower one morning. I have address some of these issues and will again. We are thinking of moving her. There non refundable deposit is outrageous, it is one month's fee. I would not recommend this place if your loved one needs to be checked on often.

Housekeeping was not regular. At a couple of times I waited three weeks for housekeeper to come to clean my cottage. Staff (kitchen and aides were friendly. ) activities at Point were good. The Pointe is clean. I was told during two tours that my cost would be [Amount Removed] as a second person. They did not tell me that when[Name Removed] entered memory care that I would be charged the regular fee. So, expecting my bill for February to be[Amount Removed], I received a bill for over [Amount Removed]. for two weeks in [Dates Removed]. I am taking[Name Removed] out of memory care and we are both moving to a container house on my son's property. I cannot pay [Amounts Removed] a month.

My aunt's Care Plan was not followed. No matter how many reminders, her teeth continue to get gummy from lack of brushing, her coffee is served black (never with cream/sugar as repeatedly requested). Her nails are not trimmed unless I take care to do it myself. Some days I find her wheeled into the dining room, sitting by herself without her glasses or hearing aids. Her hearing aids are often forgotten, either in her ears or uncharged. She has a festering wound on her arm covered by a large soggy bandaid. Chart notes indicated a previous scab (really? As I am unaware of any previous scab) had come off during showering. I was not advised, as the sore was less than quarter size...... admittedly, now larger. An LPN (who, borrowed from another facility, appears randomly) came with a new bandaid. I had to be the one to send her for ointment. Another resident made the time to tell me that "They don't care. You're okay here as long as you can take care of yourself." I agree.

My mother is very needy and needed more assistance than they were willing to give. Small things like apply cream to a sore on her bottom, push her to the lunch room or unwrap her legs so she could shower. She ended up getting full of infection when I went only 4 days without showing up. I moved her to [community name removed] and they have no problem doing these things for her. Such a huge relief.

Getting to the room within the time that was quoted in the tour, there were to many times we had to wait up to 20 minutes, too long to wait to go to the bathroom. Not spending enough time with the resident always in a hurry leaving dirty clothes laying around and not putting them in the laundry basket. Just not cleaning up after themselves. Taking the time to adjusting the clothes after a bathroom visit, bottom line, training all employees to do the same tasks and keeping a close watch to make sure they do. For the price we paid I feel they should have done a better service.

Our loved one got a bed sore which became an open wound that STILL required a wound vac. I believe this could have been avoided had it been recognized and addressed sooner. We really did enjoy Regency Park and I know my dad did too. But we really believe that had they dealt with positioning correctly and being more aware of and dealt correctly with his pressure sores, that he would not have had to advance to the next level of care. He was in the hospital for quite a while, and he now has a wound vac constantly and a wound care specialist seeing him multiple times a week.

The expense of the facility doesn't match the quality of most of the staff. During our initial visit we were told a lot of things that would be done, but in the day to day care, things are not getting the attention that is needed, example told to us that when you summon a caregiver they would be there in about 3 minutes to meet your needs, I have witnessed it taking over 20 minutes to attend to my parent bathroom needs, this has happened more than once. I see on a day to day basis that attention to quality care is overlooked for quantity of care, just get it done and move on.

The food at Alpine Way was awful. My loved one basically sat in her chair and stared at four walls and the tv. They did have music once a week. No visitors. Her caregivers [names removed] were fabulous. My loved one passed away on the 3rd day of the month. The facility charged me until the middle of the month, which was BS. The main front desk person had no personality and basically ignored us when we came in. My loved one's carpet was filthy and they did a lousy job of cleaning her room. The staff never visited with her. She needed dental work and they were no help. The grounds weren't very well taken care of and they seemed to be short staffed a great deal.

There's an odor near my our loved ones hall... all the time. They don't shower her unless I ask for one even though she's supposed to get 3 per week. Activities are advertised and scheduled but don't happen. The food is so-so. Housekeeping is not weekly as it should be, and they don't dust. They don't do a thorough vacuum. They don't communicate across staff. If I leave a message at the front desk, they either don't take the information down or don't send it to the appropriate people. They don't reply to email when I have questions. For the record, I'm sure they care and would like to do better. I think they're very understaffed, and I think that's true for all facilities. There just aren't enough people to do the work.

The Director of Sales & Marketing was the best staff member at the facility and made the move-in experience extremely positive and she communicated proactively in all aspects. My parents had a nice room, good food and a nice view from their room. Was a struggle dealing with Business Office Mgr. Ginger. My final invoice (after questioning the amount) magically came back to me at $900 less. I wonder how this may affect other elderly people’s payments or executor’s payments - who may not carefully analyze their invoices The executor for my step Dad also had serious issues with lack of follow up from Biz Mgr. (calling 4-5 times before a return call came). He also experienced her condescending attitude. The executor’s feedback to me was “Alpine’s #1 priority is collecting money, keeping us confused - and making sure we know that a late payment will cost you $150.” Tried to submit complaint to the Better Business Bureau, but Cascade Living Group is not BBB Member, nor accredited by BBB.
