Bickford Senior Living

They are taking good care of my husband and his needs here at this community. It is a very well-kept facility, his room is nice and clean when I visit. We have had some medication issues, as well as insurance problems. Other than that everything else is going well. There are activities offered. He is pleased with the food. It is a very expensive community. If you have the money for it, I would recommend it.

The common areas and dining area are neat and clean. There is all most always something going on the common living room with the residents. We've had some issues with the laundry being damp and not put away, but they have been working on that. Overall our family likes the facility, but we feel need to keep checking up on the ever day things. Like are they getting our Mother to go the meals, going down for activities, getting her cleaned up on a regular bases and so on.

We have been very pleased at this time with the service of Brookdale.

This community was friendly, but when I first walked up, somehow I walked to the wrong door and noticed that things were hanging from the ceiling outside. It was not well kept up. It is sort of like an old fashioned small community. It is a little bit older than other communities. It was not bad, but not what we were looking for.

The staff is very friendly. They work very hard, especially the caregivers. They really work hard, but I think they are short staffed. I think from what I have seen that they are under new management, and I think their reputation is starting to go down due to budget cuts. They are having too few people do too many things. It's very homey. A good place with pets welcome, and a very warm and welcoming environment.

It been okay, there have been a couple of glitches, but those have been worked out. They have a lot of activities, and everything is clean and neat. There have been no complaints about the food. Sometimes the meat is a little overdone for her, some of the grilling and stuff can be a little overdone. Everyone is very friendly they bend over backwards to help you.

A family member toured this community, and said that is was the nicest of the ones we saw. However, the base rate was $5300 a month. If you need to add care, the price goes up from there... If the care needs change, the price will continue to go up. Too expensive, but very nice.

It was too small, it wasn't as spacious as Emeritus. That was probably the thing for us, my wife loves to eat out and it wasn't like a restaurant, it was just too small. The director followed up with me the most, he kept calling and when I told him I had made my decision he congratulated me on it.

They are a pretty good community. I wish they had more activities for the residents there. They could use more day trips off the property. Just seems like there is not enough to do. I would recommend this community.

Clean and well run smaller facility. Close to home

During my tour i felt Bickford showed well. The facility was cleaned and homey. I was there during breakfast, the scene feeling like a restaurant. Prices are mid level with others in the area

Stay on top of loved ones belongings...because everything is open game in a memory care facility

We couldn't get in the front door. Someone finally came and opened the door. While we waited for the host we noticed a chair in the lobby was badly stained and the carpet also appeared stained. We went to a small conference room. The furniture was worn. There was a tray of glasses and coffee cups but we weren't offered any. We went by the dining room, asked for a menu. It was okay. The residents seemed very quiet, most did not speak to us, and most were not smiling. The apartment was big...large bedrooms, but it was worn, scratched up. My husband has had several falls, one of the reasons we're looking at assisted living. If we didn't pay for extra care, they can't come in and help get him up. There Is no designated activity room so activities seemed limited. The price is comparable to another place we visited.

Overall there are staff members that are absolute stars who clearly care about the residents. The worker bees will always be. The unsung heroes with the most impact. That said, it is clear more education for the staff is needed. Bickford is taking steps to provide dementia training and I appreciate that proactive attitude very much. I don't think the Activities director is capable of recognizing her own deficiency in that department. She has repeatedly used language and displayed behaviors that are contraindicative to an environment that is a healthy and supportive place for residents with dementia or PTSD. However, I would not recommend this community to others. I have concerns that have never been addressed.

I did not interact with staff. Just the intake person. Who is basically selling me the room and services. It appeared clean. In the areas I was in. He never actually moved in, he was placed on hospice care 2 days later. "Most places I have found what they sell and what you actually get are far apart." That was a quote from my cousin.

She was in memory care at Bickford and the studio is small. She didn't spend much of the day there, I noticed that the staff kept residents in a community area together, which I liked for [Name Removed]. [Name Removed] is not a picky eater, she ate well. She never complained about the food. My sister [Name Removed] has been in and out of the hospital and rehab since the end of May. She has been to Bickford for a total of 8 days since the end of March. It has been hard to communicate with Bickford, as her care needs have changed so much.

The experience at bickford is ok. Till the new director came in and changed things and now my dad is getting evicted at the end of the month since we can't pay the whole bill and I gave them everything he has. I'm working with mi wavier and Medicaid to get him help. I've ran across with this director last year she didn't help me out at all. I'm having problems finding a place for my dad right now with the short time I have. He has no where to go.
