The place is clean, looks nice and has friendly caring staff. The rooms are great. The food is excellent and homemade! There are plenty of activities for residents to be part of if they decide to participate. I feel this is a great fit for my family member.

[name removed] and [name removed] were very knowledgeable and helpful. The facility was very clean and nicely decorated. It seemed like there was a lot of hustle and bustle with activities going on. I felt like my mother's safety was paramount to them. It would be on my list of choices for respite care.

We were very impressed when we toured, it was out first choice, however we had a family member that shared a very negative experience with care of another family member in the past year and stated absolutely not. They ended pulling them out of care and placing them in another facility. It was disappointing as the facilitate seemed to meet our needs best.

The staff is truly tremendous and go above and beyond to care for their patients, and I'm not just saying that because it sounds like. I can't express how safe and comfortable my mother and I both feel with her as a resident of Bickford. It's truly a family atmosphere where she is receiving exceptional care daily.

Staff was very helpful, my mother needed a lot of attention and the staff was there. They always made sure there was something available that she would eat. [name removed] was outstanding, compassionate and very informative ... always available to answer our questions.

We are impressed with the caring attitude of the supervisors. The staff tries hard to meet moms needs. The facilities are nice and have a homey feeling. Would like a few more activities involving talks or music.

The staff are fabulous and always greet you with a smile. They are so good to the residents, which has helped my parents transition from the house they lived in for more than 60 years much easier. I owe a big thank you to A Place for Mom for recommending Bickford!

As with any elder care facility, family members need to take an active role in their loved one’s life. If the facility realizes you are being an active advocate, fewer things will fall through the cracks. As with many facilities, The Rivers struggles with staff turnover. Just a few months after my sister arrived, the facility was bought by a national corporation. Many lifelong staff members chose to leave. This was actually beneficial for my sister as some of the staff had become complacent. New management arrived and reassessed my sister and came up with a plan to aggressively improve her physical condition. Within two months she changed from being someone who was given 30 days to move to a nursing home, to someone who now can get in and out of bed on her own, transition on her own to a wheelchair or motorized scooter, and can get into a car to go on outings.

Very accommodating to our family needs. They staff help with a smooth transition from assisted living into memory care. I would recommend to others.

Facilities were beautiful and well maintained. Staff was so friendly and helpful. The activities director drew Mom into things even though she had limited capability. Nursing staff was very caring. Glad we found this place!

The staff is very pleasant and calls you by your name. They are responsive to requests and inquiries.

Very expensive and you have to supply everything, even your own toliet paper. It was a great place but it was very expensive. Only used for respite care for two weeks but paid for whole month. Don't know how people can afford but I know I can't.

They work hard to socialize the residents with games, news, and other activities. The residents are never left alone in their rooms except to sleep at night. I do not think it is possible to improve on the food. It is ample, and healthy. But cooking for so many people limits how wonderful and tasty the food can be.

My father has been there two months now. I found the staff to be both highly attentive. They do a good job of keeping me posted on my father's health status.

The caregivers were wonderful, my dad enjoyed the dining. A wide variety of activities were offered, and they always had time to answer my questions. When hospice care was required they were very helpful.

We had toured other facilities that were very nice, but they had more rooms and also had multiple floors. My brother was afraid he might get lost in the larger facilities. When we toured Bickford we were told that there were only 37 beds in Bickford. My brother wanted to sign the papers right away. He felt that this was a place that he could really call home. It was really clean and had a cheery atmosphere. The staff were very helpful and had great interactions with the residents. My brother couldn't be happier at Bickford. This is facility will be there for him as his dementia progresses.
