Bickford Senior Living

Four months ago, my mother moved to The Bickford of Spotsylvania, Virginia. My family recommends the place. Mom is happy and well-tended too. We toured 5 plus establishments before selecting The Bickford. Our experience at Bickford has been positive; albeit a learning experience. This is our first encounter with a retirement home. Situations we have learned along the way are more of learning curves versus bad experiences. My mother started in the assisted living section. Here the individuals walk to meals; share living spaces and are more independent. My mother required more care and thus moved to the Mary B side. We were reluctant for that level of care; but that level of care is exactly what she needs. The staff there save foods my mom loves for different meals, engage her, leave her notes to perform various functions to assist her; they are very attentive and call family if something is amiss. Her room is always clean; they are diligent about helping her with bathroom activities; work to engage her and over all a very family environment that is welcome. Mom is happy and we feel she is very safe there. My whole family recommends Bickford. The smaller number of residents we find helpful as well.

The atmosphere was nice and the residents seemed happy. There seem to be a lot of interaction between the staff and the residents. We were impressed and decided to choose this place for our loved one.

My Mother has improved dramatically in the short time she has been there. She is more vibrant, eating better, walking better, no depression...thriving! I loved the Family Advocate! It really helps the family members become familiar with their approach to care. The Montessori approach to care has been impressive!

My tour of Bickford of Bourbonnais was a very pleasant one. The atmosphere was very pleasant, clean and inviting. [name removed] was very pleasant and helpful and provided us with a lot of information. I felt like Bickford would be a nice place for dad..

[name removed] did a nice job explaining all the amenities. The building was very clean and appeared to be will maintain. We like the open living space and the restaurant-style eating areas.

[name removed] was super responsive, kind and helpful in both confirming our tour, during the tour, and in the time together following the tour. The facilities look updated and clean, the staff was welcoming and friendly, too. [name removed] too the time to understand our family’s needs for care and asked questions to get to know us and our family. She acted as if there was no other place she’d rather be on a Friday night at 6:30pm. It was our first assisted-living visit and it might be a tough one to beat.

I am very happy with the care my Husband is receiving. What we like the most about the community is the staff, the care and the cleanliness. Yes, we would recommend Bickford of Rockford to other families based on the experience so far.

I toured this assisted living community, and I was very impressed. The staff was warm and welcoming. The building was clean and inviting, and the residents seemed happy and well-cared-for. It's important to feel your loved ones are in competent hands. I plan to bring my mom here.

I like the staff very much. They are warm, friendly, and very good at caring for the residents. I understand that it can be hard, but the food is a bit tasteless and not very warm. They could spend a little more time tailoring the activities to the individuals. My father is not a joiner, but he always worked with his hands. He is great at fixing or repairing things. It would be great to have an activity that allows him to quietly construct or repair something.

The staff is above and beyond in every way. They are all so loving, caring and good at their jobs. They know my mom, they know every detail of what she needs medically and otherwise. [name removed], the head nurse is too good to be true...she is reliable, true to her word, never forgets a thing and is so dedicated to the residents and their care and happiness...she treats them like family. Honestly, I couldn't be happier for my mom. The head cook, [name removed] is also amazing...she is a wonderful cook and has told my mom...whatever you need/want, you let me know, I'll either make it or get it for you.[name removed] (admin) I have heaps of praise for as well They work together as a team so well and are both so kind, professional, helpful and knowledgeable. So grateful to have found Bickford. And, oh...my mom loves it there!

Looked at Bixford Cottages to review facility, services available and costs. Received an excellent friendly tour and found it to be very well suited for memory care and assisted living. Individual quarters are small, clean, and efficient.

We chose it because of the flexible, independent nature of the community, even for residents who are in memory care. Also, when the level of care increases a move is not necessarily required. One improvement that could be made is a central intake form for family, communications, and requests. The staff is hopeful, but sometimes it is not clear which one you need to speak to.

The Executive Director gave us a thorough tour of the Bickford community and then answered all of our questions. She did a fabulous job! The residents looked quite happy in their environment. Everything was neat and clean.

I cannot say enough good about Bickford house. It is absolutely amazing. The staff is so attentive extremely clean. Food is delicious. Price is exceptionally reasonable for the facility.

I have to give Brickford the highest rating (5) They took care of my sister in every way while I was away for a month, excellent attention from the staff and management, only wish that my sister could've decided to stay permanently, it would've been a great relief knowing that she was in good hands. They also offered help with the insurance which I think was great.

We picked this community because, staff, having her own bathroom in her room, amenities and the pleasant welcome we had from the community! Definitely would recommend to others.

Brickford was Absolutely amazing!! 5 on everything!! In the order was important to me....Care Services, Staff, Value, Cleanliness and Overall experience. I couldn't be any happier!! My mother passed with dignity there!! We would Absolutely recommend this community to other families!!! 100%

The facility was clean and presented well. The tour led by [name removed] was excellent. We initially went to the Blondo facility and [name removed] stated that this was not the right facility. She pivoted quickly and we went to Hickory. It was friendly, the staff was great and re food was made from scratch. The focus for the residents is working with them to bring up the level of capability. The activities definitely reduce isolation. The rooms are smaller with limited closet space and no library which were different from other facilities in the area.

Wonderful place to live. Small community makes it feel cozy and welcoming. Home cooked meals. Staff is excellent and care is outstanding. Very attentive to my mother’s needs. I would recommend Bickford for anyone looking for there forever home!
