The services are good and the staff cares about the residents.

There are a good amount of activities nice facilities, but the food is not good. The staff seems nice. There's lots of activities. The transportation is good, but the food is not good.

Ask questions several times during the process - The timeline from initial discussions and visits to move in can be lengthy. So, it is best to confirm amenities and services that are important to your loved one before you sign paperwork. Several important amenities had been discontinued by the time of move in, so expectations were off. Notwithstanding, NPV is still a great place!

The cleanliness of the facility was big in our decision. The outdoor grounds were and always are beautifully landscaped and take care of. The layout of the rooms are better than others I have seen. They allowed my stepmother with Alzheimer's live with my father in assisted living for 6 months to ease the trauma of moving. They worked with us where other homes wouldn't. I would definitely recommend.

The staff are kind and no-nonsense - they get the job done. Mom is clean and comfortable. The activities leader, [name removed], is fantastic. The food is healthy and she seems to enjoy it. Her room is a good size and she likes it. The room and her laundry are cleaned regularly without issue. My mother is difficult due to her dementia and the staff are managing her well.

Moving in was easy but I was informed that the manual hoyer lift I had needed to be removed from the premises because it was not the type that the staff had been trained on. There was a concern that “the State” would find a lift that had no one was certified to use. It was removed and donated the next day. What was not disclosed was the electric lifts on site were not working rendering my wife being bedridden until new equipment arrived (approximately 2 weeks). I can’t imagine what would have happened if there was a fire or smoke condition (with no working equipment). On the plus side the staff is friendly and the food is good.

Very nice facility, friendly staff, great programming for residents. My family member had a difficult transition into the facility, however, and I think more could have been done to help her adapt. She is still struggling to get into a consistent routine after a few months, and sometimes it is hard for us to connect with or get responses from a staff member who can help us come up with strategies and plan for her care.

The facility is clean and well maintained and the food is quite good. There's a good range of services for a small facility. The staff (both direct care staff and upper level staff) always seem a little harried, although mostly friendly enough. My complaints are first world problems, like laundry getting stuffed in random drawers instead of in the drawers I've carefully labeled. The biggest issue is that mom needs an "escort" (someone to push her wheelchair) so she has to wait for someone to come get her to bring her to activities, meals, etc. (This increases her required level of care so we do pay for this.) Which means she can't share meals with friends or social events easily...often when she arrives everyone is wrapping up. She has mostly given up on trying to make it to the various social programming they offer because she has to call someone to come get her and then wait.

I like it. It is expensive, but worth it if you have the money. It is assisted living and NOT nursing -- so good if the senior is still healthy and active, but could be bad if the senior has a lot of doctors and meds -- you will still have to manage that

My mom was very happy there. It was a very positive experience. My only complaint was that we were facing a big increase in cost after only 9 months. Be diligent about signing contacts. Sit down and go over them in person. We never paid the increase because my mom died suddenly

The facility is great. The residents get a call button to alert staff for help. It is a private pay facility, so medicaid funds are not accepted. We've recently learned this and revisiting other agencies that do accept state funds (when that time comes, within next 3 years, most likely)

I was happy to find a wonderful place for my mom. After her home evaluation she was accepted into the assisted living traditional care level. They were aware of mom’s needs for frequent cuing & her inability to make decisions. .After about 3 wks they said that she needed memory as she was having a hard time adjusting and needed more emotional support and cuing. Well to my surprise now I’m facing a $[removed] increase for her care in just a short time. I don’t understand the sharp increase. Mom does not wander, she baths, dresses, feeds and walks independently but somehow she’s now considered level 1 vs standard care. The cost for dispensing medication is another mystifying concern. In Assisted Living an aide hands mom her meds for $[removed]/month but now in memory care they charge an extra $[removed]/month to perform the same function. Standard over-the-counter meds now require pharmacy bubble wrap but yet the aid could just hand her the pills. Overall I’m happy with the staff & care but not the cost.

Very professional, clean and attentive

There could be some improvements to those with special dietary needs - for my mother it is finding something to eat that is on her diabetic diet such as low carb and low sugar. There also could be more up to date movies and more arm chair activity and exercises for residents who have limited mobility.

Okay on experience, no additional comments and yes on recommendations.

My mother has been a resident of split rock for a little over a year. She is considered an independent living with no personal aid care. She does get some minimal house keeping. I have had issues regarding lack of house keeping. The activities they offer are wonderful and the staff who run them are also wonderful. Unfortunately my mother who has declining memory does not participate very much although staff does try to encourage her. My mother is a very picky eater and doesn’t eat much. Unfortunately my family will have to decide what will be best for my mother. She is 92 and will be needing supervision and more care.

The apartment on 3rd floor was very warm. Could not adequately control temperature in the apartment. Overall staff was wonderful. Great with my mom and responsive to me. The nursing staff were very responsive. The food was ok. Mom only ate in her apartment. Delivered in styrofoam containers. Not always warm and times of delivery were inconsistent. Seemed like good activities but mom would not participate. The cost did increase significantly within several months Note: mom transitioned out of Benchmark in [date removed]after 10 months. Moved to [community name removed] L for 7 months. Then [community name removed] for a month. She passed in [date removed]

My family member has settled in nicely staff has been great very good food and residents are always clean.

The overall experience has been good. The meals are the only thing my father complains about. With the activities they offer a lot of extra things and lastly value for cost the cost of care for my mother who is in a memory unit is outrageous but her care probably is worth it. It's just hard for an average family to sustain, that kind of cost my father's cost because he is doing well mentally and physically is no more than an apartment would be so I'd say yes his cost is doable.
