Benchmark Senior Living

My mother has been a resident of split rock for a little over a year. She is considered an independent living with no personal aid care. She does get some minimal house keeping. I have had issues regarding lack of house keeping. The activities they offer are wonderful and the staff who run them are also wonderful. Unfortunately my mother who has declining memory does not participate very much although staff does try to encourage her. My mother is a very picky eater and doesn’t eat much. Unfortunately my family will have to decide what will be best for my mother. She is 92 and will be needing supervision and more care.

The apartment on 3rd floor was very warm. Could not adequately control temperature in the apartment. Overall staff was wonderful. Great with my mom and responsive to me. The nursing staff were very responsive. The food was ok. Mom only ate in her apartment. Delivered in styrofoam containers. Not always warm and times of delivery were inconsistent. Seemed like good activities but mom would not participate. The cost did increase significantly within several months Note: mom transitioned out of Benchmark in [date removed]after 10 months. Moved to [community name removed] L for 7 months. Then [community name removed] for a month. She passed in [date removed]

My family member has settled in nicely staff has been great very good food and residents are always clean.

The overall experience has been good. The meals are the only thing my father complains about. With the activities they offer a lot of extra things and lastly value for cost the cost of care for my mother who is in a memory unit is outrageous but her care probably is worth it. It's just hard for an average family to sustain, that kind of cost my father's cost because he is doing well mentally and physically is no more than an apartment would be so I'd say yes his cost is doable.

I know that staff is always a problem to get and they have had some that should not have been there but they have a great administrator who has only been there a year and she is wonderful. She is right on top of everything. They have a lot of great staff. It is so beautiful around the inside and outside of building, it's a must see. Always clean. My sister loves the people that help her. I think the activities could be changed up more. But it would be a place I would go to.

Very impressed with the cleanliness. I just checked with my sister and her number one thing that has made it a great experience is that "the staff is kind". I can't put my finger on it but it's just the overall experience. The minute you walk-in everyone at the front desk is nice. It's clean. There's always something going on (activities, music, etc). They post often on Facebook. I see my dad in several pictures. the harbor wing where my dad is - That's the dementia area - always clean. Staff is always nice. They're on top of things. I would like to add this - we went through the initial process and it would've saved us a lot of time if they had just said upfront that an incoming resident needs about $1 million. It was a great place and we wish we could've afforded to have him go there, but I felt like we wasted time not knowing that the minimum requirement was $1 million.

I would definitely recommend the community. I think the staff there is very kind and try to be as accommodating as possible. My parents would prefer more frequent housekeeping services and more flavorful foods.

The professionalism and compassionate care they gave our mother. Also, the cleanliness of the room.

Within a couple of weeks, many staff members, at all levels and roles, knew our loved one's name. That impressed us. And, who wouldn't love ice cream socials every day???

I would recommend the community, however the cost is out of alot of elderlys budget. They should accept Medicaid.

They were great until my sister got sicker. They did their best but the cost got very high. My sister died there in hospice care The staff are all very nice and try their best.

Benchmark at Rye is a great facility for those who are seeking memory care. We chose this facility due to the location, the reputation that they have in the area and the presentation.

I would definitely recommend Benchmark to a friend. Since it is a smaller community there is a lot of personal service. The staff knows everyone and is attentive to their needs. We did have a bit of a communication challenge with the nursing staff but it is fine as long as you are proactive.

She has a one bedroom and the rooms are really nice and spacious. The kitchen is well equipped, although she doesn't really use it. The grounds are beautiful. She does go and sit outside once in awhile. The library comes in handy for her as she reads a lot and can't always find books on her kindle. And I found your website very helpful and all the places that responded were also very helpful.

I'm mostly happy with the facility. My mom enjoys the activities, & the staff are all very nice & friendly. The 2 negatives are the food has to be purchased from 1 supplier & the food is very bland & tasteless. The soups have little in them & my mom is used to the very chunky loaded with vegetables, meat & pasta & flavor that I cook. I've eaten there a couple times & even the fresh made Belgian waffles were a disappointment. Residents have spoken to chef in group meetings, but they said they can't make changes. The other negative is I've needed to get in to see my mom for emergencies & overnight desk person wasn't readily available to open locked doors. That is not acceptable. Overall tho, my mom is happy, making friends & enjoying the activities.

Beautiful entry with friendly and professional staff. The apts are very nice and roomy. Dining hall is nice for the regular residents. For the dementia folks it's not as nice.

I would recommend it. Staff was wonderful.

I would absolutely recommend Branches. It's been one of the best decisions our family made for our mom. They've been accommodating in helping my mom go from the main assisted living quarters to the memory care unit.

My dad liked being at the atrium. I thought he would have received better health care, but I guess that's not what they do. My dad contracted shingles on his face, and it took a while to be treated correctly. Overall, it was a much better place than the nursing home he is in now.

My loved one is no longer there but the nurses were all great! Based on the experience we had with The Atrium, we would recommend this community to other families who may need a place for their loved ones.
