Benchmark Senior Living

Overall we were very happy with what this community provided. The staff were almost all very friendly and helpful, and the facility itself is clean and nice looking. They have a good amount of activities, although I wish they'd fill out their schedule a bit more, there was still a good deal of down time, and sometimes activities would be cancelled or rescheduled on short notice. We were very happy with the end of life service my Mom received, the nurses were caring and attentive. I really can't speak highly enough of that service. One area they could stand to improve is their nighttime staffing, every location I visited had very limited staff available after hours.

The overall care here is fine, the staff are attentive and friendly and respond quickly, but we've had a few issues and I don't feel like all of my mother's care needs are being met as best as they could be. Mom has a few health issues that require extra attention, and I thought the on-staff nurse would be able to help with them, but apparently the nurse is only for consultation purposes, not treatment. The staff are also more reactive than proactive, they're happy to respond to and fix any issue but they could do more to prevent them in the first place. Overall I'm very happy with Shrewsbury Crossings, it's clean, friendly, and I sleep better at night knowing Mom is in good hands. There are some areas they could improve on, but I recommend it highly.

I found it to be a very nice place and the staff is wonderful. I think that she is overly fussy and can sometimes be mean. They are a very nice place.

I liked this place and my brother liked it a lot but he just felt so welcomed at their sister community. We went here twice. It was a very nice place and the staff certainly were warm but their sister community in Ridgefield just appealed to us right away.

it wasn't anywhere near as fancy as Maplewood but you got the sense that there were more activities and it seemed like they catered more to the residents. We didn't choose primarily because it was in Trumbull, so the location wasn't as convenient. Also, the size, it was a little large and we thought that mom could get lost.

My mother-in-law is no longer there but The Village at Mariners Point was wonderful. It was close to her home, she knew a lot of people there and the staff was wonderful to her. Her son decided that he wanted her near him in Florida so he moved her down there. There was nothing wrong with The Village. She was very happy there.

Nice, but I thought a lot of it was unnecessary. It is like a lot of linen table clothes and chandeliers. It comes across as being higher tier as far as aesthetics and everything. It's rather expensive. But I don't know if crystal decor is really necessary to take care of my mom. It was nice, I will have to say that.

The staff at Haverhill Crossings was so friendly and it is obvious that they all are very attentive to the needs of the residents. The building is showing its age a little; the carpeting is showing some wear, but overall it is a pleasant place for my mom. They offer many activities during the week for the residents, and we just enjoyed a Halloween party for the families and residents, complete with trick or treating for the grandchildren! She loves the food, and there are always options to choose from when she would prefer something different. They plan trips, have a hair salon, laundry rooms, and plenty of "living room" areas for residents and families to use. The location is awesome- just off Rt 495.

I have been extremely pleased with Coachman Square at Woodbridge. This is my mom's second placement in assisted living --- she previously lived at Atria Crossroads in Waterford, and I am way more pleased with this Benchmark community she lives in now than I was with Atria. At Coachman Square they actually act like they care and the staff members, for the most part, seem to enjoy their jobs. (At Artria, I felt like money was the biggest motivator and they did not follow through with their promises). I understand that these are businesses that need to make money to stay profitable, but at Coachman Square, they actually appear to put the residents first. My mom is happy there and hopefully she will remain there the rest of her life.

Brookfield Common is a lovely facility with very nice staff. The food is very good and they really try to include the family of the resident by hosting events like a cocktail hour, ice cream or pizza social, and a fashion show. There are plenty of activities for the residents to get involved with and the staff is very much open to suggestions and will make every effort to accommodate your wishes. We had one or two minor issues but they were resolved very quickly. I would recommend this resident community.

They exceeded my expectations - this was the best fit for my family member. It's well-kept and was the most cost-effective option. They seem to be exceptionally interested in keeping my loved one engaged.

This community is really nice and the staff was really wonderful. They are bigger then what we were looking for but overall it is just a great community. The staff is really friendly and they maintain the community very clean.

The Atrium at Rocky Hill is totally dedicated to memory loss, which is why I chose it. Other places I visited had memory care units that were on a second or third floor. The Atrium is all one floor with a courtyard. There are only 61 residents so it feels more homey. The Atrium is still very new for us so it was hard to rate the Value, Care Services, and Activities. I think I was expecting more, like more outings, but they do have a full schedule of activities posted.

My dad lived at River Ridge for a year. He loved it. A week after he moved in he fell and fractured his wrist. In spite of it being 9:30PM on a Sunday evening, the nurse on duty called me immediately to let me know my father was on the way to the hospital. Dad was cared for at River Ridge and did not have to go to rehab. The doctor on the staff of River Ridge oversaw this care. My dad could sometimes be a handful and during a particularly stressful time the team of care givers, up to and including the administrators, helped resolve the issue with compassion and professionalism. The kitchen staff and all the certified nursing assistants were caring and kind. Even the maintenance staff were diligent and effective. I would not have moved my dad but for a different level of care and a savings of over $1,200.00 per month we moved dad to a facility in another state. My older brother is now dad's caretaker. My only complaint is that there were not enough activities for dad outside of the River Ridge facility itself. My father is fairly able-bodied for an 84-year-old man and sometimes he was bored. That was also a side effect of his failing vision but more activities would have been great. I would recommend River Ridge to anyone who needs the assisted living level of care. The room size is nice, good space. They worked so hard to help us get him moved in as fast as possible. Which was better than any other place was willing to do. The staff has been helpful and very nice. Dad says all the helps are very nice and pleasant. Dad's room is always clean, and the common spaces as well as ways look good. I have received no complaints about the food from dad. I have seen him happily eat up two meals, totally cleaning his plate.

What we like the most about the community is the staff, the facility itself and the activities that are provided. Yes, we would recommend Benchmark at Ridgefield Crossings community to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

Our experience with Branches overall has been very positive. This is largely because the people who work there genuinely care about the residents. Every time I visit my Mom, I feel very good about the choice to go to Branches. Moving has been a big adjustment for my Mom. She lived in the same house for nearly 70 years. Also the stress of my Dad passing has influenced how she asks for / does not ask for help at Branches

I visited Benchmark and was very impressed with the building. Everything is new and very well decorated. Staff are friendly and very helpful. It's also in a great location. It's a fairly new facility and the needs of my relative include close monitoring and limited access or freedom to travel outside the building. I had a concern about the open-door policy. So, even though it wasn't a good fit for my needs, I think it would be a wonderful place for independent living.

The staff is terrific, and the room sizes seem just about right. My mom is in a studio and it's a good balance between space and cost. The food is decent, could be more creative but I don't know another place where it might be uniquely better. My mom does not typically engage much in common activities but she has been to some at this community which means they must be doing a good job gently encouraging her, which I appreciate.

The staff is very nice and friendly and helpful--the facility is nice and clean--the location is really nice--easy to get onto major routes and to hospitals--my major concern is that it takes too long for the staff to respond when someone calls for assistance---more than 10 minutes in a lot of cases---the food is very good and available from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM---all in all a nice place for someone like myself who is independent at this time.
