Belmont Village

Very good communication with the Manager of the Memory Care Unit and other staff, in the initial weeks before I visited in person. This was very important as we were advised to delay our first visit to allow time for my Aunt to acclimate, and naturally there was some anxiety on my part, so the good communication with me was reassuring. So far so good in terms of a recommendation. I will add that A Place for Mom was a tremendous help. We had to find a place within a few days to move my Aunt and A Place For Mom was a huge help!

I would say 90% of the time the staff was awesome… There's a lot of communication that has to happen between disciplines and I can only imagine how hard that is… as an occupational therapist in home health and a prior school therapist… There are so many points of communication to manage. They were patient and understanding. They were gentle and gracious, and very sensitive and tried to make mom and dad feel as at home as possible. Unfortunately, dad was not interested in mixing and expanding his social circle. It took him a long time to finally come to terms with such a drastic change.… And one he never thought he would have to make (moving from their home)... into an assisted-living. However, the move aloud, the three of us caregivers the ability to access them as they were in between all three of us geographically. While our time was always shorter than desired… We were each able to keep our families somewhat above water. Activities were good… I especially liked the painting with [Name Removed]… Dad liked the exercises. The seasonal group activities work but a bit too overstimulated and crowded from my dad... wishing there could've been more of an outdoor opportunity, but you can never bet on the weather. Would like to have had more opportunities to mix, nature and outdoor spaces, but for what there is, I think it was as good as it could've been. Cleanliness – – seems like there could be a little something that could help it stay organized better. Also, I think some sort of daily orientation in room might be good for some people. A communication system to help the resident and the staff keep track of who had what done. It's a very disorienting experience. We are able to have our parents at one community (NOT 2 different communities); we did not have to use skilled nursing due to the services and community opportunities at Belmont. Also, the staff was accommodating with allowing us to have group meet ups and access to semi private spaces for meals.

Staff are friendly. Facilities are in good shape but a little older. Food is good. Activities are very good and regular. Staff have been very engaged and available both while we were looking for locations and after we choose.

Levels of memory care - Circle of Friends, longevity of staff, dedication of staff. . Yes I would recommend Belmont Village Geneva Road to other families

Awesome amenities, and on-site medical staff if/when needed. Graduated care available and no need to move from your unit to another for that care. Grounds are lovely and the year-round heated pool is beautiful. Food was very tasty and the community is warm and inviting.

My family and I toured Belmont in Encino, looking for a safe place for my mom, who can no longer live by herself. The first time we went we were very impressed by the accommodations and their circle of friends program. They made such a good first impression that we immediately moved the facility to our "Favorites " list. However, when we toured the facility a second time it became very clear that they are understaffed. We encountered several residents (with memory issues) who were lost in the hallways and needed help, but there were no care partners anywhere to be seen. Our tour guide was gracious enough to assist them, but what would have happened if we weren't there touring? How long would they have remained lost? Considering my mother has some memory issues, the absence of proper care & attention at Belmont is concerning. Why pay money for minimal care when mom could get lost for free at home? After a quick search on the internet, it seems others have reported understaffing as well

The facility may be somewhat understaffed, getting staff assistance sometimes took longer than would be ideal. The administration was very attentive and helpful.

Move in process was easy. They have been very accommodating. The staff I've been in contact with have all been great. super friendly. Facility is clean. Living space is great. Our personal transition has been hard and we've had to go back in to the hospital so I can give a better assessment of activities and community feel at a later time.

Overall the facility is clean and well taken care of. The food is amazing with good variety. Almost all of the PAL's/caregivers are top notch, truly care about the residents, and treat them like family. We've had good experiences with all staff and of there are ever issues, we are able to get them resolved. Yes, I would definitely recommend Belmont to families looking for a place for their parent(s).

It's a new building and the amenities are nice. The community allows residents to stay in their apartment as they transition from independent living to assisted living (if needed)

[name removed] has lived there for a year and has adjusted well. He loves the food and the employees. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. He enjoys the music and the fact the employees have been there for a long period of time.

the activities look great but my Dad hasn't been able to partake yet. very, very expensive. Everything costs extra and they are understaffed. Elevator has been down for over 3 weeks. Yes, we would recommend the community to others but warn how expensive

The staff is very caring. Activities are o.k. Food is better than other rehab/retirement communities and many more choices.

My experience with the head nurse was awful. My husband entered Belmont Village after a 3 week stay at Northwestern Hospital. He was in hospice care for only 5 days before he died at Belmont Village. The head nurse showed no empathy sympathy or courtesy towards my loss.

I thought they did a great job reaching out and trying to meet our ever-changing needs... We had to find a place that would allow mom and dad to be together. Mom had been diagnosed with cancer in February and dad had been cared for my mom for over 10 years with due to his Parkinson's disease . In April of last year, mom was going to the ER for a port infection. While she was at her appointment, dad had fallen and broken his hip at home. He was not generally left at home, but we knew the extra trip was going to be too much for him. He was discovered between three and six hours later seated on the floor by my sister. He went to a different ER. The next day he had surgery and then he had recovery in the hospital. Dad was 89 and so of course it took a while to heal. Thankfully, his pain was not too bad. Next was transit to Austin to a skilled nursing facility at Westminster. He spent about a month there. And then he went to rehab for almost 2 weeks. I believe it was central Texas orthopedics. Just a little east of Westminster. Westminster was pretty good but kind of well. I guess it's just an SNF.... They did not encourage people to mix or talk very much. Rehab was like a dungeon. At the time our family was too thin to give dad much advocacy what he needed desperately there. He actually declined in rehab. We looked at Brookdale's the one on 2222 and the one in Westlake. I liked the one in Westlake, especially but I did not like the dark and dungeon like assisted living also... It was not going to accommodate two people. What I like about Belmont was that it allowed us to get mom and dad together again for the first time in over two months. At first mom was able to walk around and was interested in taking part in some of the activities. She went to a couple of the group activities, but usually spend time with dad since dad was more in dwelling and did not want to reach out as much. Mom was the social one. Dad liked the exercise classes that occurred every morning. He refused to participate in any of the real social hours... He humored us by attending some of the special events. Angela and Candice tried their best to encourage dad to get out and try some things They were available by texting and that was helpful. [name removed]and [name removed] and so many of the other caregivers were so helpful and caring for our mom and dad. We definitely miss our Belmont family and owe them some BIG thank you's for all of the energy and patience. They put into their work on a daily basis with not just our parents but all of the residents. Mom passed in July and dad had to be on his own. That was a better pill to swallow. He had several weeks but shouldn't turned into months and then he eventually passed in December on his anniversary with Mom. The end of care possibilities with hospice was especially helpful. Our dad was his therapist. The nurses were amazing also. And they work very well with the staff there. I only wish we had started sooner with hospice.

Everyone is very lovely!!! The staff is so kind and I love the kindness and intention that is evident.

Belmont Village La Jolla is a beautiful facility. The staff is remarkably friendly and absolutely knows every resident and visitors! Less support for independent living.

My mom was there for only 7 weeks for respite care. My good friends has her mother there for over a year and they are pleased with the facility. Their mother is a difficult person, that agitates easily and is always trying to escape Belmont Village seems to adequately handle all her needs and are able to handle her.

Overall it's been a good experience...we had a few promises from administration that they didn't follow through on...it is very expensive but my sister does need the care...thank you...both times I've used your service I've been very satisfied
