Belmont Village

I thought they did a great job reaching out and trying to meet our ever-changing needs... We had to find a place that would allow mom and dad to be together. Mom had been diagnosed with cancer in February and dad had been cared for my mom for over 10 years with due to his Parkinson's disease . In April of last year, mom was going to the ER for a port infection. While she was at her appointment, dad had fallen and broken his hip at home. He was not generally left at home, but we knew the extra trip was going to be too much for him. He was discovered between three and six hours later seated on the floor by my sister. He went to a different ER. The next day he had surgery and then he had recovery in the hospital. Dad was 89 and so of course it took a while to heal. Thankfully, his pain was not too bad. Next was transit to Austin to a skilled nursing facility at Westminster. He spent about a month there. And then he went to rehab for almost 2 weeks. I believe it was central Texas orthopedics. Just a little east of Westminster. Westminster was pretty good but kind of well. I guess it's just an SNF.... They did not encourage people to mix or talk very much. Rehab was like a dungeon. At the time our family was too thin to give dad much advocacy what he needed desperately there. He actually declined in rehab. We looked at Brookdale's the one on 2222 and the one in Westlake. I liked the one in Westlake, especially but I did not like the dark and dungeon like assisted living also... It was not going to accommodate two people. What I like about Belmont was that it allowed us to get mom and dad together again for the first time in over two months. At first mom was able to walk around and was interested in taking part in some of the activities. She went to a couple of the group activities, but usually spend time with dad since dad was more in dwelling and did not want to reach out as much. Mom was the social one. Dad liked the exercise classes that occurred every morning. He refused to participate in any of the real social hours... He humored us by attending some of the special events. Angela and Candice tried their best to encourage dad to get out and try some things They were available by texting and that was helpful. [name removed]and [name removed] and so many of the other caregivers were so helpful and caring for our mom and dad. We definitely miss our Belmont family and owe them some BIG thank you's for all of the energy and patience. They put into their work on a daily basis with not just our parents but all of the residents. Mom passed in July and dad had to be on his own. That was a better pill to swallow. He had several weeks but shouldn't turned into months and then he eventually passed in December on his anniversary with Mom. The end of care possibilities with hospice was especially helpful. Our dad was his therapist. The nurses were amazing also. And they work very well with the staff there. I only wish we had started sooner with hospice.

Everyone is very lovely!!! The staff is so kind and I love the kindness and intention that is evident.

Belmont Village La Jolla is a beautiful facility. The staff is remarkably friendly and absolutely knows every resident and visitors! Less support for independent living.

My mom was there for only 7 weeks for respite care. My good friends has her mother there for over a year and they are pleased with the facility. Their mother is a difficult person, that agitates easily and is always trying to escape Belmont Village seems to adequately handle all her needs and are able to handle her.

Overall it's been a good experience...we had a few promises from administration that they didn't follow through on...it is very expensive but my sister does need the care...thank you...both times I've used your service I've been very satisfied

Good staff, great physical therapy, great lunch room with good food, very nice rooms but can be quite pricey. Very nice salon but can be backed up due to high demand so they need two people or two days a week service instead of one day. Billing department needs better quality. Services offered appear plentiful but mother had not used any other than physical therapy. Overall, a great facility compared to many others!

The facility was always very clean and organized. The dinners I had there were very good. The physical therapist was very good at communicating updates on Mom's progress. I think there were a good number of activities but we would have liked to have some type of Baptist service available either in person or online in Sundays.

We picked them because of the location and options offered. My sister is a resident there. She needed a facility that had a Memory Care Unit.

All of these facilities suffer from a turnover in staff. During our time at this facility, I have seen them transition to a new leadership team. That process was a little bumpy on continuity of services provided. The day to day staff that look after my mother are all very nice.

If you have a meal in the room, even if it's a peanut butter and jelly, they charge for it. He had diabetes, but no diabetes meal was given. Gave him orange juice every day. Overall, it was very expensive if you have no long term insurance. The staff was very nice!

I rated the admin staff low because they have had minimal involvement with me. The staff on my dad's floor which is the total care floor has been good for the most part. Regardless families need to be involved so that their loved one is getting the proper care. I would absolutely not leave their loved one there without the family being their advocate. The facility was recommended to me by a colleague of mine do we did not look at other options. If I did this again I would look at a few more options.

The staff are very friendly but at times they could work on communication with families

My mom has gotten used to the community and activities is having a good experience there. They’re rather expensive but they meet our needs well. I’ve referred a few friends there for their parent(s)

I would say that Belmont has done a fantastic job of hiring friendly people. On the other hand, working with their finance office has been challenging. It took quite a while to get our billing straightened out.

My mother is an introvert so she does not participate in many activities but they do offer many. Some more intellectual activities would be nice. Lectures etc. Staff and residents are friendly. Place is spotless. Food is adequate, few vegetarian options. Hairdresser is overpriced. Nice to have PT/podiatrist services within the center. Overall happy with our choice.

The Residents, staff and management were all lovely. My Mom is now in a wonderful Board and Care home after a fall and broken hip at Belmont. Yes, we would recommend this community to other families but only if you don't need a lot of assistance. Board and Care better if you need more care. They are just not staffed to give the care most people need, unfortunately. Lovely nurses and caregivers, just not enough of them. Our family experience was a positive one, friendly staff, great caregivers, overall a really nice community and lovely residents.

My loved one is currently a resident at Belmont Village Green Hills and is doing well, so far. She moved here from a different facility and Belmont has been a better fit for her as they have more hands on care- of course, we pay for it! But they have daily activities for mild dementia residents and she has also been playing bridge there. She has been taken off of her cancer drugs due to the side effects, but doing well so far.

I would say if they have the money to definitely check out the Belmont! Yes I would recommend.
