Belmont Village

So far Mom has been very impressed with life at Belmont Village. The staff is very attentive and communicates well.

A few things have impressed me about Belmont: their flexibility in helping couples where one member has memory issues and needs a higher level of care during the day, their interest in helping those with Parkinson's Disease, and their creativity, and their ability to get residents involved in a variety of activities.

When matched side by side, most assisted living care facilities offer pretty much the same physical and dat to day care amenities for dementia residents. What set Belmont apart from the places I have visited was the "Circle of Friends" program which offers residents with dementia a program that has demonstrated, through research, a regimen that can slow the onslaught of the condition

My mom moved in March 1, 2014. We are so happy with Belmont, and the wonderful staff. The pals are so kind, and caring they have made her adjustment there go very smoothly. I am very pleased with all the supportive staff who make my mom feel like Belmont is her new home. Belmont offers all kinds of daily activities that the residents can be involved in. The dining hall is very welcoming and the menu has a large selection to choose from. We are thankful we have my mom in a place where she is cared for treated with respect, and shown so much love and kindness by all the staff. Thank you everyone at Belmont for making it a great place for our loved ones.

I feel my parents are quite happy with Belmont Village. I am pleased at how the staff have made them feel very welcome.

This place is wonderfully clean, attentive, friendly and has great entertainment. We don't have a long time to be able to review things overall, as my mom just moved in about a week or two ago. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that there was soooo much attention paid prior to moving in, and now that we are moved in, there is lots of help and support, but on the actual move-in days, it was hard to find someone to answer questions. I wasn't looking for help for the literal move...just to find out what is okay and what's not, where things are, what to do with empty boxes, etc. It was hard to repeatedly track down people, and frankly, I was bummed there was no one to "welcome" my mom with even the tiniest bit of fanfare or little note on her door. I was happy to see there was a beautiful welcome "tea" done very nicely at the end of the month for all the new residents. Since the initial move-in, the care has been tremendous, and not ONE employee is less than fun, friendly, gracious and wonderful. I think we have found a gem (and hope it continues!)

An Alzheimer's sufferer for several years, my dad had been able to continue at home, very self sufficient in most ways and under the sole care of my Mom when needed. Then a fall necessitated many quick decisions about his condition; where and how he would need to live. Through "Aplaceformom.com" we found Belmont Village in Glenview. We have been very impressed with both the facility and the staff. The facility is very nice, bright and cheery, clean and comfortable. The staff is professional, friendly and caring. Dad seems comfortable and well cared for. We are very happy with our family's decision to move him to Belmont Village.

We placed both our parents here, in separate rooms due to different care needs. Staff made everyone feel welcome and a part of the Belmont family. In fact, many of the staff treat residents as if they are family. Varied activities, with an enthusiastic leader, are geared towards residents' capabilities, and staff always available at activities for those who need extra assistance. Special events throughout the year, like golf tournament, casino, carnival provide fun and something to look forward to. Nursing staff is excellent, caring, competent. PALs are wonderful, gentle, compassionate. Dining hall is like a beautiful restaurant; food is attractive and tasty. The facility is beautifully cared for and decorated seasonally. Both parents passed away recently. Hospice was engaged for one parent. Both Belmont staff and hospice staff were so kind, gentle and understanding. Belmont was very supportive during end-of-life. Truly, we felt relieved knowing our parents were so well-cared for and loved.

The staff and facilities are wonderful and have made my Mom's transition to her new home very pleasant.

It was our second choice, it was just a little more ecostly as a non refundable deposit and that was a little bit prohibitive, it was like 4,500 dollars. WE felt very welcomed, it was a little bit larger than Sunrise, a little bit more sprawly because it was kind of laid out in sections instead of floors so I had less of a feel for where the people are.

I'm pleased with the level of care and the cleanliness of the facility, the food is fantastic, the only thing I would say, and I think this would be common to any place where you have someone is you still have to keep an eye on them to see what's going on. Little things happen that you just have to follow up on and follow through with, like they're supposed to change a specific caregiver that day and it doesn't happen so you have to follow up with them. Overall I'm very very pleased with how she settled in there. She was very resistant to going but she stopped battling and she seems to be content, it's really amazing. On the whole they're great, a 4.99 it's just that one thing, you still have to be vigilent, I trust them but it's like having a child, but I really couldn't be happier, if I had to move her somewhere I would look for a belmont village community.

The food quality is high and presented well. The kitchen takes pride in the food. Then entire staff takes time to know the residents. One of the first things my husband noticed was how many people throughout the building knew his name. It made him feel welcomed and safe.

Clean, bright, it had a modern personality. We met two people,one a retired doctor, who had relatives there, and they were extremely positive about their experiences. Employees seemed positive and the facility had a full social calendar. We were impressed. It was a little outside our geographical circle or we would probably choose it for our relative.

High costs. From the lobby to floor 7, you have to go up some stairs, or take the elevator up to 1. Then, go to the other elevator to floor 7, and take a walk. Good to know that in the garage, go down . to the 2nd level down. There is no sign saying "Visitor Parking", so I just park near the VERY BACK in that part of the garage where there is a little orange elevator. . There is a code you have to use go straight up to 7, and yet another one to come down, which is quite confusing and not so user friendly. Besides, you have to call a number to ask what the codes are, but they were friendly about it. There is a bigger elevator close by that looks more inviting. You enter through a glassed in door to a small elevator room, pbut I think it only goes to Floor 1 and you have to take another elevator to 7. These are reasons why I gave the Belmont a 4, not a 5. They have made some important things too difficult. Mid AAA

We've had a great experience overall. My parents are very happy. The only issue I've had has been the process and paperwork for long term care insurance claims. Belmont charges [Amount Removed] a month to process, but it's never right

Very good Pal service, attentive. Same with most Med Techs and any issues were addressed.

The apartments are small. The kitchens are not full, but minimal. The pool area is not inviting. The food was good, but sharing the dining room with assisted living residents has its disadvantages.

The facility is new and very high end. The management is easy to work with. Caregivers are generally good but not always because of high staff turnover. The food is average.

Positive: good activities for residents, responsive facility directors, variety of food options, cleanly facility, friendly staff Negative: poor communication between nursing staff and nursing director, poor communication between nursing staff and family members

Very good communication with the Manager of the Memory Care Unit and other staff, in the initial weeks before I visited in person. This was very important as we were advised to delay our first visit to allow time for my Aunt to acclimate, and naturally there was some anxiety on my part, so the good communication with me was reassuring. So far so good in terms of a recommendation. I will add that A Place for Mom was a tremendous help. We had to find a place within a few days to move my Aunt and A Place For Mom was a huge help!
