They asked for and were given a $[removed]. Deposit. After reviewing his case file, they said they would not take him. Over the next month, It took repeated calls and finally a call from my attorney to recover the deposit.

My mother was treated very cruelly and was afraid to tell me until she was completely out of there. My mom has health challenges but was cleared to go to Atria by their assessor. Once she was there, the staff felt that her difficulties were more than what they were equipped to handle. They treated her harshly until she left. She left early and they stated that they would refund us the days that she prepaid but didn’t use. They finally refunded us but only after I sent letters to the officers in the organization. I never want to use them again!

My mother has been at the Atria in Glen Cove for two and a half years and after a strong start, things fell apart. To fill empty apartments, they let in people who needed more care than they could offer (even someone who was incontinent and someone who tried to escape). Now at least 1/4 of the residents require 24-hour aides and there are long waits for elevators because of the additional people coming into the building. There are several residents with dementia and no services to support them. This is not the place we selected and we feel like we were duped. What started off as a vibrant living environment quickly turned into a nursing home with oxygen tanks and walkers. The management ignored several complaints and has created animosity and has made us all angry and frustrated and looking to move.

Would not recommend this facility. It's an old Mill building with hardly and parking. You have to park across the street which is a very dangerous street to cross. The place itself is not clean and has a very bad smell throughout. We do not recommend Atria.

I enjoyed most of the rank and file staff. The head of the facility was extremely cold at the end. My sister and I were beyond distraught Didn't really have a lot of reco for activities They would not even give my mom ensure

The experience could not have been worse! I had a signed contract and paid a deposit. Additionally I had an email stating my mother would not be reassessed for 6 months. Yet they refused to take her from the hospital. Clearly a bait and switch.

[name removed] made a $[removed] deposit and signed a contract. Two weeks after her scheduled move in date, she decided she wasn't going to move. Atria determined that date as our required 30 day notice and kept the $[removed] and charged an additional $[removed]. [name removed] never spent a night, ate a meal or participated in any activities. Appeals for partial refunds were rejected. Late payment notices piled up and we paid the $[removed]. Overall a nightmare of irrationality and impersonal consideration. An expensive lesson. In my opinion, a facility to be avoided

Some staff EXCELLENT, some NASTY! Truthfully when you are in your 70’s do you need to deal with NASTY ?? I think NOT! There are many ways to deal with people o matter what their attitude, I you’re not happy with your job, LEAVE!

Their staff is very argumentative, unhelpful, rude and will sue you if you have any issue. Would not recommend sending my dog to this facility let alone a family member.

If you are looking into Atria Park - contact me. My husband was adjusting when director called saying he hit someone and I had to get him. They said they had it on video and gave me 2 days to remove everything from room or I'd be charged!!! My sons after asking for 2 weeks got a copy of video, my husband did nothing wrong another man started it!!!!! He was a retired deputy so my husband had to leave!! I'd never recommend that place!!!

I had very high hopes for this community as I had read many good reviews. Was looking for a place for mom in the memory care so I decided to tour. Biggest mistake, walking in the community the residents were sleeping no activity engagement. Residents walking around looked lost no care provider seemed to be around to help. I was looking for a community with memory care assisted living not a SNF or psych ward that’s what it looked like. Very disappointed as I had high hopes not only because it had great reviews but because I had a very close family friend stay in this community and they had an extraordinary stay.

The salesman was wonderful but apparently is no longer working there. Many of the promises he made have not been fulfilled. The dining room wait staff changes every few days. The "chef" left soon after move in. There is now a "cook" in the kitchen. Meals are late, cold and barely edible. Rice or peas served at nearly every meal. I do not know what we are going to do.

I would absolutely not recommend Atria- unless it was for someone who needed zero care, and just wanted a nice place to live with other seniors. Facilities are nice, care is extremely inconsistent- staff stretched thin. Care is inconsistent- do not consistently follow care plan, do not contact family when issues arise ( not eating, refusing showers, not getting out of bed)director of nursing unresponsive. Food is very repetitive, but overall good quality. Activities are okay, could use more variety, and more active recruiting of residents. The care staff are good people, but they seem just stretched way too thin- too many residents per care staff member- crazy for the amount we pay

I thought Atria was a nice place. While it was a nice place I think the way they take your money isn't right. Signed rental agreement on [name removed] because we would miss the special. Never spent a night there. Due to difficult conditions with health we never ever really moved in. Gave them a letter [date removed] cancelling the contract. In total the took $[removed] of our money with no deposit return. I will never recommend your company or Atria to anyone. $[removed] from seniors with health issues, and on fixed income.

BEWARE - Do Not Place Your Loved One In Their Care! When I initially placed my mother at Atria, it was a completely different environment, and I did not worry about her well being. Three years later, ALL of the administrators were replaced, several nurses and much of the staff left and were replaced by inexperienced, unskilled, apathetic, unfriendly personnel. There were many problems with Atria pertaining to room cleanliness, laundry, theft, etc. Because of Atria’s nursing’s neglect, my mother was taken to the hospital and then to rehabilitation. Atria’s failure to properly care for my mother, lead to a very difficult road to recovery. I had spoken to the Directors involved, regarding this disgraceful situation, and they took NO responsibility for their inaction No apologies. When my mother was released, I immediately removed my mother from Atria.

BEWARE of Atria Foster Square! Atria Foster Square presents itself as a full-service sanctuary for elderly folks like my 97 year old mother. The lovely introductory tour also included an aggressive admonition to “lock down one of these high-demand rooms right away” with a $[removed](first month’s rent) “refundable deposit.” In good faith, we wrote the check, assured that if mom decided not to proceed, her deposit would be refunded. Mom began to waffle and grow hesitant about leaving her San Mateo home of 70 years, but Atria management assured us that the move-in date was flexible and that she could take her time in deciding. A couple of weeks later, she decided to stay home. I immediately contacted the Atria staff to apprise them of her decision and request the return of our refundable deposit. Instead of a check, we received an invoice for a second month’s rent. When the director finally returned our calls, we were informed that the voluminous rental agreement included a 30 day notice to

We had a very poor and expensive experience in Memory Care at the Atria Park at St. Joseph’s. If your loved one had any negative behaviors associated with dementia/Alzheimer’s. Our 85 year old, 93lb., insulin dependent mother who suffers from mid-stage Alzheimer’s unknowingly had a UTI when we placed her here and became confused and agitated. She hit one of the workers twice. We knew this was out of character for her so we sent her to the hospital where she was admitted for IV antibiotics. We were told that we needed 1:1 care which was provided by an agency they recommended. We then placed her on anti-psychotic meds to hopefully stop episodes of agitation. She was given 3 different medications which resulted in low BP and pulse, lethargy which resulted in syncopal episodes. I was not informed of the 1st incident. The second incident happened while I was there. When we asked the workers for the nurse, we were told that he was on the Assisted Living side and the didn’t know how to reach

The way in which the operations specialist speaks to and about workers and previous workers is completely and utterly despicable. If you want a positive environment for your loved ones, he needs to be out of office, if you don’t enjoy your job or the people you surround yourself with at your job then don’t do the job. The mannerisms are better in a kindergarten classroom. As a family member of somebody who spent years in the building, I have never seen such disrespect until I came across this man.

I’ll make a long story very short. My mother in the early stages of dementia moved here. The food was terrible. We learned later that it’s because they take the initiative to make sure everyone’s eating kosher. My mother is not kosher. The food is terrible. As her dementia progressed she needed more and more outside health. At my cost. When we finally made the choice to move my mother to another floor, memory, care floor, that’s when her health took a sharp decline. While I was still providing nearly 24/7 outside care at my own cost , she steadily deteriorated. Why? Well, my mother, a slow eater was not allowed to have any help eating and when they were ready to clean up they cleaned up. Which means she ate a quarter of each of three meals a day. The idiot doctor put her on fiber supplements that had her in a new constant state of diarrhea. By the time we moved her to a new facility, she was so physically and mentally depleted her passing came shortly thereafter. Just don’t-
