It is probably a nice facility if the occupant is able bodied. If the person's health is compromised, I would not choose it. They don't have any patience with anyone that needs too much help even though you are paying more for more help.

I had a procedure at the hospital on Monday by today Friday I was told “we can’t accommodate your eating restrictions.” When asked what to do, we’re told to make something in my room for myself. I know I complain but I lost 15 lbs from March to April. My Advice is take the promises they made when I moved in often not met. I would make things told make quite clear about expectations. Promises made Promises not kept.!

The director on the AL side treats all residents as memory-impaired. That makes her difficult to deal with for issues you need resolved. If there is EVER a dispute with a staff member, the Director will ALWAYS take the staff's side regardless of merit.

Except for those that have left or got fired for going above and beyond. Staff is horrible-lazy and should be caring here. Dont believe everything your told. Activities consist of bingo and watching tv. Not memory engaging at all. So much more could easily be done with residents. To many lazy aids. All the good employes are gone. They do not have proper number of employees to care to number of residents. It took alot to get her settled very disappointing so many fake promises. I feel it was all for numbers and money. Very sad.

Very bad experience. My mom had to be placed emergently when my dad had a stroke. My mom has dementia. She was there for 8 days. 4 of those days she was sent to hospital. 1 time she was aggressive and they didn’t know what to do. I told them she needed medication management because my dad was not giving her the correct medications at home. They knew this when she was accepted. The other three times she fell. I am a retired RN. I requested she go to a hospital for medication management. On the 8th day there, they sent her out to the hospital. She has been placed in another facility where she is getting very good care. I am still waiting to get monies back since she did not stay the whole month. What a terrible experience.

Not impressed at all and would not recommend to anyone my MIL stayed there once and next time she was assessed they said "we have to raise the price" She has dementia n nothing worsened-full self care!! and then they wouldn't allow her to stay again due to some made up rules SO we found a great respite and we have no issues at all and they're not making these silly rules because we told them what happened so for future reference, I wouldn't recommend the Atria. Im a nurse practitioner and deal with all ages, and families with elderly and unfortunately although it's a beautiful facility it needs an internal management facelift

Administrative staff very cold and mainly incompetent. I felt that residents were not given much attention. Activities director is not able to provide enough activities for mentally intact residents. Most are geared for residential who are challenged.

I didn't like the staff at Atria El Camino Gardens - they were not communicative and the nurse there never ever returned my calls.

My husband had a very bad experience with Atria. He went there for a month respite day and he was dropped four times. The first time he was resulting him to go to the hospital to make sure he didn’t have a brain bleed because the aid said that he banged his head on the door jam. Which was not the case when he fell, the aid hit him in the head with the wheelchair as she was moving it out of the way. The reason why he fell because she didn’t have the wheelchair locked when he needed to sit. my husband had a stroke and has left side weakness, no use of left arm, and he cannot stand for long periods of time and he cannot walk. He was having a Gastro issue during his months day at Atria. We were told that they could not change him in the bed that they had to change him in the bathroom standing at the rail. He was dropped another time when they were trying to get him out of bed instead of them, listening, and showing him how to do it they just took it upon themselves to try to pick him up.

I would not recommend it to anyone. I moved out of that place as soon as I was able. A large percent of the people who live at atria should be in assisted living and not in a senior living facility. The place is not clean, elevators often not functioning and 'chefs' never last very long. The food is TERRIBLE. The staff talks to you like a child and will not take any of your issues seriously until a family member brings it to their attention.

Only [name removed] she’s amazing very nice and humble person. Meanwhile super nice and kind and Respected. and from the kitchen only [name removed] she is such a wonderful and amazing cook. The services of this facility is great but some of the caregivers and servers don’t respect and behave with the resonance as much as they are supposed to most of the residents don’t get treated well.?????? And their customer service people [name removed] and [name removed] is so nice

When it comes to the care services, they were completely unable to handle my loved one. They insisted we bring in outside help. My loved one managed to escape the facility. In interviewing other facilities I have come to the conclusion that Atria is understaffed and undertrained (at least in their memory care unit). With the value for cost since we ended up having to pay for outside help 12 hours a day, the cost became extremely burdensome. We have now moved my dad to another facility where he seems to be receiving better care for his individual needs. I think Atria is probably a good place for people dealing with senility, who are calm and gentle, don't move around much and just need someone to feed them and keep them company. But it is not a place for dementia patients who struggle with hallucinations and consequent behavior issues.

Beware the bait and switch on their costs. My brother was 'evaluated for level of care' 3 times and each time was elevated to a higher level of care that cost at least $[removed] more. The end cost that they claimed was his level of care was over $[removed]a month. That was an increase of over $[removed] in the 36 hours from his initial evaluation.

We were not happy with our Aunts experience at Atria Park. The assisted living services are totally inadequate. They are extremely understaffed and the wait for help is very long. One, my Aunt fell and waited struggling on the floor for over 30 minutes for help. There are many stories like this at Sierra Pointe. If one complains, one is told maybe your loved one needs to move to a higher level of care. You learn to shut up or get evicted. The food quality is poor--and the wait for service in the dining room is long. Hot food is served cold, and those who need help at meal times dont get it. I am sorry we moved into Atria Park, and glad we moved out. There are better options.

My Mom was here for one month - [date removed]. I couldn't move her out soon enough. I was hoping for a place where she would be safe and well looked after. This was not it. Her call bell NEVER worked, aides didn't show up, aides left her alone, and more. Staff who told me how amazing place was were not available post the check being cashed. I was told by her and other management "not my job". The best was when I was following up on billing issues, safety issues, concerns, etc. the response was SIGH! Highly unprofessional. My Mom has moved to a new place where she is safe, well looked after and thriving. Staff at new place genuinely care about the folks that live there. If you want to sleep at night, do not let your loved one sleep here.

Dining room is open from 7:30 to 7:00 but it seems chef has never opened a cookbook and doesn't care. My 1-br costs <fee removed>. $150 worth of gift cards disappeared from my room. There are no black residents so they just hired a second director of sales who is black in hopes of solving that problem. I estimate there are only About 50 residents and half are in Memory Care. 4 floors, 27 rooms per floor. Food was just as bad as [community removed] where staff was friendly but laundry was stolen. Management didn't care. Older, uglier building, smaller rooms, some without overhead lighting fixtures, one resident didn't even have a fridge in her studio. I'm 81 and the thought of moving again is out of the question. Never thought I'd die hating where I live. They all just want your money.

What they could improve on our would be - Getting rid of rude employees and evicting residents that cause a health hazard

It was not positive. My husband hated it and we both wanted to move back home. The woman in charge, [name removed], is a very negative influence at Atria. We won't do that again. Most staff seemed frightened they could be fired. Many rules had to be followed and staff seemed afraid to interact with residents. [name removed] was very unprofessional.

It was a horrible experience. They do not know how to take care of patients with dementia and the nursing staff at the facility is inadequate. We moved my mom after two months. Also the administration was unhelpful and rude throughout the entire process. They seemed more focused on payment than assurance of resident care and safety. Poorly run and I would never recommend the facility to anyone.

We moved my father into Atria in Sep 2023, after recovering from a bad fall, physically diminished but still mentally sharp. I gave them all legal documents (POA, HIPAA) and they committed to an open line of communication with me. They consistently reported (when I would ask) that he was doing OK (except for one cigarette incident that did not repeat), with nothing notable to discuss. In May 2024 they called me to tell me that they were evicting him due to inappropriate behavior with a staff member. I asked whether it could be a sign of mental deterioration and if we should follow-up, but they said the eviction was non-negotiable. Further, they told me a similar incident had happened in Feb 2024. They never reported that to me! This resulted in losing 3 months before we could conduct neurological/other testing to help him and left him depressed at accusations very much out of his character. Atria failed in communication responsibilities to the detriment of my father's well-being.
