They were grossly understaffed in the memory care unit. They had no activities to speak of. I had to hunt down staff all the time to get help for my husband. And sometimes I found the staff sitting and watching television. I had to hire my own caregivers for the tune of over $[fee removed] for the first week, because they couldn't take care of him. The food was okay - that's the best I could say about them. One of the staff members said that the Biden administration gave all the caregivers $20,000, so they all just left. And she was the only one who stayed. So the administration in Washington may have caused the understaffing. It may not always be that way.

I would say look beyond the marketing stuff and calendar of activities. They had a full calendar of activities, but they were a disappointment. There was always bingo and stuff, but aerobic type of activities were always an afterthought. My loved one was supposed to get checked up on. But apparently to them, that simply meant they would ask him how he was and take him at his word that he was okay. The common areas were clean, but I would see little flies around the garbage in the living areas. Dad did like the food.

As far as the people who care for our loved one we have no problems, they are very friendly. However the management has a lack of communication and it seems to be happening a lot more. The first time we visited we got a frozen people and it was atrocious, but we did confront them about it and we think it is improving. Our loved one says there are no activities, but having memory issues we have to take that with a grain of salt because we are told by staff our loved one is participating in things. It is a good price for the place, we did have problems from the beginning with rates being added and there being inconsistency.

The staff is wonderful, the grounds are clean, the rules are a bit strict with visitors but the 2 Directors (women) are rude, inconsiderate and do not want to be bothered by residents that have an issue here or there. Do NOT put your loved ones in here.

right now is not a good time to be here and the community has a severe staff shortage. Management does not treat their employees with respect. So I would not recommend this community to anyone right now.

On a positive note. . . The place is great. Staff and food is exceptional. On a negative note. . . The administrators not so great - mostly unresponsive and lax in their duties. Kitchen needs help too.

The community looked a little run down.

For your info:- no activities - very short of staff- limited dining hours- confused residents- independent living- very limited transportation.

I would not recommend this community to others. They have incompetent medical staff and communication between the staff is very poor. They were issues with the meds being given according to dr orders. They did not address the mental status of the residents.

Don't go here. I would not put anybody here that I care about, unless you can get a private aide to stay with them through a good chunk of the day. It's not that my loved one has high needs that would warrant that kind of care. It's just that Atria is not providing the care. When you push the call button, enough time will pass that you don't even need them anymore. They have terrible, nonexistent communication skills. The head care nurse won't return my calls, even when I keep calling. When confronted, she says she was just busy that week. The director is absolutely useless. The food is not great. Our least favorite was a tuna fish sandwich for dinner. Activities have been limited due to Covid but seem to be picking up a little bit.

They were friendly until they had my payment then they turned with no answers to my questions. I was leaving messages and no one was calling me back. There was no care, medication, or anything for staying only night for the payment I made. They wouldn't refund me for the two months paid even though my loved one spending one night.

This community seemed so nice from day 1, when we moved in the price that was quoted was not what they told us. it was almost 600 dollars more. They tried to increase the price within a couple of weeks to almost doubled. The communication was not very detailed and they didn't update us on covid issues.

It's fine but not for everyone. This community is more for the independent resident than those that are needing assistance.

He is not having a good experience at Atria Glen. The food is not good. They only make sandwiches for meals and they do not have a full kitchen and run out of food a lot. Some people have left here because of the food situation. Overall, I would not recommend.

I would say not to go. They nickle and dime you on everything. The Atria Aquidneck Place is consistently raising prices, and saying my loved ones need additional care. I am in the process of moving my loved ones out of the community. The community has a la carte and this is where the money comes into play. They didn't lower the price because the residents are locked in their room due to the pandemic. Nurses are making appointments for the residents and not information families.

"They get used to it" from the staff when we are concerned about our loved ones being sad that they are stuck there was a disgusting reply. "They" are people, people who deserve to feel special. People who deserve to have things they had when they were home Z Zoom calls have tons of noise in background This place might need some work. Update: they don't enforce that the visitors wear masks. Visitor sitting in a wide open window with NO MASK ON! in a NURSING HOME! Christmas : drive from bk. My mother made a request I got the christmas picture of my grandma. Open the card after leaving to an empty card. My heart sank. This is the hardest christmas of my life and with all the money spent for her to be here, these people were so insensitive and thoughtless they gave me an empty christmas card. Hurt a bit to find out they ate chicken soup and grilled cheese for dinner. Imagine your loved one had soup and grilled cheese for dinner. Soup. Grandma is now sick and nobody bothered to inform us

They rave about their food but I hear from her and the residents that they do not like the food and it could use major improvements in that area. Transportation is also something they need to step up on, when you sign on they make it sound like if you schedule it it will be no problem taking your loved one places, and it has not been that way. We locked in a rate and it is on our contract and they are trying to change it, I keep trying to get a hold of someone and he has not called me back, it has been 3 weeks. They have a major elevator issues, they have 1 elevator for the whole community (300 something residents) and it breaks down a lot. Some staff members truly are wonderful and I do feel like she is safe here. Overall, we have not had the best experience with this community.

The activity score is prior to COVID. I would tell my friends that they have over promised and under delivered. The community has a lot of turnover within the management team. The case manger position has turned over 3 times, there has been 2 heads of nursing, and 2 executive directors in a 10 month window. The only people that have stayed consistent are the sales person and the head of dining. The food was overall good to my loved one. The food would sometimes come out cold or wrong. I believe this has to do with the staffing issue. The staff would sometimes bring my loved one to doctor's appointments, or I would go pick my loved one up. The medication list was not written legibly for the doctors to see, when they would give me the piece of paper to give to the doctor. The paper of medication wasn't always given to me.

We had a terrible experience at Atria West, however it was always kept pretty clean. The staff was very agreeably and acceptable when we moved our loved one in, but they were not able to take good care of him. He was often left alone when he needed help, which resulted in him falling three times. The nurses station would not bath him after he would soil himself unless he had a bath scheduled for that day, and if there was no bath scheduled for that day he would sit in his soiled clothes.

This community has gone through management changes, and at first it was great and we heard the activities director was great, but they ended up leaving. Once they left the activities really dwindled. They advertised to us very clearly that the memory care unit was very separate from every thing else. this is typically a very clean appearing facility. The basic everyday cleaning was absolutely fine, but once COVID started the infection control was not consistent, and there were times the staff were not wearing masks, and our loved one actually got COVID. My mother is Jewish but does not keep kosher, she is severely under weight and sometimes has been told they cant accommodate to her wish for dairy during her meal in which meat as been served due to kosher laws.
