Atria

It's been going fairly well. The drivers are wonderful, it's very clean, well kept, and the maintenance staff is fantastic. It's a beautiful place. It's independent and you can do your own thing. They have beautiful spacious apartments. They have activities, and movies are great. It has a very uplifting environment. The food is just really below standards sometimes it's good but there are times when my family member won't eat and sometimes if they don't like what they are having and request something else they will be out of the other things that they like.

This was a nice looking community that we toured when we were looking around for options for Mom. It looked and smelled clean, which is always a plus for these places. The staff was friendly during our tour. They seemed to have plenty of activities, although not as many as some that we visited.

I am from Northern Westchester Hospital. We scheduled talks for the Atria residents. We appreciated the opportunity to bring our providers to your facility. The staff was very welcoming, particulalry Jennifer who was always there to assist us with the set-up of each inidividual talk. Julie was also very welcoming and the person with whom we arranged these talks. Julie was there for the first talk, but not for the others, which was okay because Jennifer was there.

Choosing an assisted living for my Dad has been one of the hardest decisions in my entire life. My Dad is my entire world........he's always been my rock and since his diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease, I have become his rock. When we were first told he couldn't come back home, I began looking into assisted living. As soon as I walked into Marland Place, I just had a amazing, warm feeling. Everyone was so nice to me and I felt from the start that the entire staff really cared about Marland Place and what they could do for my father. Rosie and Jim have Ben by my side the entire way......I cannot say enough about both of them. I have laughed and cried with them. Today I brought Dad to live there......words cannot describe how hard that was for me to close his apt door.....my Dad and I have always been an amazing team. I have to let go a bit and allow the Marland staff take over in my Dad's care.....it will be an adjustment for us both. Getting that phone call from Jim telling me that dad is just fine and he will thrive allowed me to breathe and my tears stopped flowing out.....although my Dad has been dealt a tough hand in life, he deserves to live the rest of his life in an amazing, loving and caring environment. I truly believe Marland Place is the place for him.......

My mom has been here for several months now. The staff is always super friendly to residents and guests. What we really like about it is that it is a smaller community so residents seem to interact more, We had previously tried a larger faculty that always seemed like a ghost town/museum than a community/home. Many of the activities are led by residence which has its advantages (people are engaged) and disadvantages (not every activity actually happens)

This was a two or three story building which I really didn't want because it's too hard when you have a problem with memory to find your way around and I didn't think multiple floors and stairs would help.

This place was very nice but not as convenient for us as another Sunrise location. It didn't have as many restaurants and things around to go out and it's wasn't as new. They had a house dog - a rescue dog that belongs to everyone in the community.

For us, the positive part of Atria is that [Name Removed] connects with other residents. There are other residents on the same cognitive level as her. She is able to hang out with her "friends." when we visit, we often find her in the common spaces interacting, socially. That was our primary reason for choosing Atria. I really don't have anything negative to say about the facility.

The staff were hit or miss. There always seemed to be somebody promising to call my wife when she would see them at the facility with a question and then never following through. The director was very accommodating.

The staff that I had contact with were all very kind and compassionate towards my father. But there was a constant turnover of employees. The room was very nice and clean and they offered a lot of activities. The food was average. The building was under renovation the 4 months we were there.

Staff and executives constantly changing since last November. People who have been here 3 months training people who started working here yesterday.

I have been a resident at Atria Collwood for approximately two years, I am in independent living which means I don’t require any care. I recently had a fall and because of that I was charged [amount removed] extra last month. I didn’t get any care and when I questioned my bill I was told that I needed to take care of the details of getting the care myself. I spoke with the nurse and got the same answer. I am suppose to know what to do. I am not paying the additional [Amount Removed] next month and I am expecting to get kicked out.

I wish we would have had more time to see the social areas and gatherings places. The 1 studio apartment we saw was very nice. We did not get a chance to meet many staff members.

Negative, there are no directional signs in the long hallways (ie: Dining on floor 2, lobby floor 1, etc...). Would be nice if they had a little convenience area where you could pick up a few necessities, for example bandaids, deodorant, personal items). My sister always can't get out there to go get her things she needs and she doesn't drive anymore.

The virtual tour was fine. The costs seem higher than comparable facilities. There were several additional monthly costs aside from the basic rent! It’s just not for me!

Nice people--residents, care givers, and staff. Care levels seem off to me, but that may be lack of comparison. Good for respite care. Note--When a caregiver told me bathroom assistance for level one was basically every 8 hours, I found that concerning. When I was still in the wheelchair, I was told that if I wanted to be taken to the patio after lunch for some sun, that would have to be written down and my care level would rise. I did sort of feel trapped until I was mobile on my own.

Location and safety is good, builds a sense of community. Food quality is poor. Apartment and room size is appropriate. Price increase this year was substantial.

The numbers all speak for themselves.

My issue stems from a lack of communication. They always tell me about what they have confiscated from my parents in memory care, but no one ever tells me what the solution might be. They kept taking his disposable razors, but no one once mentioned that buying him an electric razor would solve this. Not until I was sitting in their office having a rather unpleasant conversation with them. They also told us that products "without warning labels" would be ok in their rooms. Then they confiscated their dove soap and when I looked over the packaging and the lack of any warning labels with them, in their office, they weren't able to explain why they weren't allowed to have dove soap... they just knew they couldn't. My mom also ran out of a medication that an outside agency administers (they won't do injections). I didn't find out that my mom was out of medication until she told me herself a week later. I spent about $[fee removed] over the next two weeks out of my own pocket for medication while we worked through insurance issues. I understand that they aren't the ones administering, but they are the ones storing and accepting refills. If my mom hadn't said something, we would have used up one of our insurance approved nurse visits for nothing because there wasn't any medication.
