Atria

Atria is the place to be if your parents have simple needs and prefer to live in a smaller community. My mom is fairly new there and is quite happy and the rates are reasonable. They provide laundry service and housekeeping once a week as well as more supportive services to those that need them. The studios are a good size and surprisingly my mom is okay with only one room to be concerned about and not having a kitchen or a big house or yard to clean. The staff is kind and courteous and if you visit often will get to know you as well as your family member that lives there quickly. There are different activities daily in about two hour increments. Music, games, jaunts to restaurants, drives, shopping outings and doctors and crafts My mom has enjoyed the scenic drives around neighborhoods in the area, exercise classes and bingo especially!

It’s a lovely place. My husband who has Alzheimer’s joined me with this first visit to a memory care center. But it upset me just to think that he would stay there when his disease became unmanageable for me. There was nothing wrong with Atria, I just couldn’t see it as our place in the future.

Staff is overall great but management is in turnover. There's been some miscommunication about agreements we made regarding pricing. They insisted on memory care after just one incident of mild exit seeking, which was disappointing. However since moving to memory care, my dad has gotten a lot more engaged in the community.

The staff at Atria is STELLAR! The apartments are spacious, lots of activities! They have had some challenges keeping a consistent bus driver, and the food could be improved.

4 stars if you have the right fit. If Safety or Medical are your top priorities then a 2. They won't get either here. I was there almost every day to help my mom. I was exhausted. I really recommend ANX for medical services including hospice. It took me a few months of being there to realize that my mother was not a good fit for Atria. They do not have any medical staff to handle wound care or an assessment for falls. So they call 9-1-1 and the fire department shows up. If you agree to send them in an ambulance, that works, but no injury has them putting them back in bed or in a chair. They allowed hospital beds but with only short rails. This did not help with my mother's safety. She wanted to go back to take a nap after breakfast and/or lunch but they couldn't watch her, so they left her in a wheelchair all day. She was able to walk but needed assistance to prevent falls. When I finally called for Hospice to help, they showed me where Atria couldn't help with Safety and Medical issues. Hospice was wonderful (ANX) and I was looking for a better place and found a couple with their help. I feel the staff there is friendly and helpful but cannot fix the safety and medical issues. They usually have 3 staffers at all time but isn't always enough to address issues.

There a few negatives but they are pretty inconsequential. If something needs fixing you have to follow-up again with management before it is done. The food is ok/good not great. (However, my sister likes it) The great things about Atria Golden Creek is the staff. Everyone is friendly and kind. The staff call each resident by name and always give out warm greetings. Fortunately, most people who live there are friendly and welcoming. There are many activities and events that the social director, [Name Removed] is responsible for planning. There is a great mix of activities such as exercise class, excursions, art projects, talks, social hours and community meetings. There's lots of music and singing! I love the Ambassador program that selects current residents to welcome new residents to show them around and make them feel more comfortable in their new environment!

The moment that made the biggest impression was, the happiness expressed by every resident and employee we came across. We toured a few times and it was always filled with smiles. I would advice another family to do it. For as far back as I can remember, My mom has never been so happy.

Seems like a wonderful place for active seniors and seniors needing some assistance. My father requires quite a bit of assistance which is difficult at times. They have pretty strict requirements as to what their residents must be able to do on their own or with limited assistance

We were greeted by Dorine and she spoke with us prior to lunch. Lunch was very good and we met a very pleasant resident. After, the prospective resident toured the facility and liked it a lot. We then met with Dorine, Alyssa and Melissa. It was a nice visit.

Food is good, staff is very nice, very clean. We have a good sized 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, living room, small kitchenette apartment. There are only a few of these. We are switching to an apartment with a patio that opened up. Some of the apartments require using stairs or a ramp to get to the main floor. One reason we are moving to a different apartment is to avoid that.

[name removed] showed me the facility and explained the necessary facts about Atria. Answered all my questions. My major negative respect was the location. Too noisy between the street and the playground from the school.

The facility was very nice, however the decor was too dark for my liking and could use a little updating. The activities seemed to be in line with other like facilities. All the residents and employees were very friendly.

All the staff is very friendly! Food is ok. Not great or fabulous, but ok. Parking is quite difficult much of the time. Not enough guest parking most of the time which is tough!! ?? His 1 bedroom is adequate for his needs.

My daughter and son-in-law took a tour with [name removed] over at Atria. We’ve been very impressed with the professionalism and communications we’ve had with [name removed]. We are still making some decisions regarding my brother-in-law, but will definitely keep Atria in mind as his physical health become stronger and hopefully he can become more independent. Thank you so much, [name removed].

The place is very nice and clean and the employees seemed nice. The property is too spread out but I will be on the main floor.

The care givers are very nice and professional. The Life Guidance director is helpful and knowledgeable. They've helped my mom adjust quickly to her new surroundings. The only reason to give it a 4 is the feedback my mom has given on the food. She says it's ok, not great.

Atria served us quite well somewhat surprisingly. Pricing was incredibly good, the staff was nice, especially [name removed] the sales rep and upper management. Some of the caregivers were better than others and the food was just so so but overall very good from a value perspective.

The staff at Atria Palm Desert are cheerful and friendly with the residents and visitors alike. Follow through on providing for the ever changing needs of the residents is sometimes lacking. Must follow up with staff to ensure implementation of strategies to assist residents.

They are very accommodating. My Dad had some unique requirements/constraints that not every facility could accommodate. We were blessed they were able to have a space for my Dad. The place has a great family vibe, people seem happy there. It really is a senior LIVING community, not an "old folks home".

My friend loves the activities including the movies and lectures. People are very friendly and she's made nice friends. She also loves that it is near town and the daily light cleaning. She feels the food needs improvement. She is gluten intolerant and she can't get a gluten free meal most of the time. I am wondering why that should be a problem when so many people have this issue. They bread a lot of the food and she vomits quite often because of that. They also put pepper in food and she is allergic to that.
