My Mom has not been here long, but so far everything has been great. It's a nice looking community, very clean. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the care seems very good. The place has a very good reputation, and from what we have seen so far it is well deserved, we're very happy with it.

This is the community we eventually selected for Mom, and she seems to really be enjoying it. Mom is really over the moon about the food, I have tried it myself, and it is delicious! We also like the size of the community, big enough to feel busy, but not overwhelmingly large like some that we visited. There have been a occasional issues with shortages on certain minor comfort items, but other than that I really have no complaints!

We liked what we saw of this community. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the staff during the tour were helpful and friendly. We also like the layout of the community, and the amenities provided. They have plenty of activities, and although Mom is not much a social person, she is starting to get involved with some of them. Mom has had some complaints about the food, but nothing major.

Our family has had an incredibly wonderful experience at Marland Place for over 3 years. When we were faced with the task of moving my Mom to Asst Living we looked at Marland Place and several others in this area. We had heard descriptions of Marland Place from several trusted friends and it had a reputation as warm, caring and an excellent community. Well our expectations were not only met but having been there three years and now about to leave due to declining health, incredibly exceeded. What we learned over these years is that the historic and cheerful feeling of Marland Place is not in the brick but is in the staff. The "front desk " staff sets the tone with personal, knowledgeable greetings and assistance. Mary M embodies the face and heart of the community as all those who are at the front desk. They are the beginning of working with assistants , nurses, building and culinary staff who are just exceptional. By exceptional we mean staff who care about your family member and who in tern become family to you. Over the years the relationship that developed between the staff and our family is very heart warming. My Mother's care there, returning from the hospital, VNA , activities, hair dressing, the dining room and the administrative offices were a treasure to her and our family. We will miss all there and hope you have such a wonderfully comforting experience as we have had. ( I fondly remember sitting and singing with the staff and residents and looking around and thinking - we are so glad she was here.) The day to day staff is exceptional ( aides) and that is what you want, need and are so appreciative of). We knew others were caring for my Mom as we would ourselves. We will miss them and thank them for the care they gave to our Mother and our Family.

My father-in-law has been a resident of Marland Place since Aug. of 2012. He is 98 years old and absolutely loves the Social Life that he has found at Marland Place. He moved into Marland Place with his wife of 4 years, but when she injured herself in a fall in April, she moved to a Nursing Home. Marland Place has been very caring and accommodating to my father-in-law by transporting him to and from the nursing home 5 days a week. He visits her just about every morning and fills his afternoons with social activities. He constantly tells us that he could never have found a better place.

My mother moved here from another facility. She is thriving. The activities and exercises are stimulating. The other residents are friendly and the staff is caring.

My parents are Orthodox Jews and mostly everyone here is Jewish, and this is the only Kosher place around. It's the nicest place, it's beautiful. They know you by name, the staff is fantastic there. They greet you and know everything about what's going on. They doctors, nurses and a Rabbi on staff and it's really good for those who are coming from surgery, so they have someone keeping an eye on him constantly. They provide car service for Dr. appointments, we can all go with them to the doctor and they will come pick you up too. Every friday and saturday they have religious services and they take them on trips. They are very accommodating and go out of their way to see that you succeed and will call the kids and invite them to activities to keep the family and the residents engaged. They will come and check on you if you don't come to lunch or something. Everyone is positive and smiling and the smallness of it is great it's very initimate. We get monthly and daily calendars and they encourage them to do stuff.

Mom is happy here so far! The staff has been extremely friendly, and very warm and welcoming. They're on top of everything they need to be to keep the residents safe and happy, which is a big plus for me. Mom is also very happy with the food. I recently attended a holiday event and was impressed with the food as well. The activities are very good, but they could use a few more social hour type events, with differing schedules, for those that keep slightly odd hours.

As a PhD student studying emotion regulation and well-being in old age, I approached the activity coordinator at this property to ask whether I could conduct a study in collaboration with this facility. The response I received was incredibly encouraging, helpful, and professional, demonstrating a true passion for providing resources and educational opportunities for residents (I promised to give a lecture about my research) as well as supporting efforts in the broader community to further understand well-being in old age. It was a pleasure to work with the staff and everyone I interacted with was extremely helpful. Numerous residents expressed interest in participating in my research, and their insights on the psychology of aging were very astute and their attitudes were extremely uplifting. I had the honor of presenting my findings to the residents after I had finished collecting data at a number of senior centers and independent living communities (all results were anonymous, de-identified, quantitative, and presented in averaged form). The comments and feedback I received during the talk were among the most insightful I received at any of the 5 talks I have given on the topic elsewhere, leading to new potential research directions. It was a joy to work with everyone at this vibrant and thriving community.

I am currently a volunteer at Atria and I have no negative comments. I am one hundred percent pleased with this facility. The staff are outstanding and extremely polite. I am always greeted with a smile and a warming hello. The ladies who manage the front desk are always a pleasure to interact with. They are all kind hearted and extremely helpful if I ever need anything. Overall this is a well organized, clean, and well operated facility. I am glad to be a volunteer here.

Toured this place for my parents who are currently living in Connecticut. I thought this was a great building with great amenities. My parents would be able to have access to the great offerings of NYC and have a thriving community within the building. Food looked great and everyone raved about their daily activities.

My grandmother lives here and loves it. There's great food, activities, and staff!

For the past several years, my piano class has had the pleasure of performing a holiday recital for the Briarcliff Atria residents. This is a beautiful residence with a wonderful community outreach program. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and caring. They create a warm, bright, and cheerful atmosphere both for the residents and the visitors.

They really do seem wonderful. It's just that my mother just lost her husband so we didn't want her to lose both husband and home at the same time so we chose to go with a live in caregiver. We looked a the Alzheimer's wing and it just really seemed to be a great program. Those that want to be busy were busy all day with activities and games. They don't just sit them in front of a TV. If they want someone will take them up to the exercise room or group activities. Twice a week they go to happy hour. The residents do have the option to stay in their room. The staff doesn't force them to get involved but they really do encourage them. The other big thing was they allowed the residents to have animals as long as they are able to take care of them which is a huge thing because my mom would have been able to keep her cat as long as she or a family member could take care of it.

Over the past several months I have had the privilege of assisting Julie Vedovino by making several presentations to the residents and then teaching a weekly Seated Tai Chi for Mobility Impaired Adults class. The support from the staff has been excellent. My view of the programs offered are that they are very varied and manage to help keep the residents interested in the greater world and motivated. The facilities are attractive comfortable and flexible enough for the attendees in my activities to actively participate and hear what I am saying.

I had the pleasure of visiting Atria to do a presentation for the residents on hearing and hearing loss. What a great experience...from the moment I spoke with the engage Life Director I knew it would be. Your first impression is how beautiful the facility is. I had a great turn out for my lecture and the attendees were so warm, welcoming and very interested in learning and expanding their horizons. Truly a gem!

I have had the pleasure of visiting one of your residents often. Each time I am impressed with the cleanliness and friendliness of all who work there. Janis Knorr was always there to great me and always knew where the resident was.

I run a military charity called Heroes in Transition, Inc. Jan Knorr the faculty manager was kind enough to to invite me to speak to the residents. I was immediately impressed as soon as I walked through the front door. I was given a full tour of the facility. The facility was clean and very spacious. The staff were friendly and seemed to really enjoy interacting with the residents. They had a calendar full of fun events and things for the residents to do. One new staff member even went out of her way to pull Jan aside and tell her how much she loves her new job at Atria. Meeting the staff and residents was truly a great experience! I would highly recommend Atria to anyone whom is looking for a assisted living facility for themselves or for their loved ones.

My father is a 93 year old resident of the Braircliff Manor Atria Community for two years now. He was a fiercely independent man who lived alone after the death of his wife (my mother)a decade ago. The transition was not an easy one for him considering his basic personality- but now that he has acclimated to the routine, he is very appreciative of the warm and friendly staff and seamless care provided to him. The meals are quite varied and creative- the chef is always trying out new fare to keep it interesting. The staff is professional, well trained and very caring in a sincere way. Now that the community has installed a full-facility independent backup generator we are sure that he will be safe, happy, well fed and secure- no matter what else is going on. As a family, we could not ask for a better Community and we sleep very well at night knowing that he has all the support and all the backup he need. We would recommend the Briarcliff Atria community without hesitation.

Atria at 86th street in NYC has enjoyable and age appropriate cultural activities- especially the music/ concerts, seasonal American and Jewish holiday special events, and other entertainment programs. When I visit my relative at Atria, she and many other residents really seem to be enjoying the activities. I feel good knowing that she is in a caring and safe environment with opportunities to interact with others and participate in a variety of programs.
