American House

My mom was sick and she was treated very well over there. I like the facility - only one floor, easy to go around from room to dining room and some other areas. My mom could go with a wheelchair to dining area by herself. My mom room was comfortable. Administrative staff and medical team was friendly. Food was good

They are friendly and seem to know all the residents by name.

The staff seems to be very concerned about the people in their care and about the families that come to visit. The facility is extremely clean and they offer many many different activities for their residents. The fact that [name removed] could take her cat there one of the really exciting factors. The only thing that I have been disappointed in is getting papers completed for [name removed] long-term care policy by administration.

We have had a positive experience with American House -Bartlett, though we haven't actually been able to move my son's father in yet. He is still in rehab facility due to set backs in his recovery. The nurse at American House met with the social worker at the rehab yesterday and when I talked with the nurse afterwards, she told me he will be moving in 2 weeks. I have been very impressed with the friendliness of the staff whenever my son and I are there. We were there originally to tour and later to sign the papers. We have since gone twice to start setting his room up and bring some of his clothes and everyone we see talks to us and seem glad to see us. The building is very nice. Two things that stood out to me about it are the rocking chairs out front and the dining room. I think the rocking chairs give the residents the feeling of being at home as opposed to a facility. The dining room has large windows letting everyone see out .

They called to let me know they had a perfect apartment for my mom. They were very accommodating. Her apartment had a tub shower that would have been a deal breaker. My mom was not able to lift her legs over the tub, so they cut out part of the side to make it a walk in. Everyone was super nice. I think my mom would have loved her place. Unfortunately my mom got ill and went down hill very quickly and passed away. She never got to see her new apartment after we moved in her things and got it all ready for her. They went above and beyond to help make it perfect for her. I would highly recommend American House Southgate.

When looking for a place for my mom it was very important to me that the residents and staff all seemed happy. Usually when staff and residents seem content and upbeat they are getting good care. This is exactly the way it is at The American House. We are so happy that’s where my mom is getting wonderful care.

The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They never make you feel like you are bothering them. My mom feels so comfortable with all, especially [name removed] who is the director. My mom is in a 1 1/2 bath apartment and it is the perfect size for her and what she needs!

It definitely is a community where the staff care about the people. They know the people who come visit. They are so good to my parents and they go the extra mile to make sure the residents are ok. Only flaw is maintenance, not timely in fixes. Food could be better too. Also healthier. Shouldn't offer dessert so much.

Friendliness of the staff, residents and the quality of food are the biggest likes. For improvements I'd suggest getting rid of the carpet in the hallways. Will catch a whiff of urine every now and then. I'm sure it's just from past accidents by residents but it stays in the carpet even if they clean it.

Everyone was friendly and helpful to each other. The food was very good and affordable to guests. My father loved when I joined him for a meal. And he loved the food, tasty and good variety. He loved the music entertainment that was provided.

The overall experience is great and the cleanliness is very good. Everyone is extremely friendly- like a family. We watch out for each other. Independent living- if you need extra care they'll help you find it - in other buildings. The staff are Very helpful and we have an excellent chef. If you're bored, it's your own fault. Plenty to do. The value for cost is most reasonable for the area. More bang for your buck! I live in an apartment in the lodge. There are villas and cottages here. The people living in them may have different opinions

The activities are fabulous. There is never a dull moment and something fantastic to attend daily. Musicians come in once or twice a week and once a month there is a full on party with entertainment in the main lobby. The staff gets to know the residents well and attends to their anticipated needs . I have been cognizant of tasks that I can take care of, and relieve staff of unnecessary things that may take more time than I thought like contacting the house doctors or relaying info and /or resolving small issues. We are extremely satisfied and happy we moved my mom here!

Some comments about AH Village at Bloomfield. Staff very helpful. Facility is clean, new, and up to date. Rooms are a comfortable size. Residents are friendly and welcoming.

The staff was fantastic, meals were good, and the place was kept very clean. Highly recommend!!! Not overly impressed with 3rd party med administration.

The first thing I noticed at my first visit was the cleanliness and the smell. There were no odors. Every time I go back to visit , it is the same. Clean and odorless. There's always activities going on . Everyone is responsive and attentive to my grandfathers needs . It's a very intimate setting , not over capacity at all. Very cozy and home like . I trust every day that my grandfather is clean, safe and secure .

American House is a wonderful place for senior citizens . Clean n very well equipped n organized facility. Which speaks n shows first hand staff are doing a great job taking care of its residents n residence . I saw first hand how they each interact with residents

We love that it's small, she can find her way easily around the facility. Love that it has an enclosed courtyard where she is safe to walk her dog Sparky. The staff is friendly and attentive. They have made an effort to get to know the family. The dining room is lovely. There are activities regularly if she wishes to participate. It is perfect for where my mom is in this stage of her life.

5 across the board for all. Everyone is easy going but very professional. Everyone seems happy to be there and what they do. Yes, I would recommend this community to other families and already have.

The administrative staff makes an effort to get to know the residents.[name removed] the Life Enrichment Director is wonderful and very caring. She goes above and beyond with events and getting to know the residents. The facilities and levels of care are top notch. My mom likes the soups but complains about some of the entrees. There are a variety of entrees to choose from. She has a fridge and [name removed] in her apartment which is great for snacks and light meals. My mom doesn't like bingo and playing on the Wi but she does enjoy playing Bridge with a small group on Thursdays. The outdoor area by the pool is nice to enjoy outdoor time. The Physical and Occupational Therapists are great. The med techs who distribute the medication are nice. The aides not as nice and my mom gets frustrated with them because they forget to make her bed, "just so". Overall, I've been very pleased with the care provided at American House.

Nicely appointed and clean facility. Good dining menu. Excellent medical support. Friendly caregivers albeit a little slow in response at times. Good entertainment and activities available
