American House

The staff is generally helpful. I think it's been difficult for them with staffing shortages. For example, dinner is often just sent to the residents' rooms, so they're missing out on that social interaction. Aside from lunch and some activities that are presented, there's not other structured interaction. As far as value, when I compare it to other facilities, it's not that expensive. But when you take into account you're basically paying for meals and activities, to me it's a little bit expensive. So I guess all in all, their prices are reasonable compared to other facilities that are like them. I do like the fact that American House is smaller. The buildings are not that big, so it 's easier to get around to the dining area and other areas that are within your building.

So far everything at American House has been good, including the care they provide to our family member.

The people there are extremely friendly since our loved one has moved in - we thought she would have a had to accepting the move but she has settled in very nicely and adjusting well. The place is always very clean and the food is really good. We have already recommend this community to other families and we will continue to do so based on our experience so far.

American House ended up not being the ideal placement for my client. He often complained about unresponsive staff and attitude of staff. He ended up being transferred to a skilled nursing facility, had multiple admissions to the hospital, and ended up passing away just before Christmas. This patient absolutely refused to be admitted to a skilled nursing facility from acute rehab and American House would have been an ideal setting if he were more self motivated to improve. I would definitely use them again. The auto insurer was also very happy with the rates and services.

So far it has been a very good experience. If there is any negative at all, it is on the part of my loved ones with dementia. But it has nothing to do with American House Westland Hunter. Right from the start when we went to investigate different places, we got a good feeling about American House. The residents looked very happy, and it was a very welcoming place. The staff have been very accommodating since we've moved in. The apartment is small but very nice. It was clean and ready for us, and they made a few little repairs/ tweaks that needed done. I think the layout is very nice. We were little disappointed that our loved ones didn't get to see the doctor/nurse practitioner right away upon move-in, but they were able to do so a couple of weeks in. It also would have been nice if they had a cart/etc. up front to help with moving in or carrying heavy items. But it has been a good experience overall - we've been very pleased!

This was too expensive for us.

We had a good tour at American House Johnson City. The person who led the tour was super nice. We chose a newer facility that had a more bright and cheery atmosphere.

The staff has been great. They are very friendly and helpful. The only surprise to me was that when I thought of assisted living I thought they would assist my loved one more on things she is un-willing to do. Such as laundry, bathing, etc. Other than that misconception, things are going well and I would recommend American House Jenison to others.

The staff are extremely nice, including kitchen. They could improve on timing as far as maintenance. We've nana asking for fixes on 2 items since she moved in and they haven't done either of them yet. My mom is happy there!

I visited anthology looking at a place for my husband and it truly is a nice facility. The amenities are good and meet the need of what he likes to do. The fitness room was a feature that he would utilize the most. I could tell the community as a whole looks like it is kept clean. The apartments were a decent size too.

The community seemed good, but they didn't have space for my loved one so I didn't put too much thought into it.

Our family had an in person tour, and it was a nice community and a nice tour experience.

When we first came to American House we had such a positive first impression, the community is very clean and very well organized. We are very thrilled with everything but just like everyone else they are struggling with staffing - the reason why activities gets a lower score is because they are having keeping an activities coordinator/director. The book keeping process is having a little trouble also but that is on the management side of things and the most important thing to us is the care and we are happy with it.

This was a beautiful community and this was our second choice. This was bigger than we wanted for our loved one.

This has been a pleasant experience. The staff are helpful and my loved ones are happy here for the most part. The staff communication with the family has been very good. There are three meals severed a day and the residents have choices to choose from. There are movie nights, games, and more for the residents to participate in for activities.

My mom says she would rate the food at a 3. I haven't eaten it, but will say it always looks good. I can't rate the activities as she refuses to participate.

Freedom Place was very nice but the location was not convenient. The surrounding area is industrial.

Assisted living was absolutely fantastic - the apartment was lovely. The facility is very clean, and the food is good. There is plenty of entertainment/activities if you choose to participate. They have wonderful physical therapy through Legacy - they are fantastic. But I ended up having to move my dad to the memory care unit, which has taken some getting used to. They're kind of lackadaisical about things coming up missing. Continuity of care is lacking a bit due to staff turnover. I feel like I'm constantly training new staff to my father's needs. Because he's mobile and walks into the bathroom, they forget that he's incontinent and needs changing, and he has developed skin problems because of it.
