American House

American House Lakeshore is a good place for me. I've been here 2 weeks, and I'm getting used to living with old people exclusively. I miss my old friends very much! That is very difficult to accept! If only they were close enough for me to drive there and back in a day! They are not equipped to take a trip here and back in one day either. We do talk on the phone, but.........that's not the same. The main reason I moved here is that I needed to be closer to my children at my age. They have been "dropping in" often so I am happy to see them --always! I'm making new friends which is good, but, on the other hand I'm eating too much which isn't good! Hopefully I'll continue to adjust and make this place seem like "home."

The community has activities to engage the residents. Some of the activities include movies and more. There are three meals available for the residents. The residents have a choice to eat in the dining room, or to enjoy the meals in their room. There is a refrigerator available to place snacks in it for my loved one. This is in a nice area, with a nice courtyard for the residents to enjoy when the weather is nice. There is a transport bus available for the residents to use for appointments. There are additional services that are able to be added on, such as medication management. We were told that the start up fee would go with my loved one, if they had to move communities to provide further care among American House. This appears to be a safe environment, and this is important for the family.

Our overall experience has been good with just a few adjustment items. Mount Prospect is a very clean community and the staff members have been wonderful. There are very friendly and very helpful. When it comes to the care, ore of the time it is very good. For the meals - they serve good food and offer nice choices. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend Mount Prospect Senior Living to other families.

For my Mom, the outside area of the community as well as the lack of independent living options drove us to make a chance. Overall we were happy with the short term respite care, but you could see right upfront the struggle they had to get the medication processes correct.

We toured American House East I and the tour was pleasant. We thought the facility was good. This facility was one of our top choices. The cleanliness and friendliness were good, also!

American House has been good to us. They've really gone out of their way to help my mom, who can be fairly difficult to deal with. They're currently renovating the facility.

They have nice clean rooms. The building is modern and updated. They have a lobby, library, sitting area, etc that is nicely furnished. Excellent nurse. High turn over in staff. They don't return phone calls or reply to emails. Some front staff are poorly trained and not able to get answers they don't know. We picked this community, because it's close to friends and to Coconut mall. Nice amanaties and clean.

Its a good value for the money. They keep it cleaned and residents stay clean. The best thing about it, is the feeling of independence for the residents.

American House Sarasota is a nice environment with friendly people. They are struggling with organization to some extent and I think that comes from missing support staff.

The staff are friendly and helpful and try to meet the residents needs. But as with all places they are occasionally understaffed and it is good to have a friend or family stop by on a regular basis. I would recommend American House Lebanon to others.

The dining experience is definitely not what it is advertised to be. It is survivable, but no way restaurant quality every day. Now every once in awhile, they all star it out of the ballpark. Basically, special meals and Sunday dinners. Many times veggies are over cooked!!!! Tooo many carrots. The Mac n cheese is the worst. Gritty. Not creamy at all. Cooked in a hurry, not enough hot liquid to melt the powder cheese. Too many carbs served at one meal!! No peas in the tuna casserole, sweet n sour chicken served like no restaurant serves it. Now, the people are great!!! The hours just seem to too close together. But Livable if you don't have any plans. Would I do it again? YES!!!

They're very good during the week. During evenings and weekends, the staff gets cut way down (likely a factor of the economy) and it's harder to get things done. If you can actually through to somebody, they do answer questions. Overall, it's a good place for a family member. It's a bit more on the expensive side. But it's very clean and well thought out.

What we really like about American House is the staff team and their communication. We appreciate the accessibility to get in touch with them as needed whether that is day or night.

There is lots of fun activities for the residents to participate in. They have a pool and that was a big thing for my mom as well, being able to go on her own. From my standpoint those are the things I hear her mention the most about American House. I would recommend this facility to others.

American House Bonita Springs has been great so far for our loved one. She was able to have an apartment with a white kitchen that is modern and also has a screened in porch which was most important. She is able to get her hair done every week, the value overall is a really good and we would recommend this community to other families. However the meals are not good, they started our great, but now have gone downhill so that could be improved.

I toured this facility and liked it. Clean, friendly, really nice rooms. I liked it, but it was a little bit too far out of our budget.

The caregivers were wonderful but head office staff were not compassionate or capable for position. The caregivers and housekeepers were exceptional to patients and families. Everything but staffing and front office staff were great.

I toured this community and it was very good!

The community is newer and it had very high ceilings and there didn't appear to be enough natural light. The studios apartments felt out of proportions due to high ceilings in a square room.

We've had a pretty good experience overall at American House Fort Meyers. It has been a fairly smooth process for our family. The people there are friendly, and they try their best. My main concern is I don't think there are enough activities. But it has been good overall.
