American House

This seemed more like a resort hotel that provides medical care. Some of the other places seemed like a place someone went to die. I have recommended A Place for Mom already to people looking for assisted living. It was a great to have someone do the leg work.

My Mother is 99 years old and had always resided in her own home. Needless to say, moving into the Memory Care unit was a big transition for her….and us. We searched for a place that would keep her safe, clean, and loved. After doing an extensive search of Memory Care centers, we found American House to be the best for us. Staff has taken a personal interest in helping Mother transition to her new home. [name removed],, the Memory Care manager, has his office right in the middle of the unit and therefore is a clear presence on the floor. Whenever we have a question, he cheerfully finds the answer. He pays attention to both the mental and physical needs of the residents. Since she arrived, Mother has been provided physical therapy which reduces her chance of a fall. We highly recommend American House as a place that takes care and loves their residents.

The staff is super friendly and helpful at American House Lakeshore. The housekeeping is a little bit slack, but they do thoroughly clean the hard surfaces and carpet, bathrooms and sink area in kitchen. Window blinds are dusted, but not furniture for fear of breakage of personal items. The move-in process was easily managed by my family and a few hirees. The meals are generally very good with several choices for each meal. There is a nice variety of meals and choices. Since this facility is listed as Independent Living, the one disappointment I had is the use of the majority of residence of walkers and wheelchairs. Overall, I would highly recommend this facility to others. The view of Lake Saint Clair on the third floor sold it to me.

American House is great!! We picked this community, because of the location, friendliness of the people, menu looked great and food is good! Lots of activities. The cost for what my firend is getting is good.

I've had different friends/relatives at 9 various Assisted Living facilities in Tri Cities: American House is the very best of those. Their rooms are bright, laid out well; the food is better than most places, there are several activities most days and multiple places to enjoy Outdoors. The best feature is their STAFF the nurses, CNAs and RAs are patient, caring, kind, enthusiastic -> the best overall group of ANY facility I've ever seen! *HOWEVER * American House suffers from lack of staff: missing 1 to 2 people every shift, in every position. Current staff are covering marvelously-but canNOT keep up! American House must Hire and Retain good help (-Pay Better!) Lack of staff has made them late with meals, showers, not answer their phone, late helping with personal grooming, unable to Interact in Genuine Kindness (ie take 2min to work a puzzle or watch a bird with a resident-the important moments for your loved one.)

[removed] was horrible. American House itself was fine, [removed], the company they have there is horrible. My mom was there for hospice care and we were extremely upset with [removed]. The team at American House was very helpful and friendly. I am not sure why they allow [removed] to be a part of their organization

The tour of American House Jenison was nice. The only drawback was my loved one really didn't like that only two meals were server daily. So, we decided to go with another community.

The staff is friendly and available. There appears to be very little turnover, which is refreshing. Showers, laundry and housekeeping is done on a consistent schedule. The facility is clean and nice looking. The staff has some gems. There isn't anyone I would say that is unhelpful. The Activities Director has something planned daily and they do a good job including everyone. The food is plentiful and looks delicious. I would recommend that families at least visit this facility. Everyone has different needs, but we are pleased that we moved mom here.

There is no complaints about the food, and it looks good. We picked this community, because we needed another facility, and this was the only choice. A rep from A Place for Mom, came to our house and provided this option. We liked what we saw at American House. They keep my loved one dressed, clean, and well fed. I would recommend to other families.

Our family has had a good experience with assisted living at American House Johnson City. The facility is nice. And the staff are friendly and helpful.

Our experience at American House Hendersonville was pretty good for the most part. The Administrator and Head Nurse are very attentive, caring, pleasant and helpful. Housekeeping and assisting aides and some nursing staff not so much but sure that's pretty much normal for most facilities. I felt they were somewhat lax in assuring residents took all their meds as when emptying her room when she passed last September we found a good deal of pulls she had not taken.

The facility is clean, nicely decorated, and the memory care unit is a secure wing within a larger secure facility. Very friendly staff.

We picked this community, because it was close to my home and had better ratings than others in the area. Also cost was a factor. My loved one likes it there and has made friends. Sometimes she's not happy with some of the meals, and would like a few more options. I would recommend this place to friends.

We picked this community, because of the location and I like what they had to offer and like kindness of people showing the place. They were able to get a room to share with somebody else it was important for him to live with somebody else not by himself.

It's a quiet community, and I picked it because it had a villa available. I like that the villas have no steps. The communication with the staff is okay. I would recommend this place. In fact I have told several persons about it.

We picked this community, because of the closeness to my home. A new wing was opened up that was more affordable- that's about itIt's a good place for my father. I would recommend to other families.

I toured with American House Brentwood and I found the facility to just be "okay". I did notice that this facility was a lot higher priced than some of the other facilities we were considering at the time.

You should warn families that the apartments do not have air conditioning for the warmer weather and that there are no backup generators to power the apartments for the occasional power failures. The nursing staff is very nice and families should be warned that the nursing agency tries to bill in advance for services and I've never heard of any medical service or company billing in advance for services they have not yet rendered. If I had to chose over again I would not select American House Livonia for my mother. I chose American House because I was in a bind and had to make a hasty decision with the quickness.

The staff is very friendly and helpful, they have a good assortment of activities for independent living residents. They could improve on the meals and dining by having more consistency with the process of ordering meals, they change it quite often as to when to pick up and getting it right. I would recommend American House Cedarlake to others looking for retirement living.

Each apartment has a patio or a balcony. Residents are very friendly. We consider all the residents as family. The life enrichment director keeps us entertained and happy. Nice place with nice residents as well as employees.
