American House

We toured with American House Livonia and it was not very clean - there were a couple things my loved one and I had pointed out that we noticed. It was also quite expensive.

They have a very friendly staff and lots of medical services. The rooms are really nice. I was pleasantly surprised that the food is pretty good. Everything is prepared fresh. Occasionally there's something my parents don't like, but here are lots of choices at every meal. My parents haven't really found activities they're interested in yet, except for Wednesday and Friday happy hours with live music that are phenomenal.

They do a good job. They lack, sometimes, with communication.

I toured American House Bartlett; it was neat and modern. I really didn't have any experience with them before, so those were the first things I noticed compared to other communities. We chose another community because it fit into our budget a little better.

My mom is adjusting and doing well so far at American House Freedom Place. The facility is very clean and the staff seemed to be organized. My mom is much more active than she was before which we are happy about. We are overall pleased with the experience and happy with the care that she is receiving here, I leave knowing that she is in good hands. I would recommend American House to others looking.

The location of this community is really convenient for our family. The care services have been so far so good, we have not had a meal there ourselves or really experience the dining hall but our loved one has not complained about the meals so we assume they are good. Based on our experience so far we would recommend the American House community to other families.

I was very pleased with American House Assisted Living. Beautiful living space, options for all types of activities catering to needs of the residents. The dining room is beautiful and spaced well for those with walkers or wheelchairs. Food is actually really good. The chef and kitchen staff understand the limitations/requirements seniors may have with diet, chewing, or the applicable amount of food presented. A very pleasant environment and seating space. The times for each meal service are static, however the resident has the option to eat anytime between those hours. The cost was appropriate to market value for the area. For what American House has to offer it's residents including the apartment it was a win-win.

I toured American House Hendersonville, the person who gave me the tour was wonderful. He answered all of my questions; it was my first tour so I didn't know what to expect and he made it a very easy process. I chose another community because with good recommendations, they had just been bought out. It looked like it needed a little work, but they were getting ready to do renovations. It was also closer to my house and they had a private room available with limited time.

They could work to improve on the food, the security of the building as well as the lighting - after 6pm you have to use a key to get in but any other hours of the day you just push the handicapped button and you can get right in. However other than those improvements our loved one is extremely happy there and we would absolutely recommend this community to other families.

I am very pleased with the care my mom is receiving at American House East. The staff are very attentive to her and her needs. I would recommend them to others looking.

I think the staff are extremely engaged in the job they perform; I think they make the residents feel very welcomed. I also think they do their very best to provide a positive and nurturing atmosphere for residents. I do, however, have a few concerns. I am the sister of a resident; I don't have the POA to call and discuss my sisters care with them, as that comes from her children. There have been a few problems, one of which being the apartment that she lives in. It's lovely and she has a very small fridge which is more than adequate, but to my understanding, housekeeping has been asked to clean the fridge and it hasn't been done. My sister takes food back from meals and those tend to spoil, but they are not being thrown out by housekeeping. She doesn't have the sense(s) to throw it away herself and could potentially eat bad food. She has a poor sense of both smell & taste, and would not be aware that she's eating food that has gone bad. I have tried to resolve another situation with the American House manager twice, as this is an issue that effects me personally. They have a facial recognition check in system due to Covid where you stand in front of monitor, answer a few questions, and say what apartment you're going to. Twice now, someone has checked into American House using my name and information. I've been in the Detroit area, but received texts saying I've successfully checked in. This concerns me for two reasons: 1. someone is checking in using my identity, and twice I've been assured by staff that [name removed], the director would call me. It's been a month later and I've yet tor receive a call saying its been resolved. And 2. someone is checking in using my identity, which tells me that that person doesn't have an identity on file. How do I know that person should or shouldn't be there? How do I know my sister is indeed safe? I may be stretching with my thoughts, but what deeply concerns me is that I've called twice and [name removed] has not returned my calls. I know they are likely busy, but it's my identity that's being used and no one has contacted me. I believe that's my right to have that corrected. So I do feel that they've failed me ethically, as a family member and as visitor, by not reaching out to me to resolve this. Aside from that, I do think my sister is mostly safe there. She has the option to join in on many things if she chooses. The community also has options for different levels of care and assistance as time goes on. They're always doing fun activities, as seen on their Facebook page. Her apartment is lovey, the facility is lovely, and the staff are engaging. I cant find any faults in that regard. The costs for what she's getting is more than adequate, especially with the incredible cost of living we're experiencing right now.

It's a good place. They've got facilities for just about everything, depending on your relative's needs. My wife and I ready to move in! My sister-in-laws' apartment is pretty spacious. She's in a handicapped accessible space which has a patio. It's nice and I can't find anything I'd change about it. Overall I would recommend American House to others.

Overall I liked them very well. The facility was clean, and they had much bigger rooms than other places we toured. It was a bigger facility though, and therefore it would likely take longer for the staff to reach him if he needed assistance (based on where his room would have been located). I also wasn't a fan that they used subcontractors for aides. And with their charging system, you can only press the call button so many times at one price, and then it costs extra if you press the button additional times.

They seem to be doing a lot of stuff to improve the facility itself which is nice, but their response time to the resident who needs assistance could definitely be improved. They do seem to have a pretty good amount of activities going on and from what our loved one says the meals and dining service seems to be pretty god. The overall value for the money is really good as well.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a really nice tour experience

This is a nice community. They have great staff. It does take some time for the staff to get things done here; however, the communication is pretty good. The apartments have a kitchenette in them. The community does have a communal washers and dryers available for the residents to use.

My daughter (Florida resident) checked several senior independent living communities in the area and decided on American House (Wildwood) as the best for me. She made a good choice! I am very satisfied here - staff, food, environment, are all very good!

Everyone that works here are kind and exceptional. All residents that live here help each other.
