American House

We have been impressed by the care of the staff. They really just "love my mother" and let her know! The place is small enough that one does not feel as if one is in an institution. Any time there is a concern, we can call or stop by and talk to admin., who are very quick to address the issue. All of the staff do all of the work. I've seen the Executive Director, and the head of Nursing, serving meals and cleaning up!

I love the everyday care staff there– they are extremely friendly. They even facetime us when we can’t be there. The facility is very clean. I do think they need to improve on the security. Laundry needs improvements as well – all of our loved ones clothes are lost, even the ones that had a name on it. The 2 hour check-ins don’t always seem to happen as they should. " Overall we are pleased with the experience, there are just a few areas that need improvements.

American House, has monthly family night, so family and residents have a fun time to interact for the evening. My mother always has her nails painted now, they arrange flowers and do other activities. Her room is clean, they help her bathe and do her hair. She is well fed, food looks good. We did a planned visit and a couple surprise visits and it was a good experience whether they knew we were coming or not. What convinced us to choose American House was the level of activity, they try to engage the residents throughout the day. Friendly helpful staff, all staff even the ones in the offices, kitchen, maintenance, all know every resident by name and spend time getting to know them, clean, well decorated facility. Good food.

The American house staff was wonderful. Advisacare was awful. I wouldn't hire them to take care of my animals. They did not bring mom her meals several times. They do not respond to her call button, which they have everyone use for everything so they don't know what is an emergency and what's not. Once dad was on hospice they would peak at him from the doorway and wouldn't even check if he soiled himself. Dad passed on [date removed] and we moved mom to a smaller facility [date removed] where she can get proper care.

My mom was briefly a resident at American House Johnson City and she had a good experience at this facility. Everyone seemed pretty nice and the food wasn't bad. Based on our experience, I would recommend this facility to others.

I think it has been overall a good experience for my parents. They changed the food options and don't have a lot to choose from like they originally did. My dad has been struggling with the lack of options, but other than that I think they are doing well there. Good food is something elderly people look forward to, so since the change it's been a bit disappointing. They are well cared for.

We are using American House Bristol for Memory Care for our loved one, so activities are not that important. The facility is under staffed, especially on the MC side. House keeping on the assisted living side looks to be excellent, but on the MC side nominal. The MC side has its challenges due to the residents. I feel they are doing the best that they can with the staff they have, but could do better with more staff. With that said, not just anyone can or should work in memory care.

I have someone very special to me inside this building. He has made amazing progress since he’s been there. [name removed] was with him every step of the way and continues to do things for him every day. She is truly amazing.!!

My dad is currently a resident at American House Holland and the experience has been mostly good for him, so far. The facility is always very clean and I know that my dad is happy there. Everyone is very accommodating and helpful. However, I know there has been an issue with getting my dad's phone fixed and also getting his thermostat fixed. My sister is working on trying to reach someone to get these things taken care of. He can call out, but I can't reach him and he doesn't have a phone number. It's frustrating for me because I like to call him at least every other day.

The staff is very friendly, and they do the best they can… There's just never enough of them. My biggest complaint is the lack of activities.

Staff is friendly however, they seem understaffed a lot of times. There is plenty of room for improvement in the kitchen area and rent is kind of out pricing people, I know of several who are thinking about leaving.

We were pleased with the one on one help from staff members in placing [name removed] into a safe and caring environment. Memory care workers were attentive to his needs and made him feel welcome and part of the unit. His only complaint was too much rice and food wasn’t warm enough. We feel he will be able to return to his home with our help at present time as this is his desire. Should the need of facility return it will be appreciated the consideration of returning to AHM Thanks for everything. We are working with AHM and VA York Medical Center for release date

The move in process was extremely easy. The activities seemed very repetitive, but maybe that's the norm for a Memory Care Unit. I was happy with the staff, less happy about a lot of turnover, though I expect that's not uncommon. Management could do a better job of communicating those changes, as well as management personnel changes. Overall, I strongly recommend this facility.

They are very Friendly and if they can't answer a question for you , they will direct to the appropriate person. The Shared rooms ( two people)is very roomy as well as the single rooms.

The staff are all pretty friendly and helpful. Housekeeping does a good job keeping up on cleaning. The move in process was simple enough and my mom says that she likes the food. I would recommend this facility to others.

Overall, a clean, lovely, friendly place. In the memory care unit, a caregiver is not in the main room at all times.

The activities are amazing, but the food could really use some improvement.

The stairways aren't very attractive, the elevators could get cleaned more frequently. Most of the meals are very good. There are not a lot of activities in house. They have outings two days per week, plus church on Sundays. At American House, they put out a schedule once per month and put it on the door. There is a lot of space in the apartments. The cost for each level of care is a bit high.

The Town and Country Senior Living is a great facility. A bit pricey. The only complaint is lack of response to emergency call button.

The staff is so wonderful. They notice when a community member is not themselves! They are very friendly and so helpful. We are new to the area and they helped me find a dentist for my Dad. Helped get all paperwork in order for a doctor to come to my Dad instead of me having to miss work. They also helped get is cable set up
