We've had a very positive experience. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The building is kept immaculate. My mom says the food is just ok. The activities are good. They do a lot of family involvement events. She is in a one bedroom unit that is a good size.

Don't have any real contact with them my dad and his wife seem happy for the most part so I don't try to micromanage anything from about there living arrangement. Would recommend American House SHallowford to other families.

They are great about cleaning, they do my laundry but the food isn't that great.

New people come in and if they need help we have a medical staff that sticks with them when they need help. Also food servers are polite to everyone that is here. Outside we now have a walking trail and also activities every day. Dogs and cats are allowed .Rooms are cleaned every 2 weeks and laundry is picked up once a week, brought back the same day.

The young lady I met and toured with was so awesome , super nice , staff seemed friendly . The facility offer a lot of services which was good . It was just a little dark inside the facility , obviously this is something that the staff could not control so it’s not their fault at all overall still a really good place.

My wife is in the memory care unit. He was moved from the main area when she returned from hip surgery. I never felt that was a timely move when I compared her to others in the main floor. A umber where in wheel chairs and said very little. When we first started the facility director was only there for a little while then they had an interim director. When they hired the new director the interim director became the memory care director. Since he new director there seems to be a large turnover of staff. I know in the memory care there have been several new faces. The new director introduced herself via letter to families. I did meet with her ice when it was time for the hip surgery to make sure everything was ok to return. I m there five and six times a week as soon as I get off work or on the weekends. I ve had almost no interaction with the administrator since my meeting. As for other staff they are very personable and seem genuinely concerned for the well being of those there. My continuing frustration is dealing with the finances. This has been in going from the beginning. We were awarded a discount for three months the last being September. The last two times we were charged the full amount and they automatically withdrew from her account. Each time I would deal with it I was promised a phone call once it was figured out but never received one. This last time they took the full amount which caused my wife's checking account to be overdrawn. Meeting with the facility bookkeeper she agreed they took it out an said she would call. As of this writing still no call and that was on Tuesday. Clothing and linen are a on going problem. My daughter visited her tonight and all three sets of new towels and wash cloths are missing. Same problem with linens. I visited two days ago and there was feces on her sheets so I took them home to wash. This has happened numerous times. Her clothes, new sets have turned up missing o we see them on someone else. These are our biggest frustrations. There are more but this is enough for now. The additional fees they have charged us for memory care have not been worth it.

We are happy with our choice of this American House location. Most of the staff are good with my mom and make her feel important. Several of them have said they like this location best of any American House locations where they've worked. My mom is happy with the food. The activities director is very popular and the staff does their best to come up with nice and varied activities for the residents. The housekeeping staff does a great job. The maintenance guy is an institution and always there when you need him.

Overall experience has been good except like I mentioned the sign up move in process. Needs to have more communication. The staff has been good so far. My dad has accelerated dementia so he's not involved in many activities so I don't have a lot of knowledge on those but they do have them. I think a lot of the food looks good but my dad does not like it but he's kinda picky. The facility is very clean and they do a good job at cleaning the rooms. His room is a good size but some are smaller. I guess average size. Nice outdoor views. I will say the outdoor space is awesome. My dad loves to be outside so that is one reason I chose this facility. They have benches located all over and lots of sidewalks to stroll on. Beautiful grounds and quiet! So far that's what I see.

The staff have been great to work with and very accommodating. The care is through a company called Advisacare and they have been very good. They do have a higher turnover rate but once we get to know the daily caregivers they have helped us out and it runs smooth. We also pay for medication administration which is costly but worth it. They use a place called AMAC pharmacy and then Advisacare gives them their pills 2-3 times daily. With dementia you need to have this service to prevent them from missing doses or double dosing if my parents couldn't remember if they took their pills or not. Food is healthy and both of my parents really enjoy the food. The place is extremely clean!! They have weekly socials with entertainment and daily activities such as chair exercises, Sunday prayer services, etc. Apartment size is larger than most other places. They see deer right out their rear door.

The staff was fantastic, from the administration all the way for the care that they gave Mom was just great and fantastic. I would recommend anybody. The place was very clean and we are happy with everything there Apartment was fantastic 500 and some square feet. It was all mom and dad did it when they were there.

[name removed] has been a resident over 3 weeks now The staff has been professional and empathetic during this entire process. Support staff has been very welcoming. Facility as well as [name removed] studio is very clean & well maintained. Only concern to-date has been consistency of medication administration. I believe the med issue is resolved but [name removed] & I will continue to monitor the situation as his med timing is important.

It is cleaned often and trash collected daily. Several recent program changes and thus far things seem to be going well. As before, although the staff appears attentive on the whole, they are short staffed which does somewhat affect the services. Our program is new and they are adding staff. The food service also seems to be struggling to meet need for for service but they do make a real effort to do so. The menus could definitely use some improving but it sounds like they are seeking a new head cook. Need to increase the size of servings in some cases and add more fruits and vegetables.

We have no concerns so far. The staff has been very helpful and attentive. The apartment seems to be a good size. I would recommend to others.

She loves the apartment. The staff is helpful. Dining has been a challenge in relation to who sits where. Overall, I would recommend the community to others.

It was overall a good experience. The facility was nice and the staff was good. Mom was just beyond an assisted living facility.

There are more independent living residents than assisted living residents which gives the community a vibrant feel. Alcohol is permitted and even served. Residents are treated like adults. Very kind staff.

They were friendly and accommodating, but my family member never actually resided there because he had to have a catheter.

The staff was wonderful. Everyone that interacted with my Mom was patient and kind. Mom enjoyed most of their food. The cleaning staff was always visible in the facility when I was there and they did a great job cleaning. Her apartment was spacious with a large bathroom & 2 closets.

The care staff is generally very good but I have noticed at times they are clustered in a room together instead of with the residents. The room has windows so they can see out but they can't see everyone and a few times when I am there I've had to go into that room and told them a resident they couldn't see needed help. I don't think they should be all taking a break together. It is usually very clean and the apartment size is perfect. I would like to see them do a better job of keeping resident's sheets and clothes separate- my dad gets other resident's clothes, etc mixed up with his a lot and I've noticed several of his items are missing one week but back again the next - and it's not because they are doing laundry at that time because I've checked. I'd also like to see a little more attention to some things. For example, my dad drools and they told me to buy him wrist bands so he can wipe the drool from his mouth - but when I visit he never has the wrist bands on and the staff doesn't have the time to keep wiping his chin.

American House is a lovely facility. The memory care staff is a kind, caring, and well trained professional staff. My husband was there for a two week respite. I would highly recommend the memory care unit.
