American House

There needs to be better communication with residents and there is a lack of activities, but we do have a new activity director starting this week. Overall I would recommend this community to other families based on the experience I have had so far.

Advisor care in house not that great but will do. My mother in law was in rehab nursing homes all last year as my mom was after hospital visit then rehab for a month. Saw basically the care is same all over just not that good. Friend lives across the street just passed his wife said same thing she was in nursing for 40 years and said same thing, Hospital care nursing homes-assisted living are not that good.

What we like the most about American House Cedarlake is the location of the community as well as the staff who work there. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families

We’ve had an overall positive experience with American House Holland. The staff is always helpful and pleasant. They also helped us coordinate additional hospice care for our Aunt. There is some staff turnover, but that is to be expected. We did not rate the activities because my Aunt chooses not to participate in them, she prefers to spend the time in her room reading or watching TV.

It's not great. Communication is poor, but that may be true of many ALF's at this price point. Staff are superficially friendly, but it's hard to get anyone to address issues be that medication, health concerns, maintenance, etc.

American House Hampton Village is a friendly environment. The caregivers take care to meet the needs of the residents. The facility is clean and modern. Culinary services have improved 100% since American House took over. They understand the importance of good nutrition and mostly healthy choices. I have lived here for almost six years, under two previous ownerships, and appreciate the changes put into place, especially with culinary services. Weekly entertainment is also a favorite among residents, including myself. Hampton Village is worth a second look.

My parents liked the staff at American House very much, but said the food was terrible. I agree the staff are amazing. My Mom died suddenly, in the shower. The staff took care of my Dad until I arrived, and treated my Mom with a great deal of care and respect. Once her body was released by the coroner, they placed my Mom in her bed so my father could say goodbye to her. I was so touched by the care they showed. They made what was a terrible day more bearable. I am eternally grateful.

Most of our experiences have been very positive. We like the smaller familial atmosphere. Been very pleased with aides and staff - their care and interaction with my Dad has been great. My only concern/encouragement to American House would be lack of staffing….at times they are very thin and the response time to my Dad can be a little too long. I’ve been told there’s a State requirement for a certain number of aides per resident? Could use a little more Management personnel visible onsite. The food varies from day to day - some days good and other days not so good. They serve sandwiches a little too often. Would like to see more hot meals for residents.

I would highly recommend it. My mom needed around the clock assistance and help taking the right meds and the staff was efficient and professional in getting the job done right.

It has overall been a great experience for my loved one at American House Troy.

Good community to be involved in for the elderly. Staff is exceptionally friendly. Healthy environment mentally.

What we like the most about American House East is that they do a lot of stuff with the residents. I would say the food needs to be a upgrade. We would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

Friendly & helpful staff. Residents are welcoming & engaging. Physical building needs some work in some areas. It looks like they had a flood in one of the stairwells. Food taste is good. Activities my Mom is interested in and doing.

There have been a lot of changes due to change of ownership since dad moved in, but it seems that many changes are in response to feedback they've received from residents/families. It is nice to see that they take feedback to heart. All staff have made me feel that they genuinely care for dad and the other residents

You have such a great team, getting the food to higher quality would make all the difference. That was the ongoing complaint that I heard consistently.

I am disappointed in the price increase after the recent take over. No increase in services provided and less communication to families. Many key staff members have left.

Overall my mom is very happy at American House Somerset and has made a ton of friends. She also feels like the directors take her concerns seriously and do their best to address what is necessary :) She did say that the food is not often cooked correctly and they do not have as many choices as she would like.

Most all of the staff members are exceptional. The meals get that rating but it is showing improvement. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend American House to other families

I think they do a very good job there, and would recommend them to others.
