Very caring people at the facility. Caring staff and cleanliness of facility. The food is usually luke warm or cold, rarely is it hot.

I like that it's a smaller facility. And like every other facility because we were at [community name removed] . They all need better caregivers with better training

My father really enjoys living there but it is just too expensive for, what I assume to be, the majority of normal elderly people. I can't really comment on meals. Haven't heard much good or bad.

The staff is very friendly and the place is warm and welcoming. Feels like a place you want to live. Have had an issue with medical team not responding (twice). Best for I dependent living than those in that transition between independent and assisted living.

When I call about my Daddy with a concern they seem to get right on it. Yes, we would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far

They seem a bit overwhelmed at times. But very caring to our dad. Hospice staff wonderful too. [name removed] maintenance most helpful as well. My dad is not social which is a significant change in his personality.

American House is great for people who need level 1 care and are still pretty independent. American House also has a great memory care program. Level 2 or 3 care is where it is weakest. They have a lot of staff turnover and that causes lots of miscommunication, gaps in care, and difficulty working with patients who have dementia like my mom. If they don't know how she works best, it's a constant struggle. I live nearby and needed to be over there frequently to check that things were getting done. There was also a lot of administrative turnover and that is bad for staff.

When my wife needed 24/7 care and was no longer ambulatory American House Cottage Grosse Pointe provided her with the care she needed. Because of her condition she could not actively participate in group activities so I can’t comment further on that aspect but I did notice that many activities were offered. White my wife was somewhat isolated staff made frequent visits and checked on her comfort, hygiene and diaper changes and also communicated with her. I visited various times of the day and night and found the same level of care every time I was there. As a result I felt confident of the care she was receiving. I it was costly but I felt she was extremely well cared for. All staff were supportive and with loving care

The food is not very good. Try to be more accurate with the menu,be more diverse with the menu,when you ask for something like extra gravy or sauce you should expect it, but here it's hit or miss.cut down on the volume of chicken they serve,bigger portions if you ask for it. The staff are very helpful and that has been nice.

I think they are a Medicaid approved facility. That could be important if my aunt's funds run out.

We have been pretty happy for the most part. Staff has been friendly and nice facility.

The kitchen here varies so much on the rotation of servers. They range from terrible to great. The food is okay. Several of the servers have not been prepared for how hard it is to work with Seniors. They stand around texting while the experienced selves are overworked. The facility itself is very clean and repairs are done as las reported. I would point this out if prospective clients were to ask me. The administration usually are informative and available to talk to residents.

There seems to be a high turnover of staff so it's difficult to maintain a stable relationship with any of them as it relates to residents individual needs. Some (not all) staff ignore caring for bathroom reminders or undergarment changes for those who need that assistance. Staff on the weekend seems to be more inclined to this, possibly because they are short handed on weekends. IDK (?) Other staff really seem to care and try to do a good job, however.

The rooms are a good size. Dining facilities are great. the food is amazing. The chef they have there is outstanding. The people running the facility are very friendly and are willing to work with you and help you with your needs. The residents are very happy and friendly too.

My parents seem happy with the food. They haven't need any special care. [name removed] has been wonderful to deal with. He really g goes out of his way to talk to my parents. He even makes a point to see us if he knows we are visiting.

Before the move American House did an assessment using AdvisaCare on my mothers abilities to live alone. They discussed options of care and costs. With this knowledge we knew there were options for care if she needed them. We decided to purchase the initial option to give special attention for the transition. This included escorts, meal companionship, 45 minutes small assistance, and wellness checks. This proved very helpful for her getting acclimated to her new surroundings. Currently she does not need the daily services AdvisaCare provides. Their were no issues moving furniture and items with the help of family. My mother has adapted well, meeting new friends and sharing the activities with them. American House East 1 has a chapel. She attends daily rosary with her group and mass when scheduled.

Overall experience - weekend staff not as good. The whole facility is top notch. Most of the staff remembers you, especially the food servers. They have plenty of activities to offer throughout the day. Meals are hit and miss. Breakfast is usually cold if brought to your room if sent up to your room. there was a problem in August with one of the elevators. Took over a month to get it repaired. Presented an inconvenience with only one elevator functional for the whole building

Amazing staff that gives great care and very attentive to all needs. When I arrive at American House my mom is always very happy and her clothes are clean and ADLs are complete.

The overall experience has be excellent we have a great deal of activities that keeps you very busy. I think activities are very important I keep very busy and enjoy them. We have a movie theater and enjoy a great deal of movies. We get to request movies that we would like to see. The dining room is also very good we get a variety of foods.

After my husband died I found I could not keep up a house by myself. Missing him, I was depressed and bored. My daughter encouraged me to move to American House. I was soon makung friends and enjoying life again. I'm especially impressed with the number of activities offended. I can be so busy as I care to be.
