Friendly and cooperative staff overall but disappointed with the protocols (or lack thereof) after my mother was diagnosed with head lice after being there two months. Never before has she had them and all they did was bill us [Amount Removed] to have her room fumigated. No checking up on other residents, etc.

The staff was really good. Apartment size was really good. Cleaning and smell was bad but I believe they did the best that they could. My biggest complaint was the accounting. Billing was always an issue and responding was also an issue.

I chose American House Holland because of the price. They could improve on the food.

I had a couple issues in the end and had to move her to another facility. Alzheimer's is known to cause a nice person to become aggressive. When my sister became aggressive they said they could not handle it or check her for a UTI which can also cause aggression. They did not tell me this up front when I signed her up to move there. They instructed me to take her to the ER at least 5 times in a short period of time. The last two ER doctors said the facility should be able to handle the situation. More to the story but the facility asked me to find her another place. The new place can handle the situation and is $[removed] less a month. Not as pretty but better service. Also I am trying to get a refund for the partial month she was not there at their request.

American House has a vibrant senior community comprised of 2 floors or assisted living, 3 floors of independent living, and one secured floor for memory care. Each type of living has its own beautiful outdoor terrace. The memory care floor has a sensory garden. The assisted living terrace has bocce ball and other sports for visiting families and active residents. The independent living floor has a terrace open to all that has comfortable chairs and a skyline view. There is a concierge and hot coffee in the lobby 24/7. A movie theatre, coffee shop, exercise rooms, on site PT/OT, in house medical group, organized social events, etc. The residents are treated like adults. The staff are kind. It's been a positive experience for my mother.

The people and staff are all very nice and knowledgeable. And yes, I would definitely recommend to others. Everyone is very friendly here!

What we really liked about American House is that it was a smaller community and very hands-on. All the people that work there are very friendly and seem to really care for mom. [name removed] who is the main contact that I had with the community was awesome. I met with him for about an hour and he was very compassionate about mom. She has been there about six weeks and has adjusted very well and seems to enjoy to be there. Even though you can't put price on care for a loved one the fee that they charge is reasonable. But to answer your question, yes I would highly recommend American House. And also one thing that I took into high consideration with all of them that I toured was the cleanliness and how a community smelled. I know that sounds different, but I'm OCD when it comes to cleanliness and odors. When I first walked in, that's one thing I noticed was how clean the community was and how nice it smelled.

American House is well kept. There are a variety of social activities for the residents to engage with; some taking place at the facility while others are 'field trips'. The meals are of good quality with a diverse menu. The building is quiet; I may be mistaken, but I believe it is constructed with concrete block or poured cement. I recommend American House.

Clean , staff friendly, had a lot of activities on the schedule. As of now plan to move there after I sell my house.

Cleanliness is good. Room size ok for one person. I keep the cleanest room. Some of the residents are hogs . Come and go as we please, we are independent. There are some spaces available.

Lately it has not been as good. Found sticky floors and a urine smell in the Lobby. Also, costs have increased every year over the past two years and even though we pay for level 2 her hygiene is not monitored. The cleanliness of her bathroom has been unacceptable the last two visits. Possibly because they have known she is leaving they have not been as conscience.

Overall a very positive experience. Positive things were the staff is extremely friendly and caring. They will visit your loved one in the hospital or rehabilitation facility before accepting them at American house to make sure their facility is adequate for your loved one. The food was very good here. They have a personal chef on staff for planning meals. Each patient has their own room with a bathroom. The facility is newly remodeled and looks great. Price is very reasonable for what you get. Negatives: seems like they are short staffed all the time and may not have enough nurses all the time. One night, the roof started leaking in the middle of the night, and no one came to move my mother out from under the water leak until the morning. They did fix the leak that day, however. Also, there is only one entrance and exit from the facility grounds that let's out onto very busy Emondson Pike. A wreak occurred one afternoon right in front of the facility entrance and I was told that is not uncommon here. Be careful entering and leaving this facility.

I have met some great people on the staff and residents too. The place is second rate. They don't even have a vending machine. The new administration is not the friendliest, the food menu needs to be more diverse.

Adequate staffing, staff is friendly and helpful (lots of interaction with the residents), room is nice and kept clean. Mom loves it and often talks about the great care she is getting there.

We liked the small size and the staff that took care of my dad during his last days were amazing. They treated him with love and respect.

I liked the building being one floor, the room where my mom was staying. Also I liked the way it was organized, easy to move with the wheelchair , I liked the laundry. The people were friendly and willing to help.

American House East I (AH) director, managerial staff, employees are extremely nice and efficient. They were so helpful and the facility gives a traditional feeling/old world look. Dining facility and food are good and cooking staff are polite. AH activities are plentiful for residents and certain anyone could be happy living here. Apartments were the size needed for seniors. My family chose AH for my elderly mother for an independent living life but also have the possibility of additional assisted living services when required. AH was also the most economical in value we found. Out of the three senior communities reviewed, we stopped looking when we found AH.

The care services are getting better as problems get sorted. The top lady is brilliant, the sales person not so helpful. At the moment, we would not recommend this community to others.

They need to come to the rooms more often and check on their memory care people specially if they have medical conditions. My loved one was in there and she fell and couldn't get up and had to wait until someone came in, which was a while. There needs to be a way to alert the staff in each person's room

Our loved one does not participate in the activities. I like the fact that it's clean. The fact that alot of the staff are new is understandable, but we weren't met in the day of mom's arrival by anyone to tell us the ins and outs! People didn't even know she there. Only [name removed] knew I was bringing her the day she moved in. My mom only eats one meal there a day and her portions are very small for what she pays to live there and we've asked for that to change but most nights it's the same. I love the size of her room and we have it looking really nice.
