Mom, [name removed], joined the Colonial Community in [date removed] after rehab with MUSC. After my father died in 2003, and the sadness finally softened, she embraced her independence. She visited friends, entertained, and remained active in local volunteer and church activities. That was until she developed macular degeneration, which caused her to decide to hang up the keys. I can only imagine that each person who walks this path finds that their world is shrinking fast. I know mom did. And, for someone like mom, who is so social, no medication would change that shrinking feeling. Maybe it's because I'm a daughter or a psychologist, but I felt the perfect medicine would be a community. A place where she can have her own space with friends and staff just outside her door. Where she can be a part of an active community. Where her life could, regardless of her age, expand instead of shrink. The Colonial gives her that every day.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a great experience, we met with a lot of staff and everyone was so friendly and we left with a lot of good information

I looked at many retirement homes and each one was simiiiar to the others - basically institutions! The colonial was completely different. The staff is welcoming, stops what they are doing to help you. When the decision was made to choose The Colonial, I continue to be pleased. The food, the rooms are always clean and smell good. The staff and administration knows all the residents by name and are helpful day or night. The location is convenient. There is always activities, special events and services like hair cuts. There’s a nurse on staff and day trips for the residents. My mother is happy which makes me happy. I feel fortunate to have my mom in this facility

While you never want to leave a parent in someone else's care, there are times when that is the choice you have to make. I am grateful for the care given to our mother. The people taking care of her on a daily basis are superstars. They actually seem to love the patients in Memory Care. The staff is well organized and professional but very caring at the same time. There are some special people there. To name a few- [names removed]. The others are great too but i have the most contact with these team members.

Moving our dad into assisted living was difficult for all of us. We are so thankful to the staff at Colonial who were so kind and caring during the whole process of getting him settled into a new life of community. He adapted quickly to the new routine largely due to the responsiveness and attention the staff provided to making him feel at home at Colonial. Every time there was a need or concern, the staff in all areas responded with love and care. Thanks Colonial for making our dad safe and welcome.

Caring Staff with loving hearts for the residents! Mama lights up when they talk to her and love on her. Especially dedicated care givers are [name removed], [name removed], and [name removed]! Can’t forget [name removed] and [name removed]! Front office staff [name removed] and [name removed] are very welcoming and efficient!

Both my Father and Mother have been residents at The Colonial at Old Camden. My Mother is currently in Memory Care at this facility. I have been very pleased with the care that his facility provides. My Mother is loved on, talked to, and valued as a person. I feel like I'm one of the family there as well. It gives me peace of mind knowing that my Mother is in good hands.

I have been going to The Colonial since September of 2021. I visit my friend once a week, twice a week, and somtimes, everyday. Somedays I have been 2 or 3 times a day. Everyone is always so friendly, always want to help, and everything is always so clean. They never now when I will come and it has always been the same. Everyone is just as friendly as the first time I met them. My friend loves it there and always tells me how clean it is and about the good food. We have also been to several family dinners and the food has been great, and the staff is Wonderful, even though working extra hours that day, to get everyone fed. They make eveyone feel like family, and to me that is important, because some of these people have no family. They are never alone and there is always someone there that cares. It has been a blessing for my friend.

I love everything and everyone at The Colonial at Old Camden! They genuinely care about their residents. The facility and grounds are immaculate always. They have multiple activities planned daily and the residents are encouraged to participate. I love how they seat the residents with each other so no one is alone. Even when my mom doesn’t want to get up and get dressed, they encourage her to get up and get moving. All residents are cared for daily and they really know the residents well. When both of my parents were inpatient at the hospital at different times, [name removed] & [name removed] called daily to check on them and coordinate their care once they returned from the hospital. I just cannot think of anything they don’t do because they do it all! Their food is delicious and healthy. They are just simply the best and I’m so grateful that my parents are here. So many wonderful people work here and they clearly love what they do.

My mother has been at The Colonial at Old Camden a year. She loves her Colonial family, and the staff is exceptionally caring and well-trained.

Both of my parents are residents at The Colonial and I cannot say enough wonderful things about it. From the beautiful facility, to the amazing staff, to the activities and meals…everything has just exceeded our expectations.

My father has resided in the memory care unit of the Colonial at Old Camden since February 2022. My mother visits him frequently and has reported that the staff is consistently attentive, conscientious and well-informed as to my father’s physical and emotional condition and daily routines. Knowing my father is well-cared for has made the difficult decision so much easier to accept for my mother and me.

I would recommend Revel for a place to "really" get older - most of the food items (menu) are very good. The attention & quality given to the residents can't be beat, although not cheap, but the activities keep one busy.

My mom has been a resident at Barathaven for four months. She went there from an assisted living environment. Mom has done very well at Barathaven. The house doctor has adjusted her medication and she no longer needs an anxiety medication. Any concerns we have had have been addressed and taken care of to our satisfaction. The staff all recognize her and call her by name and from what I have seen they treat all the residents with the utmost care. Mom Likes to stay in her room so I’m not sure how many of the activities she actually participates in. When I am there, I can usually get her to do some of the activities.

The faculty was clean. Everyone working there was polite and friendly. The residents were smiling and seemed happy

Although my Father's stay there was short, I could tell this was a great place for my Father. I had worked there through an Agency 8 years ago and was Impressed With The Facility even then. [name removed] friendly disposition, Compassion and Knowledge was Very Apparent when we went for Our Visit to see if this is where we would put our Father upon Discharge from Hospital. After A long day with Dads Admission, we were brought Dinner. It was delicious, meat was tender and food was nicely prepared on the plate. Everyone there was so friendly and thoughtful. You could tell The Residents were well taken care of. The Facility was Very Clean and smelled fresh. I would highly recommend Barathaven to my Family and Friends who are looking for A Great Place for their loved ones. All of those who visited My Dad commented on how Nice Barathaven was.

My wife health and safety are of primary concern of the caring and attentive staff at Barathaven. She definitely enjoys the variety of dishes prepared and served to the residents during mealtimes. I have had the opportunity to observe staff assist residents that have difficulty feeding themselves. I always take the time to thank them for taking the time with sometime very difficult situations that they have to deal with every day

Since arriving at Barathaven, my mom has eaten more than ever. She raves about every meal. Before Barathaven she would pick and move her food around on her plate. It’s hard to sit with her and not eat as the smells are wonderful.

Both my parents became residents in September 2022. From the very beginning I could tell this was much better than any facility that either of them had been in before. Clean "homey" friendly feel! Wish I could give them more than 5 stars
