Within 6 months, too much turn over of staff. Food could be more varied and tastier.

This community was very nice. It was really clean and the community had a nice set up. I did like the staff and they were very helpful and accommodating. The thing is that this community just did not work out for mom.

I was not very impressed with this community, during my tour I had noticed that the administration did not have a much compassion and patience for me as the other facilities did. They where very standoff and did not make me feel welcomed. I did not move into this facility and would not recommend it.

The move to Strake Place was not a pleasant one. Our biggest concern is that the food was horrible. They did not serve meals with a balanced diet to the residents. The community was decently clean throughout. They need some work in the activities department. They don't have a variety to offer and only play bingo daily. There is a high school across the street and during football games it can be very loud for the residents who are trying to rest and sleep.

The place is okay, and the people are very nice, and they try hard. However, they really can't give you the level of care they say they can. They don't have the staff to do what we needed, and what they said. It took a long time to even get a statement or a bill. They are pretty disorganized.

We've had somewhat of a mixed experience with Hopkins Place. The facility itself is very nice, it's an attractive building and is always well kept and clean. The people that work here are very friendly, and they do their best to take care of the residents. The issue is that as of this review they are understaffed and stretched too thin to be able to provide the attention that some of the residents need. But they are working on it, so I am hoping the situation improves!

They have been doing okay. She seems to be doing pretty good there. They could have a little more entertainment than whats provided. There have been some minor cleaning issues. The nurses are really sweet to my mom. I haven't heard too many complaints about the food, though we did tell them some things she liked and she mentioned to us the other day she hadn't had those things in a while. There is some room for improvement but they aren't terrible.

They are trying very hard to upgrade. Consequently there is decorating going on. The change is difficult, But they're working very hard on making it nicer. The staff is friendly. The facility is clean.

I really liked the young man (Manny) that showed me around! This facility was clean and well maintained but the bathrooms in the apartments were fairly small. There was only one fairly small community living area. I thought the community fee was pretty expensive.

This facility was exactly like another one that I visited. Although it seemed clean and well-maintained the apartments were not as roomy and modern is the facility I'm considering. The community fee at this facility was too high as far as I was concerned, although that would not have affected my decision if I really felt this was the right place for my father.

For the most part this is a nice, but older facility. The apartments really are not big enough for two residents, yet they squeeze them into one room and in my opinion would make it very uncomfortable and crowded and even unsafe at times with all the furniture. Most of the staff are polite and caring, but not all. Was not very happy at all with the nurse on staff. She seemed very unorganized, forgetfull, and acted like she didn't know what was going on half the time. This facility is very understaffed, therefore, their response time to the call lights are not very quick at all, even when they were aware that my mother was a fall risk.

My father has dementia, and I'm not sure they were ready for the kind of problems that come with him. There have definitely been a couple of hurdles. Although my dad is admittedly a tough patient. They are doing the best they can with him though.

I would say if you are going in just for assisted living then they would be a five. However for my loved one they weren't able to do that great of a job, for our needs it would be a three. The cleanliness and the staff, those things were all great. They just weren't able to provide for the level of care that we needed. The one thing I would say is that they really need to have a family orientation on the first day that they get there. Where they talk about the schedule and what's to be expected, and just coordinate the care. When are meals, and when are meds given, what needs to come from home and what is provided. They talked with us about them a little but a sit down orientation would be nice.

It was fine for a few years, there was a lot of management turnover. The staff were just wonderful, however, and held everything together even with the turnover. There were levels of care, and we didn't feel like we got what we were paying for. They are able to accommodate Alzheimer's, but were not specifically trained for it. All the residents seemed to be happy, and mom liked it, we just eventually needed more care. They were good about keeping us up to date on how she was doing, but it could sometimes be difficult to get in touch with someone if we were calling about a question that we had.

The place was nice, but too far for my father's sisters to drive to see him and also he would have to change all of his doctors.

I would never put anybody there. It was very dreary and gloomy. The outside of the building is nice but when I walked in there was this big Gone With The Wind stair case. It was giant, really wide, and very ornate but the whole lobby is a giant mass of staircase. All the people in wheelchairs and walkers had to squeeze by to get to their activities. The whole focus of the lobby was this staircase that the resident's can even use because they're all using wheelchairs or walkers. The activity room was this little bitty dark and dreary room with no windows. It was not very bright and cheerful so I didn't even bother.

My dad is in the assisted living and everything has gone really well. The people are very accessible. The main thing is that they seem to care about my dad. They know him. I like the fact that it's very small. I think one of the things that really nice is the come and tell him when it's time for meals and when it's time for activities. Letting him know when activities are happen is really nice because it makes him more likely to go and the activities director is outstanding. My mother is in the independent living. She moved into a cottage and we wanted some repairs done that weren't done. My mother is extremely particular. Some people might have been okay with it but we weren't. We were very concerned in the beginning because they have one elevator in the main building and it was broken. I think they handled that situation the best they could but it was unacceptable that the elevator was broken for 3 weeks. The food was average. It's cafeteria style. I guess some people might like that but most of the people there get tired of standing in line. The people that work there seem very friendly. They're pleasant to the residents.

Maximum $3,430/month in dementia unit. Good price.
