Watermark Retirement Communities

I think we have ironed out our concerns. There was some issues with bathing schedules in the beginning. They addressed our concerns right away as they do for any concern we might have. She loves the food, the portions are a little larger than what she is used to. They were sort of mid range for pricing. They were the only place that we visited that had two levels of memory care, everyone else had one level that was secure. For the in between stage of memory care, this is a really good solution.

My Dad had been living on his own in an independent living community, but his dementia problems were worsening. It was clear to my sister and myself he needed the care that assisted living would provide. I began a search of assisted living facilities, with memory care units, within an easy drive from my home. "A Place for Mom" help me with my search and they gave me a list of places that included Rose Tree Place. I looked at quite a few places and Rose tree was my first choice. My Dad has been living at Rose Tree Place for nearly seven months now and he seems to be happy there. I originally chose Rose Tree because I was very impressed with the friendliness of the staff, the spacious and bright apartments, the wide and well lit hallways, the attractive dining room, and the cleanliness of the entire place. I saw people having lunch and the food looked very good. It was comforting to know that there is always a nurse on duty day and night. I was also impressed with Pathways, the memory care unit. The unit is spacious and bright, the bedrooms are large and sunny, the unit has its own courtyard and the residents looked content. I had an opportunity to speak with the Pathways director and she seemed very friendly and caring. As it turned out my Dad's dementia was more advanced than I realized and he moved into Pathways not too long after he arrived at Rose Tree. He has a pleasant room with a double window looking out on the courtyard. In Pathways he has as much independence as he can handle but help is right there if he needs anything. He is very content in the Pathways unit and I know he is safe and getting the personal care and attention he needs.

Blue Bell Place is an excellent assisted living and nursing facility. We looked at several locations in the area and Blue Bell Place far exceeded the other properties we visited. The staff is very friendly and our Mother has a large menu to choose from for all three meals. They provide many activities during the day and after dinner which keeps our Mother active and involved. The building is extremely clean and well maintained and there is a private garden for the residences to enjoy. Blue Bell Place is dedicated to the residences to insure their health and safety.

The marketing staff (Grace) was gracious and extremely helpful. A binder was sent to my mother prior to her move in which was extremely helpful (new address, lease, resources, etc.) The community is very clean, residents are everywhere (activities, dining, or just chatting) and the staff calls them by first name--very important. The daily menu is wonderful--several selections along with "sides" and desserts. The dining room is clean, spacious, and well-appointed. I would definitely recommend this community!

East Village Place was able to take my mother in on short notice, after she accepted that she could no longer live alone. By entering as a respite client, mother understood that she was going there for 30 days and could leave at the end of that time, if she really wanted to. Luckily, she liked it and has agreed to stay. This made the transition easier as it was her decision to continue. The staff has been wonderful, encouraging her to participate in the activities there but insuring that her choices are respected. I would highly recommend East Village Place.

The reception my mother and I got from Michael Bruno when we first toured Rose Tree Place was first class. When meeting us for the first time, he said to my mother "Mary you just got your hair done, it looks beautiful." I knew from that comment that Michael was a detailed oriented individual (we had just come from the hair salon)!! He made us, especially my mother, feel so very welcomed. During our tour, Michael acknowledged everyone by name, both residents and staff members. It was obvious he cared about each individual. Mom and I toured four other communities. After each tour I would ask her what she thought and she always responded "I like Rose Tree." The interesting thing about Rose Tree is, it was not even on my initial radar. A Place For Mom recommended Rose Tree as a possibility. Had it not been for that organization, mom would now be living in a different community. During the decision process, Michael called periodically to see if we had any questions. Other communities were more interested in the sale versus the correct fit for mom. Michael Bruno was concerned about my mom. Even though Michael has left Rose Tree Place and is now employed at A Place For Mom, he still reached out to me to see how my mom's move went. The support and compassion Michael has for the elderly is unsurpassable. Thank you Michael. PS. My mom has been at Rose Tree for less than 1 week. I will review again after some time has gone by to accurately rate the care, activities, etc.

I wouldn't have any problems giving them a 4. There is nurse that doesn't communicate well, but the aids that are there, the ones that take them to the living room and feed them, who are really taking care of my mother, they are fabulous. The amdin has been great, I've talked to the higher ups and they're great. I go to Eileen who is very helpful, everyone above that one nurse is fabulous. The staff is all very nice and very caring. I've shopped around and the cost is great, I do wish they would encourage her to walk more and be able to be more varied with the kind fo food they're giving her. The have her on pureed food and they can't switch to solids when she can eat them. That's their policy, I don't know where it comes from, if its state regulation or what but I do understand where they're coming from. I haven't seen alot fo activities, I go at dinner time, but I've seen them bowling and doing a music thing, they were having a good time.

I love the variety of different activities that are offered to the residents. Food quality is very good. The staff is very caring and I've gotten to know some of them by name. The community appears very clean and I love the footprint and spaciousness of my parents' two bedroom apartment. I would definitely recommend this community to others!

Overall, this was a good first impression. Since this is her third assisted living facility, I’m comparing it to the other places she has been, and so far, we have enjoyed this one the most. No facility can provide everything, but for what it does offer, we feel it is doing a good job. The apartment size is great, and we have had no problems with the setup. The staff are generally nice, although you sometimes have to reach out and initiate conversation to create that dialogue. There are also some staff members who are especially friendly, outgoing, and welcoming to the residents, which makes a noticeable difference. There have been a few housekeeping issues. Occasionally, the daily room cleaning, such as sweeping the floors or replacing trash bags, is missed. However, these issues have never gone on too long before being addressed. Laundry is probably one of the bigger areas that could use improvement. Towels, sheets, and occasionally clothing items such as tops or sweaters can go missing. We have had a difficult time keeping track of towels and washcloths. We even put her initials on some hand towels, but after a few weeks, we never saw them again. The food is another area that could be improved. We have not found it to be particularly tasty, and some of the beef products seem to be lower quality. There also doesn't seem to be a lot of fluids offered with meals. Milk is usually available, while tea and coffee are offered less often. When menu selections are given, it would also be helpful if staff explained what the different options actually include so residents can make an informed choice. One thing we would really like to see is a public TV or common area where residents can watch live sports and other events together. One other observation is that residents seem to gather in the main room well before meals and then sit there for quite a while waiting for the doors to open and the meal process to begin. It can feel a little awkward and could perhaps be organized in a way that makes the waiting period more comfortable and engaging. Overall, though, our experience has been positive. There are certainly areas that could be improved, but considering this is her third assisted living facility, this has been our favorite experience so far. We appreciate the things they do well and hope some of the smaller issues continue to improve.

My mother has only been there a few weeks and is struggling to adjust. More regular updates, at least biweekly to the family on what she may need or what we can do to help. The staff have been wonderful.

The staff at Blue Bell Place has been very nice and the facility seems clean, bright and comfortable. My mother had been living at home until she fell (again) recently, forcing my hand. I did have companions staying with her, so she wouldn't be alone. She seems to be doing much better and getting better care now that she is at Blue Bell.

My wife and I took a tour of your very nice facility. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the various areas, as well as the friendliness of your staff. The dining menu seems well diversified, and we were assured that the staff preparing the meals are very experienced, and your chef has been with The Watermark for many years. The only issue was with the availability of larger apartments. Since we both prefer separate bedrooms and bathrooms similar to a number of units at our current facility, we will continue to visit other properties in the area. Thank you for your hospitality and pleasant staff. We enjoyed our visit.

[name removed] gave me a very informative tour. She knows her subject well and answered all of my questions. I have Parkinson’s and think that I would be be better served with a facility that has more focused Parkinson’s service correct me if I’m wrong but I believe I could be forced to leave if my Parkinson’s gets worse. Thank you

Overall, our experience was good, and I would give this facility 4 out of 5 stars. The facility was very clean, and my mom especially loved the food—it was one of the highlights of her stay. Most of the caregivers were kind and friendly, although there were a few who were not as welcoming. Our biggest concern was communication. Before my mom moved in, there were several miscommunications between the manager/director and my husband and me, which led to some confusion and affected our overall experience. The quality of care was generally good, but those communication issues carried over into our interactions with the administrative staff. Because my mom was still recovering from a hospitalization, she wasn't able to participate in the activities, so I can't fairly comment on that aspect of the facility. As for value, I feel the cost of elder care is simply too high. I understand that staff deserve fair pay, but I also believe every older adult deserves compassionate, quality care regardless of their financial situation. Despite the communication challenges, the clean environment, caring staff, and excellent food made our overall experience a positive one.

I have toured 3 places this far. Still shopping, but as of today I liked this one best. I especially liked that I can keep my cat. That means a lot to me. It is within my vicinity of looking for a place.

They have great staff, activities, and amenities. The only reason for 4 stars is the higher price point and a bit dated apartments.

It's not been a smooth transition for my parents. They both have had health issues. Most of the staff has been great but a few of the aides have been less than diligent. I sympathize because I think they are overworked and underpaid. Sadly that is the path of our health care system in general. The food has been hit or miss. Sometimes it's great and other times it's awful. Still some adjusting going on for my parents.

As with most facilities-they could use more staff, food is good. Not nearly as crowded or as hectic as previous. Facility is clean all the time. Like any other Memorycare facility they could use more help particularly for those who have trouble feeding themselves.

Beautiful when you walk in. I found that most facilities were. When you get back to the Memory Care, it is a little depressing. We were passed off to [Name Removed] that didn’t normally do tours.

They seem to have some trouble keeping a chef and wait staff, but otherwise everything is great!
