Watermark Retirement Communities

Overall, our experience was good, and I would give this facility 4 out of 5 stars. The facility was very clean, and my mom especially loved the food—it was one of the highlights of her stay. Most of the caregivers were kind and friendly, although there were a few who were not as welcoming. Our biggest concern was communication. Before my mom moved in, there were several miscommunications between the manager/director and my husband and me, which led to some confusion and affected our overall experience. The quality of care was generally good, but those communication issues carried over into our interactions with the administrative staff. Because my mom was still recovering from a hospitalization, she wasn't able to participate in the activities, so I can't fairly comment on that aspect of the facility. As for value, I feel the cost of elder care is simply too high. I understand that staff deserve fair pay, but I also believe every older adult deserves compassionate, quality care regardless of their financial situation. Despite the communication challenges, the clean environment, caring staff, and excellent food made our overall experience a positive one.

I have toured 3 places this far. Still shopping, but as of today I liked this one best. I especially liked that I can keep my cat. That means a lot to me. It is within my vicinity of looking for a place.

They have great staff, activities, and amenities. The only reason for 4 stars is the higher price point and a bit dated apartments.

It's not been a smooth transition for my parents. They both have had health issues. Most of the staff has been great but a few of the aides have been less than diligent. I sympathize because I think they are overworked and underpaid. Sadly that is the path of our health care system in general. The food has been hit or miss. Sometimes it's great and other times it's awful. Still some adjusting going on for my parents.

As with most facilities-they could use more staff, food is good. Not nearly as crowded or as hectic as previous. Facility is clean all the time. Like any other Memorycare facility they could use more help particularly for those who have trouble feeding themselves.

Beautiful when you walk in. I found that most facilities were. When you get back to the Memory Care, it is a little depressing. We were passed off to [Name Removed] that didn’t normally do tours.

They seem to have some trouble keeping a chef and wait staff, but otherwise everything is great!

The facility was nice and the people were great. Unfortunately, none of the units met my requirement of being on the ground floor with a patio and sliding door…. Did mention that a few times before I visited….. but the place was very nice and clean

I enjoyed tour. The vacant room was under construction. Wish a resident would have opened her apartment, but I understand that is not an easy thing to do. Thank you for your time

The food is absolutely amazing My dad is very happy with the dining options. The apartment is small, but posh. The kitchen is great, walk-in closet very spacious. Beautiful shower perfect for one person. The staff is very friendly and helpful but service has been slow for work orders. For example, my dad's cable isn't working and we put in a work order several days ago and it's still not completed. The concierge service is very good, he will be able to get free rides anywhere within 7 miles and that's helpful as he is 90 and may not be driving for a long. The community itself is very friendly and people are very nice.

The staffer who conducted the tour was upbeat and very friendly. She took all the time I needed to see all the amenities and get my questions answered. The tour was relaxed. I left feeling I had a lot of information to consider as I decide future living arrangements.

A beautiful facility with many amenities. We are looking for a Sr Living home for our parents. An in apartment washer and dryer is a deal breaker for them and the facilities are shared at the Legacy.

It seemed very active but we were looking at memory care. The memory care unit was small, 11 rooms, brand new, not many residents yet. few activities yet. So was not what we were looking for at this time.

I had lived at Sonrisa now for two years. It is home to me, I love this place very much. This is independent living and I hope it stays that way. There is lots to do here many places to go many trips outside of Sonrisa. Come and take a look at us you’ll love it.

Administration staff turnover is a problem because things fall through the cracks. They offer "hair salon, nail salon, spa, etc", but these amenities are rarely open due to lack of staff. The cafe that they have is not run well. The food options are minimal and food tastes less than desirable.

The decision to move was difficult but [name removed] (watermark sales) was incredibly patient with us and was very helpful helping us navigate all of the options. Every interaction with a staff member has been positive. The other residents have all been welcoming and positive about the place.

What we like the most about the community is the location, activities and food. We would recommend The Watermark at Almaden.

Overall I'm quite satisfied. The place is kept very clean, maintenance is pretty slow sometimes, meals are good, but I had to keep interceding when my dad's meals weren't being taken up to him, but he's been going back down for the past 5 or 6 weeks so it's not an issue now. My wife and both adore [name removed] at the front desk and [name removed] with Interim.

I gave low ratings in administration and quality of care because, although the facility is very beautiful and clean, it was significantly understaffed and experienced a high turnover in leadership. During the little over a year that my mom lived there, there were three different directors. When she moved out, they were already searching for a fourth, as the third director was leaving at the same time we were. The front reception desk should be staffed 24/7, but it was only covered during regular working hours. Because of this, my mom was once locked out of the building after walking a visiting friend out and was unable to get anyone to unlock the front door to let her back in. That was very concerning. That said, the food was excellent, and the staff members who were there were always kind and friendly — there just weren’t enough of them. The other residents were also very warm and welcoming, which made a positive difference in her experience.
