Watermark Retirement Communities

We had toured many facilities leading up to our current assisted living arrangement and felt that the Watermark at Oro Valley was a great place for mom. My mother has been here for over three years and has seen the highs and lows of growing old and living in a controlled environment i,e; dining, activities, outings where you may or may not be able to go out on your own. This facility has gone through many changes and as usual staff changes. Through all the trials to include COVID, Watermark has always tried to keep residence and family members informed on any changes to ensure that everyone is safe and happy. The dining facility is always clean and the wait staff knows you by name and most times what you like before you ask. The menu gives you many options for whichever meal you are having. Overall the facility is a great place for mom and would recommend it to others. Take a tour and see for yourself

Right now...the facility is in a transition, so the quality of Aides is a hit or a miss. They do their job, but they are just learning the residents. Some of them are friendly. Some just do their job and that's it. The housekeeping is fine. They come once a week. I can't speak on the meals because I don't eat there. My mother doesn't like some of the meals. As for a recommendation, if you can afford to pay out of pocket, definitely. It's very pricey. But it's clean and the staff is friendly.

This is an okay community. I would recommend you review the community to see if it is the right choice for your loved one. This would be a good community for a loved one who is mobile and doesn't require much care. The staff communication with the family was good. They were responsive to our concerns and questions. It would be nice to have more staff available to speak with. There were three meals a day served, and the residents had choices to choose from.

It is a really friendly staff and a very well kept, nice facility. They do have a heated pool which a lot of places did not have. They do offer some aerobic classes which is a nice perk . She does complain about the food quite a bit. She says that it is pretty bland and overcooked and the portions are pretty small. There are a few things that she does really like, they have a menu that is always available so she can fall back on that if needed, it is hit or miss.

Overall I am very happy here I am been here for quite sometime - but they have struggled with hiring a manager that stays consistently so something's are haphazard. [name removed] does a wonderful job in the kitchen - sometimes the meals come out cold but he is currently working on fixing that problem. Overall based on the experience I have had I would recommend Atria Almaden to other families .

I would tell others looking into Rose Tree Place that the staff are very helpful and understanding. They really try to make moving in process an easy transition.

The staff are very friendly and accommodating. There has been change in the medical staff recently and that caused a lack of communication. I could call the medical director 8 times and never get a returned call. The administrator and medical director have given me their personal cell numbers if I need to get a hold of them and they are trying to make better and I think that they are. They have improved significantly with communication and I am very satisfied. I recommend Rockland Place without a doubt.

It's a good environment and the staff is caring. There's a lot of changes and they are short-staffed sometimes, which causes problems. The quality of the food is problematic, they need a chef. Sometimes the meals, particularly on the weekends, are disappointing. The weekends have been a problem, just generally speaking. They do well with communication. I was surprised that when I wanted to know about putting the monthly payment on a credit card, I was told no. That seemed to be a simple thing to do, at least to me. It'd make things a bit easier by having it as an option in case I want to use a credit card, so it was surprising to hear. I would overall recommended Blue Bell Place to others.

Overall we have had a good experience. They seem to be well staffed - when you call someone always answers the phone. There is a receptionist at all times so you are not getting voicemails. The nursing staff has always been available when we have needed to talk to them. They keep me well informed as well and are great with communication. I would recommend Rockland Place to other families looking.

The staff is friendly and very nice. The facility is very nice overall. Would like to see more activities, whether it be evening or daytime activities. Other than that, it is nice place. Would certainly recommend it to any friends or family. No complaints other than would like to see improvements on the activities program.

It's very clean. The food is terrible. It's good value for the cost. They do have good physical therapists. Overall, it's a very convenient location.

We chose Rockland Place because of the value for the money, the convenient location, and the friendliness of all of the staff members. I would like to know more about the activities that are going on and what she is and is not engaging in, so I think that they could communicate that a little better to the families.

For my loved one and the activities there, they don't think there's much to do. They said several residents they've come in contact with have said the same thing as well. My loved one moved up to New York after spending 25 yrs in another state, and wanted to be closer to family. They were very active in that previous state and had their own home in a gated community. They were able to remain active throughout the yea and taught Bridge. This place doesn't have Bridge, which kind of bothered my loved one. As far as the meals - my loved one says nothing really tastes that good and they've tried different things from the kitchen. They're hard of hearing, and also says the dining room is very loud. I'm sure there are other residents who are hard of hearing too, but my loved one hears yelling and mostly coming from people at other tables, rather than their own. They have made their own meals a couple times because they don't enjoy the meals & dining room experience there. Hopefully they fall in and can grow to enjoy it more over time. One thing I've noticed is in my town, which isn't far from Rochester, there were many communities that weren't that active. You only see a few seniors taking walks, and some of the communities had the occasional outside entertainment that comes into the dining room in the evening, but that's about it. My loved one said they visited friends in another state who were in independent living. They saw people up and about, with a lot more activities and just saw more people around in general - I'm unsure if that's just a state-by-state thing?? My loved one came up and visited the same places with me and we both got the same impression. With that being said, I think those things are to no fault of the community. The staff here at the legacy are very nice and they were very accommodating. There was a mix up when my loved one originally moved in and they had to temporarily move them into a different unit. They could've done more with following up with us. There was just a general lack of communication with things that were not working. For someone who's moved from a different state, it was just a lot to go through at once. The staff did help my loved one with their luggage; they also called to apologize and accept their faults. 3 weeks after my loved one moved in, we both received an email saying they're having issues finding staff for cleaning and if residents can clean their own rooms, to let them know. Of course that kind of irritated my loved one. They didn't want new people coming in their room. They have a policy were housekeepers aren't supposed to move things around, but it also bothered them that they kind of just did a quick sweep through as opposed to deep cleaning. Since the email, I believe they've gotten some staff to fill in those spots and they also make sure to clean your linens/ bedding which is nice. We looked at a couple different Legacies before we chose this particular community. My loved one thought this one looked nice and fit into their budget . I have a sense that my loved one could really thrive here if they can meet new people/friends, participate in more activities, or become more engaged within the community.

The recent change was rough at first but settling in. They still have a few kinks to work out. They are actively working at those. My loved one enjoys the food. The offer a variety of activities. They do don't try to actively recruit the residents into participating in those activities. That could need addressed. After a rough transitional period in the beginning, she settling in much better now.

It has been a really good experience so far, I have met a lot of wonderful people. You have to get used to the meals a little bit, mostly I enjoy everything that is served but there are some things I don't care for. You just have to figure out what you want and don't. The activities are fantastic. The staff are very friendly and helpful. If you ever need assistance they are always there to for you.

Good community, not the right fit.

I have been very pleased with the care my loved one is receiving. The program offered is good as well.

Rockland Place is a beautiful facility. It seemed to be more activity driven and my loved one does not like to participate. It would be a great place for a more active individual, but it was just not the right fit for us.

this place was all assisted living and that is not what we was looking for other then that the place was nice

Atria Almaden is brand new and thoughtfully designed with seniors in mind. Staff are attentive, friendly, and competent. I feel safe leaving my mom in their care.
